BMW B58 has been making BMW great for almost a decade now and no doubt, it has been a great engine. However, as any piece of high end automotive technology, there are problems and reliability concerns. In this video, I go over the problems you could expect when buying a BMW car with the BMW B58 engine as well as symptoms and possible fixes. I've also have personal experience with this engine in my BMW X7 which I talk about towards the end of the video. Some of the common issues on the B58 engine include issues with valve cover gasket, excessive coolant loss, oil pump, oil filter failure and VANOS solenoids. A lot of these issues have carried over from the N54 and N55 engines, but luckily not nearly as common.
