Would love to agree with you, but both of us weren't impressed, even at the lower price point. Other commentors had the same critiques. Glad you had a better interaction with them!
Joseph Smith I had sizing issues at first (guess it comes with buying stuff online), and one quality control issue, but they sent out replacements for the shoes pretty quickly and their customer service staff was really nice and helpful through the process. The shoes I got are still in pretty good condition although I am worried about using them in all the salt and snow at the moment
You are reviewing three products and getting compensated by one of the company’s?! How can anyone believe what you are saying? You said nothing negative about koio but bashed Greats? This was a “review” yet you fail to give the faults of koio?! What kind of review is that? Shame on you.
You're too tainted by the unethical stench of every other men's channels on here hocking pure crap every day. Sucks you're so far gone that when an actual professional gives an unbiased opinion you discount it entirely.
AWxInc I’m glad you’re going to buckle down and point fingers at other RU-vidrs for selling “shady” product. That doesn’t make it okay. And for you to be a celebrity stylist you should know your word means everything.
Was a good video until you said $80 stan smiths over the greats comment happened. It was very misplaced, badly enough to tell you were sponsored by Koio. Because you cant say theyre pretty much the same in a sponsered video, I understand. The Greats is also just a better brand and as been around much longer than Koio. When with price aside the quality of the greats blows the stan smiths out of the water. Unforutnate that The greats are leading the space in affordably priced designer sneakers with great quality while Koio literally have copied everything they have done.
I don't know why they just can't be honest, It's so obvious they have a bias towards. Not only that if you gonna drop $258 on sneakers you may as well just save a little extra and buy Achilles...
Koio are more expensive than Common Projects here in the UK. I do actually like the look of them but they're more expensive than the trainers they're actually copying.
Greats full grain leather, made in Italy great quality shoes I’m been wearing them for 2 years, amazing quality..$179.00 And you are telling that Adidias Stan Smith a genuine leather plastic like material $85.00 when is it feels like $35.00 or $40.00 dollars shoes, made in I don’t know where, is better than greats , wow you really blow my mind away. I like to invest my money, no throwing it away.
Enjoy your style tips and thanks for being that fashion expert I have yet to hire. 😏 However, I must say I didn’t really enjoy hearing your review of The Royale. Everything from the box to the quality of the product is bar none better than Stan Smith. I can understand the Air Force One top hole comparison, but The Royale is a much more premium product. I’m usually pretty silent about bad reviews of a product I love, as I’m not a fan of seeing others wearing what I’m wearing, but The Royale is a really great and comfortable shoe, and I’d hate for a bad review to possibly impact a “great” brand. I own almost every white shoe you’ve reviewed, and by far The Royale is my favorite. However, outside of this review I enjoy your content and appreciate your design tips.
So ignorant to compare Greats Royale with Stan Smith; a handmade Italian leather sneaker vs Chinese mass-produced tennis shoe. Try walking the entire day wearing Stan Smiths, then try again wearing Greats. I’m sure your ignorant opinion about Greats will change.
So, you like the giant grey stripe on the Koio that is not a “clean white sneaker” but you hate perforations that you admit are tiny. Greats are full grain leather unlike SS. Do not look like Air Force One. Sponsored vid.
I don't like the suede on the Koio Capris, either. But they also have Triple White Capris with no suede on the upper. I like the look of those more than Greats because the toe box of the Greats is bigger than I would like. The Koios and Common Projects are sleeker. Not a fan of the perforations on the Greats, either.
I know it’s a sponsored/gifted video but it’s hard to support Greats being an expensive Stan Smith. The quality is basically exact to the CP or Koio, all of which won’t crap out after a year like an Adidas.
Grim Reaper Eh not true. I bought a pair and they’re stiff and bulky, not anywhere near as soft or comfortable as my CPs. Also I noticed the exact issue they’re talking about with the pressure on the toe box. Koio will be my next pickup.
Can'tHave2MuchHP as a counter, I’ve owned all 3, plus SuitSupply, M Gemi and Gustin. I’ve not noticed any major quality difference. Stiffness broke in and the Greats have held up just as well as my CP Achilles lows.
Grim, we're not here to bash, but 'tis just our opinion and findings that they don't live up to the hype. Glad you had a better experience than we both did!
Hey everyone. So I agree with your points and do think, as the Kaviler stated on his channel, comparing the Greats to Stan Smiths are an insult, indeed. I was even more astonished to see how woefully defensive they seem to be in the comments below. So perhaps that is a mistake (which happens. we've all been there) that hopefully they both will never make again. That being said, I must admit, after owning a pair of all three, Koio is the best out of all of them. In fact, out of these three: I would rank them in the order of 1. Koio 2. Common Projects (if money's no object) 3. Greats. That's my take.
I’ve never had the toe issue with my Greats sneakers. I own 15 pair of Greats and not one toe crunch/fold issue. Maybe there was once a bad run of sneaker??? Fortunately I’ve never had that issue.
Just bought first pair of greats, experiencing the toe Issue. Caused bleeding on big toe and heel. They look great tho! I hope they get more comfortable!
This hurt my brain. I love Nike brand but to say Greats is same quality as Nike AF1 or Adidas is simply wrong. Just a crappy review and I wouldn’t listen to these people.
Just personal experience with brands that I’ve tried. Common projects is the best minimalist sneaker. If you don’t catch them on sale get koio and save the extra cash. Next is Oliver Cabell but they play games with their pricing and I hate that about them.
@@kevinmiller9718 thanks for the reply on such an old comment. I’ll take a look at those brands. The market seems to be saturated with so many look a-likes, it’s hard to determine what brand is nonsense and who is the real deal.
@@kevinmiller9718 okay I’m not the only one that realized the pricing games Oliver Campbell plays. I think greats are a solid sneaker. Definitely better quality than Stan smith and AF1. Stan smith just feels cheap.
Bought a pair of Greats Royale at Nordstrom Rack for $69.99, what a great deal on a great shoe haha. But I wanna say, there is no “seam”, albeit there is an internal Celastic toe cap which keeps the top of the toe area from collapsing. My guess is that the top edge of the Celastic is what you feel. However, Celastic is pliable (Resin-coated fibrous cloth), so over time it should soften up along with the stiff leather.
You guys are the best. I have no interest in luxury sneakers but still watched this video just because I like to hear how thorough you are in evaluating products!
I disagree on the Greats. They are a great pair of shoe. They are actually Common Projects quality at more than half the price. The Koio’s are a great pair also, but don’t sleep on the Greats.
I appreciated that both you and Dorian gave your opinions. You like the value of Stan Smith and its definitely excellent value. Just because youre not a fan of Greats isnt cause for the bashing. People can actually receive a product they like. RU-vidrs who continually pimp the same products (watches, accessories) thats the real problem. No one mentions you also dont believe in spending a lot period for a minimalist sneaker.
The Greats Royal look pretty good but since they mentioned that wearing them can be uncomfortable and I have gotten blisters on my feet before so I might just get an Adidas Stan Smith or Koios 👍
Something not mentioned much here.... Leather quality is the key difference amongst the 3 sneakers here vs. Adidas or the like. Can't compare Adidas to any of the 3 in this video. Full Calfskin lining and full grain leather uppers vs. "Genuine" crap leather (made from leather splits). Same difference from a pair of Allen Edmonds shoes vs. colh haan or a similar dress shoe. No comparison in durability. Full leather lining don't stink either no matter how bad your feet sweat.
The GREATS are built like a tank. They're heavy and feel like they will last. The other one's are a touch sleeker but don't feel justified in quality for the price. I always said "I'd never pay $100+ for sneakers". but since trying greats - I've already ordered three pairs. You can also find them on sale occasionally
@@JR-jz7mt I've had mine for three years now and they are fantastic! In fact, I'd recommend going to their site now as they're giving away the 1st Gens (like the one in this video) for only $95! That my friends is a STEAL!
I DISAGREE vehemently with your slight/ condemnation of THE GREATS. I own KOIO, GREATS & ADIDAS Stan Smith. The Greats Royale Sneaker is actually much more quite comparable to the KOIO Capri than the much cheaper Adidas Stan Smith; the quality and character of the sneaker is absolutely comparable to more luxury oriented brands. Furthermore, The Greats Royale Sneaker is actually better in some respects if you have a thicker/wider foot or are more muscular person or thicker/heavier in general than a Skinny Jean wearing Hipster. It feels more akin to an American Fit vs. a European Fit. GREATS are selling quite well in New York City. I am an Immigration Lawyer and am quite comfortable wearing my BLACK GREATS ROYALE with a Suit to Court.
Since you are comparing direct to consumer brands to previously established brands and you are talking about being worth it. You need to reevaluate Allen Edmonds. Can you review direct to consumer dress shoe brands that are popping up and how accurate the sizing is ie if they run large, wide etc. The quality for AE I had seen from reviews had gone down, but I needed a pair of Park Avenues and this is what happened. I tried to leave a 1-star review on the website to warn people the quality has changed and the review is not posted after being submitted 4 days ago, so they are monitoring and preventing negative reviews. The old AE shoes I purchased including the Carlyle (After your suggestion), Strand and Fifth Avenue were great. I ordered the Park Avenue 1st Cyber Monday and they came with obvious small scratches and indentations and look like 2nds or worse. They provided an estimate of 2-3 weeks to be crafted which was fine, but then they suddenly had a surplus and shipped early what I assume to be seconds. The new cheap packaging didn't include the shoe bags that kept the shoes from getting scratched further. The paper they use to package the shoes is stiff and rough. This looks like they should be $100. I have had cheap Timberland dress shoes from two years ago as a burner pair for dirty jobs and they came better packaged with higher quality materials. At $180 I have had shoes come with decent shoe bags. The heels immediately on the Dainite are asymmetrical and off from my previous 5th avenues with Dainite before the refresh in website design and cutbacks. They upped the prices and gutted the quality of AE. AE I used to refer to everyone I knew looking to start out, now I need to look elsewhere for a better than average E or EE wide shoe. Hope you are able to get a few samples to sow the new quality variance. I have a brand new in box extra pair of black fifth avenue I keep as a backup if you need a pair for images to compare against the new ones.
Yes please do this. I have had really bad experiences with the quality at AE. Unless something drastic changes, I will not buy another pair of shoes from them.
Jonathan Straiton When I started buying in 2016 wasn't bad and good customer service. The shady salesperson at the store incorrectly sized me a D width when normally I wore a E. Long story short I asked what about a E he insisted I was a D even though it was a bit tight he said they would stretch which isn't true. Wore them one day and my pinky toe was badly blistered because it was too tight. Called AE good faith replacement for a E width then no problems! So the customer service was good but quality control I know is lacking because to get a proper Poplar belt I needed to order 6! 5 returns. Whoever was packing them didn't check them for defects which were obvious like scratches or misshapen buckle, dye on the buckle.
Great vid! I would respectfully disagree with the Greats not being a sneaker worth it’s price. It is an outstanding sneaker for it price and saying a Stan Smith is a better option due to its lower price is complete hogwash. I would prefer to pay a higher price for a sneaker that will last 3 times as long as a Stan Smith. I look forward to more content.
I’m an Adidas, Greats and Common Project owner all for different reasons and value for the money Oliver Cabell is doing it better than anyone in the clean minimal white sneaker game when it comes to value. They’re basically CPs for the price of Greats.
@@carsonchiem145 not sure if youre being sarcastic but lasting a semester is definitely not quality. i had a shitty pair of adidas that lasted me 2 years in highschool...
I own two pairs of Koio’s and a pair of GREATS , the Koio’s are better, you can feel there is a quality difference and KOIO’s are slightly more comfortable, GREATS, are good for $175 (not a huge fan of the design)but if you can drop an extra $70 for a better quality shoe, please go ahead and invest in Koio’s.
@@JR-jz7mt I've had my oldest pair of Koio for three years. They're so good, I'm up to ten pair now. So sign on to what @RiksFlores said...invest in Koio's.
My pair of Greats makes a swooshing noise every time I walk; Due to the air coming out from those perforation holes. It's really annoying. I'll try the KOIO.
Un sub from my side, used all three brands. Koios are as good as CP but it is unfair to compare greats with Stan Smith, this smells fishy. As a marketer myself, this wasn’t a good move to demean competition like this. I feel sorry that I wasted 11 mins of my time. Bye
Not a marketing channel, a professional stylist's channel. Huuuge difference. Don't want to hear truthful opinions? There's lots of other channels that'll BS you for a few extra scheckles.
With the Greats, you said them not being comfortable was a show stopper, yet you say the Common Projects one gave you blisters and shredded your socks. You're a bunch of hacks. And older men can wear leather jackets.
I didn't like the perforations on the greats thats why i went for cleaner look of CP. But to compare low end leather of AF1 (with mix of faux leather) to the greats is just disgusting.
Congratz, I watched about 6 hours worth of your content last night and after hearing fiance fiance fiance its pretty awesome to see ya'll married. Congratz and keep up the good work! It's honestly been the 101 guide I've looked for so long and it has been extremely helpful
OLIVER CABELL are a Plus but STAN SMITH for the win because you never know when you will need to play a quick game of tennis or compete in a break dancing battle :)
Hey Ashley! Can you make a video on college style or a teen style, I know your essentials but Id like a more juvenile/modern/comfortable looking style without going sloppy, thanks
For the most part you’re able to find common projects under 300 on sale with a quick google, so just something to keep in mind. Got mine from barneys for less than the koio retail.
Showing your bias to Koio who sponsored this video. The Greats sneaker exudes quality, where the Stan Smith uses cheap painted leather and feels cheaply made. Greats Royale is made in Italy, with premium leathers, and is worth the $179 price. It is a much better shoe than the Stan Smiths.
Have 4 pairs of common projects best shoes theirs nothing that comes close to them , honestly just invest in the common projects and you won’t be disappointed
These sneaker companies talk about how much effort goes into details to make their shoes worth the high prices. You would think they could spare a little effort to make them true to size. Instead they leave you guessing if you are ordering the right size... how much is a little large? About a 1/2 size? But you don’t make half sizes.
congratulations! youre great together! $400 is too much for sneakers. For lower budget, check out cole haan grand court 2. all leather white sneaker for far less. greats are just nikes without the logo. they're not that attractive.
Here’s a trust building tip for you: never make a comparison on a sponsored video. It’s perceived as biased-even if it actually isn’t. Also, bashing fellow RU-vid channels comes off as petty and immature-regardless of who started.
The perforations on the Greats is an absolute turnoff for me. Why is it raved so highly? I don’t care if its made of gold, its ugly as hell. Sorry, not sorry.
I do not understand the hype about the common projects. I have compared them in hand to greats and to me they are CLEARLY of lesser quality than the greats. As soon as you pick them up you can tell the greats have thicker leather and heavier more quality feel in hand than the CP's. The CP's leather feels about the same quality as my Kenneth Cole sneakers that I got on sale from Saks for $40. Greats really are extremely high quality and I'm picky AF about build quality.
She doesn't have a problem with $248 but has a problem with $179 because of perforations and a supposed seam that no one ever has complained about.. sure.
