Thats one thing I love!! As a teen, having all these doctors and specialists to help me with skincare is amazing!! I wish everyone was blessed with this knowledge at such a young age
I laughed out loud when you confessed your eye cream was revolutionizing your skin but you didn’t know which one, somehow this reminded me of myself too 😂 You two are so enjoyable to watch, I love skin care and learning about the science behind it, thanks for sharing!
One of the biggest problems I think most of us have run into with acne medication is giving up on it too soon. I remember buying a product with salicylic acid and after 2-3 days think “this stuff doesn’t work”. I didn’t give it a chance and had no idea it may require 6-8 weeks to see a real improvement. I’ve been on Retin-A for a few years now and it took 6 MONTHS before it cleared my skin and wasn’t all purging and peeling. At my age now I have patience and I realize changing the skin takes time. I have a daughter with acne now and something she understands now is that things take time. Her skin is mostly clear now but she was very patient and is now being rewarded for that patience.
It reminds me of when my friend told me their doctor kept having a go at them for smoking. This happened many times over many visits. But one day he caught that doctor outside smoking.
These are all recommendations that I’ve given my patient/clients as an esthetician for 20 years. Great to see that I’m on the right track. I will pass these videos on to them.
So I recently discovered your channel and I have watched all of your videos. As a doctor myself although not a dermatologist, I do appreciate good and clear content based on evidence. You are telling your viewers to not rely on anecdotes but on the scientific evidence, however most people do not have access to the evidence or do not know how to interpret the evidence so, even though your recommendation is a valid one, it is very hard to follow unless they ask a physician, which brings me back to my initial point of appreciating your channel. I hope you grow and become a point of reference for skin related issues or concerns in the social media world so people have a good source of information to replace all the useless and many times damaging information from the "influencers".
I love how positive you guys are! Very informative videos and enjoyable to watch! I am a nurse with acne but just realized how much I learned from about 10 of your videos already. Thank you for your work and time you invest in youtube!!
5:20 this is really true. I stick to the same routine ever since I first start using skincare on daily basis. In about 1 year when I visit my hometown, my friends told me that my skin looks so nice. Glowing, healthy, etc and they ask me what routine I follow.
I had reddish skin and crazy dry skin. Like flaky and itchy to the point of having cuts on my face especially around my eyes. I finally bought a skincare product and azelaic acid which I bought because of you, my skin has made a crazy improvement. No cuts, no dryness, no flakiness and the redness even came down like 70% and I've only use it for about 2 months. IDK if it was the acid or actually having a true regimen of face wash/ hydration but my skin is fantastic after so many years and several Dr visits that didn't help. So THANK YOU!
I have sensitive skin so when start using a new product try it for couple months if it works👍🏻continue with it, that’s how I add products to my skin care 🥰
I definitely feel they are not just selling a Brand!! This is exactly what I'm looking for.. Most Dr.. My opinion... Are selling the Brand!!!!!! Even if they admit they get reinbursed.. Then.. They are not really giving honest opinion.. Its for their pockets..
I just remember how my skin looked before I really started to understand ingredients and actives and HOW I was taking care of my skin. I used to use harsh scrubs and didn’t moisturize because I was misinformed. I have oily, acne prone skin. So I thought drying it out and scrubbing it would help... when I stopped doing that I noticed a pretty fast improvement. THEN when I stopped being afraid of sunscreen I noticed my pores were noticeably less prominent and my redness and acne kind of just started to get better. And I just had a simple routine: cleanse and moisturize at night. Cleanse and moisturize and sunscreen in the am. And THEN I started adapalene... and man oh man my skin was SO smooth and clear. But then I got pregnant and had to stop lol. But goes to show it doesn’t take much to see results. Just a good, consistent but effective routine will change your life. (For most of us anyways. Some people need a little extra help from stronger actives and that’s okay too)
Dr Shah and Dr Maxfield spitting facts again. There are so many advertisements around about "bla bla effect within 24 hours" which sets so damn unrealistic expectations and makes people just buy and buy and buy because it doesn't miraculously doesn't solve their skin problem right away. You guys are doing an absolutely fantastic job, with all those influences and wanna-be MUAs on RU-vid that are getting rich off of advertising their sponsorships and holding 20 products into the camera with each video, educational channels like yours are desperately needed. Thank you for everything!
It’s kind of comforting to hear “none of us is perfect” because I am still working together perfectish. When I started using actives on my full body!!! skin, I think I introduced vitA, B, alpha arbutin, peptides, ceramides, and azelaic acid in a space of 2 days and AHA in the same week. My dry and dehydration prone skin was very, very kind to me coz it didn’t start a riot. Or maybe sunscreen saved the day 🤷🏽♀️ That said, which eye creams coz I am still looking to get something that’s not a procedure to “help” my dark under eye circles
I must be going crazy…. 60 yrs young…. Using gentle cleanser you have suggested…. Retinoid and moisturizer………. For one week! Im seeing improvement in my skins texture and “glow”!, im excited to see what a month of this evening routine. You two are so interesting and fun to watch- Thank you! Also…. Summer is coming - is there a skin care suggestion for “ shorts weather for the legs.? Jan🌸
Very informative. Discovered your channel last week, I've been binge-watching your videos and I have learned more about skincare in one week than I did my entire life. Plus, you too are so funny. I learn while also laughing. And your personal examples make me realize that we are all human and even doctors/dermatologists make health/skincare mistakes
this was so helpful, i just have one question. what’s the “correct” order to apply serums, moisturizers, retinol etc. influencers have different order and it can become very confusing
the best way to do it is from lightest to thickest! some people do it in different orders because their skin is more sensitive so for ex. some people like to put a serum after moisturizer because that serum could irritate due to their sensitive skin, but overall you’ll get much more effective results by applying thinnest to thickest! ex. 1. cleanse 2. toner 3. essence 4. serum 5. moisturizer 6. spf hope that helps!
Wow I am only 6mins in and so hopeful, I did exactly what you said not to do and introduced three new products back in mid December and was getting discouraged but am continuing to stick with it through mid March. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Dr. Shah: Tip 1, don't use too many new products at the same time. Me: 32 years old and just now starting a skincare routine, waiting on $200 worth of skincare products to arrive..... oh boy
You can just use the product one by one and having 3 day-ish interval between the products. Just checking if there’s any issues / negative effects with one of the products that you just use. And start with the basic first (cleanser, moisturizer & sunscreen) after that you can add serums / toner / etc.
lol girl, I feel you. Though so far it's been going well for me bc I mostly just got all CeraVe products (and they've been gentle and hydrating - EVEN their 0.3% encapsulated retinol serum!). I'm waiting on my The Ordinary's 100% plant based Squalane and 10% Mandelic Acid+HA to come in.
I used to do all of these 😂😭😭 but after many years, I became more educated and very careful with the product I chose. I'm very pleased with my skincare routine now ✨
Thank you guys for creating this content. I have learnt so much from your videos. I never had a good routine. Now you have made me want to invest in my face and it doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg. I am so grateful for you guys.
Josceline Solis honestly - if it’s working for you, keep with your same skincare routine. I found a good routine last year and used it for 9 months. I try new products for reviews but if it wasn’t for that, my routine would only change with my needs changing. For example, it’s common for our needs to change with the seasons, weather, or age... but if you’re doing good - no need to buy the things that are advertised!
This was super helpful and I am def guilty of having used too many new products at the same time..🙈 Could you guys maybe do a video on laser treatments for acne scarring in the future? Love your videos! 💖
I love the casual yet informative style discussion. I would love to hear more about the pros and cons of using natural products like Shea butter, tea tree, lavender, balm of gilead etc. Thanks guys!!!
Thanks for all the info! Love your TikTok videos Dr. Shah. So....what is the dynamic duo of revolutionizing eye cream you are using??? The world needs to know.
Looove your content! Thank you! 🙌 About setting a goal: I am 34 and have hormonal acne. 🙄 Is it possible to create a skincare regimen that helps with the acne but also is anti-aging? If yes, any tipps? TheStruggleIsReal 💖
Try retinol/retinoids in a serum or moisturiser! Retinol is the best and most researched ingredient for both acne and anti-aging as it increases cell-turnover and collagen production - speaking of experience :) if you can get prescription from a doctor that’s even better. Just never ever forget your spf50, especially with retinol!
I wonder about this too. I see you tubers slapping on one thing after another, all with an ingredients list as long as your arm, and I wonder how all those ingredients are interacting with one another, especially when they are all different companies products!
I use a set that is just three bottles, two are for morning routine which is vitamin C and hydraulic acid then i place my water based moisturizer once my serums have soaked in and one bottle for night time which is retinol then i place my same moisturizer but i put less of it on my face at night.
I wish so many people would hear this out. I have friends constantly asking me when they don't do the research themselves. I finally had to tell my guy friend if he wishes to discuss to first watch your guys basics then get back to me lol...do some videos for men skin basics!
Ahhh #1 always gets me! As soon as I get my breakouts under control I try to add in a bunch of stuff to help with texture and then I breakout again! 😬😑 lesson finally learned
Hey, thanks for the video, it was super informative and helpful! Please, please do a video about skin care routine during your 30s, what the focus should be, active ingredients, product recommendations! That would be super amazing 🙋♀🙋♀🙋♀
Love your videos, they are very information and reduce questions about popular products on the market and in general about skin care. I have 2 questions about fixing some skin issues: 1. During the summer I always this weird dry skin on eyelids and under eyes. It is like this skin that cracks and peels and is kind of rough. What can I use to cure it? 2. I have these light brownish looking spots on my arms and back they look like dark spots, but some look like light white skin spots like when you peel a scab and it’s healing. They happened last year after this itchy rash I got on my back and arms. The spots won’t go away and it’s been almost a year. I have been trying Palmers skin therapy oil. Still haven’t seen a difference, what can I do to get my skin back to to normal as it looks like I have bruises on my arms?
Could you guys be able to cover the line Monat? There is currently this new trendy line that claims so many good things and are very prideful on their vegan products.... to be honest I dont see any difference. So far I only use the items you guys cover and they do work. Thank you again for doing these videos! Very much love from New Orleans!
Latisse (bimatoprost) was the first FDA approved product to promote eyelash length, thickness , and darkness Since then , OTC derivatives containing prostaglandin analogues have emerged, like Grande Lash, Neu Lash, Lash Boost, and Babe Lash All of these can promote eyelash growth but be careful of side effects including : Eyelid / Eye irritation Darkened eye color Darkening of the eyelids The iris becomes darker due to increased melanin pigmentation . People with green eyes or hazel eyes are the highest risk. This reaction is less likely if you have completely blue eyes but those with specks of brown are at risk too !
They did a video on Latisse for eyelashes. I actually just watched it. They said it works but could cause hyperpigmentation on the eyes and can darken your eye color.
I've known many who become obsessed to spend 20 minutes in the sun for Vit D because of something they saw on FB. My husband was obsessed. During his dermatologist visit, he has to go 2x year. He asked, then even challenged the dr. The dr said 'it wouldn't be professional to call you an idiot but I would recommend you delete that app and get tested for Vit D. it was hard for me to keep a straight face. Doing research is very important and if you have a dr., ask them.
Thank youu so muchh! I really wanted to try a skin care routine but i'm too afraid so this is soo helpful. Your channel is soo helpful pleaseee make moree videos 💗💗💗 new fan here
I think the only anecdote that should be used is when dealing with sensitive skin or rosacea or eczema. If someone has had a reaction to it it’s better to just steer clear from it and try one that hasn’t had reactions
"What you said this morning..." 😂😂 made me laugh so hard. Love your videos! Thanks for all the informative, helpful tangents! ---> Just picked up a Dr Pen A6s (yes I will only ever use on a clean CLEAN face, only ever use a sterile and brand new cartridge!). Been checking out pre and post care as well as procedure. I'd go to a dermatologist (if I had one and could afford consistent treatments) but that's not realistic unfortunately. Thanks guys!
Doctor thnak you for the video! My skin is oily acne prone skin and I get breakouts frequently. Can you please suggest me face wash, moisturizer and sunscreen?
What are your thoughts on “face yoga”? The idea being you exercise your body to tone it, do the same for your face. It seems like they stretch their skin?
I’ve done the same with my melasma! I actually decreased it but was using so many products at once that I’m not sure what was working so well. I’ve actually narrowed it down and I’m pretty sure it was the Mad Hippie vitamin A serum. Not Murad. Most likely “Not Love MySkin Hydroquinone serum” which were my first choices. I would love to see you break this Mad Hippie line/product down and give me your opinion. I’m currently enjoying the Vitamin A serum and the Hydrating Nutrient Mist.
I have changed my skin routine after watching u guy’s so thanks in advance. My question: I got Indian brown lol skin and I have problem with dark lower lips and around corners. What specific product should I be using. I have extreme dry and sensitive skin. Living in Canada so things which I can get here. Kindly answer when u have time please.
I never took care of my skin until recently when my sister started recommending me and buying Beauty Counter stuff for me. So I couldn't help but use a bunch of new products all at once lol.
Haha when Dr.Sha gave that look & smirk to the other Dr. when he said “we all have different sizes..” 😂 i know where Dr. sha’s mind went! 🙌🏼that’s where mine went too! Lmao
I have combination skin. I use Cerave hydrating facial cleanser , I only use it at night. For moisturizer is first aid beauty. The morning I use the oil control moisturizer. At night I use coconut water cream (hydration) because we have dehumidifiers and fans on, so the air is dry. For sunscreen I use Bare Republic sport , however, it’s has a white cast on. What sunscreen do you recommend? Is first aid beauty worth it?
