To be clear: Step 1 - Land is bought by, or transferred to the CLT. Step 2 - The CLT Build then builds the homes of assets (either by commissioning a developer or housing association or building themselves) Step 3 - Maintenance and management is performed by volunteers in perpetuity, for the benefit of the CLT. Step 4 - Poor people obtain affordable housing. This might seem like a silly question - but how does the land get bought and the homes built? Someone has to sweat to build the homes - who? Why? I don't get it.
From what little I understand, the money is rased and built for the community themselves. Likely the future occupants of the land, possibly other community members as well. This money is likely also used to build the homes. If volunteers (likely the same people I mentioned before) aren’t building it themselves (which is also very possible).
Why is it nearly impossible to find out how much potential homeowners are actually going to save with CLT purchase? “Affordable” is relative. Give examples
@@tarvey Depending on what house is being built it is possible for it to be 40k, the reason why house prices are far more than that is because of housing scarcity rather than labour and material cost, in this scenario cost = price making it far cheaper than accounting for scarcity.
