Looks like a great shot string. At the end of it the speeds indicate a proper hammer spring and regulator set point/ balance. For people who do not want to mess with the reg/ hammer spring initially, the transfer port restriction knob is a good idea for slowing down the speeds incrementally to hone in on each pellets favorite speed. It is advised to do these adjustments over chronograph and once you figure out the most accurate speed for the pellet that you're shooting then you can adjust the regulator and hammer spring if desired. It was great seeing you at PA Cup man, mad props to Tyler Patner and Pyramyd for hosting an excellent event.

Yes, it was an impressive string right out of the box. Just a little hot for those JSB 16 grainers that shot best. But great advice overall. Likewise my friend. Always good to see you and thanks for the kind words!

Amazing package. The fact that Saber Tactical made a high end chassis for it is a statement in itself on performance and build quality. I’ve contemplated getting mine cerakoted with a Terminador Tactical Stock. I view the Avenge X as the closest experience to operating a high end bolt action p.c.p. rifle.

Great video Tyler 👍. Will there ever be a .30 cal barrel offered? It seems to have plenty of power and air storage for it and I think nearly EVERY Avenge-x owner would buy one!

You need to make a 30 35 cal barrel kit for the avenge x

Without making drastic changes to the breech, it's just not possible on the Avenge-X platform.

Honestly, I haven’t spent enough time with the Zelos yet to make a fair comparison. While I’ve shot it (and it shot well) I’ve not explored the tunability of the platform at all and need to before I could weigh in.

Just the tactical for right now but keep in mind that the barrel kits and bottles/tubes are also available, so you can very easily convert any other Avenge-X yourself as well.

Watched many avenge x videos. Convinced the original avenger is more accurate and less pellet picky.
@pyramydair
@pyramydair 4 дня назад
Have you tried both in a side-by-side comparison? Having shot many of each at this point, I'd actually say on average they are pretty comparable. But there are definite benefits of the X platform that the standard Avenger can't really answer. The modularity is an obvious one, and there's a whole other layer of tunability with the X that you cannot achieve with the Avenger. Think it's more a question of what do you want and how much do you want to spend, because you're going to get an accurate gun either way, and it's ultimately about what you want to do with it that may make the decision for you.

@@pyramydair I have not as I haven’t owned an avenge x. So what I’m saying I guess is quite subjective about it. Only from watching videos. I had a 22 avenger that you could feed it just about anything with the right tune, even crosman premiers, and shoot a substantial number of moa groups at 50. Not saying the 2 guns are night and day but for seem reason the original just seems a tad better 🤷‍♂️

Tyler, I have an Avenge-x in .22 with regulator creep (500 psi creep to be exact), I am on my second regulator (warranty), with no positive results. Do you know how to cure this problem..? I can start with the regulator at 2250 psi and within a few shots it is either at 2000 or 1750 depending on my tube pressure (over 3000 it may settle around 2000, under 3000 it will settle around 1750 psi).. This is really confusing and annoying.. This much creep can affect the velocity and also the point of impact, as well as widening the extreme spread to resemble an unregulated rifle more than a regulated one..
@pyramydair
@pyramydair 4 дня назад
So you're experiencing creep through the shot string then? Just want to make sure I am reading that correctly. Have you tried any other settings as a starting point? I've always found that there are some places where the reg likes to be better than others. Though that may be related more to the physical orientation of the reg and face seal than the specific pressure range. If the second reg is still having the same behavior and you've tried various reg pressures, I would think it's probably action related and Causing excessive wear on the reg face seal.

@@pyramydair I have tried 1400, 1800, 2000, 2250, 2400 psi with never over 1.5 turns on the hammer..if the rifle sits for a while it will creep up, with 1-3 shots it will come down and settle. If I do rapid fire it will drop lower and not recover or refill as quickly, Once it settles, if I wait 10 second before cocking and firing then the regulator seems to stay put for the duration. I also notice that with a fill pressure over 3000 the reg will have higher readings than when the pressure is below 3000 psi. The only thing that I can think of that can cause this is that the output valve spring is too soft. The hammer rest on the valve and tries to open it a little so the reg thinks it needs more air to close the valve. when cocked during a shooting session the hammer is not pressing on the output valve and things settle down. Does this make sense to you. If I set the regulator too low my first shot is way high, if I set it above 2000 then the first shot is lower, as it should be (higher pressure, no increase in hammer will yield lower velocity)..
@pyramydair
@pyramydair 3 дня назад
@@vansantsam When you say "sits for a while", define a while for me? I ask because there's a big difference between reg pressure moving in a minutes/hours versus a few days. I have seen the "bump" or change in reg pressure through a shot string once or twice on X's. The better question is whether or not your velocity changes when this happens or not. I chalk some of this variance up to the gauges themselves, especially if the velocity is not substantially impacted when the apparent change occurs. But in the instances I have seen it, there's typically a reg set point where it's more stable, but that may be outside of your desired setup range, and in general I'd call it atypical behavior/performance and look to get it changed out (not necessarily just the reg, but maybe the gun as a whole). The firing valve shouldn't be impacting the regulator performance in the way you are describing. Actually, if what you are describing were the case, the gun would just be leaking through the firing valve (so you'd hear it from the transfer port or out of the barrel). The reg doesn't "know" when the valve is open or closed, it's sole job and function is to reduce the air pressure that the valve sees. Hopefully that makes sense. Frankly, the reg behavior you're describing would suggest to me that a new gun is needed, especially if a replacement reg didn't solve the issue.
@vansantsam
@vansantsam 2 дня назад
@@pyramydair 10 minutes or greater. I communicated with Air Venturi and they told me that 300 psi plus or minus the set reg pressure is normal.. That could mean 600 psi and that surely would affect velocity and point of impact. I would opt for a total swap out but my fear is getting one that does the same thing, how many times would it need to be exchanged..
@vansantsam
@vansantsam 2 дня назад
@@pyramydair If the rifle sits for 10 minutes or more it will creep up.. The regulator displays 2250 psi - 3 shots later it shows 2000 psi, if I rapid fire it, it will drop to 1750 psi.. When I run a string I try to allow 8-10 seconds between shots, the best that I have been able to get is 35 fps extreme spread, It mostly get in the 40's with 47 fps as the highest. I have a Benjamin Cayden (non-regulated) - last night after not shooting it for over a year I topped it off from 2400 to 2900 psi and shot it down to 1900 psi and got 60 shots with extreme spread of 19 fps (876-857) with JSB .22 18.13 grain (I am a plinker so I never sort my pellets - I shoot them right out of the tin). I would think that a regulated air rifle should do better than one that isn't with respect to extreme spread.. The Avenge-x shoots 7 fps faster at 883 fps, but mostly shoots in the 870's with the regulator showing 2000 psi, but without rhyme or reason I could go from 883 to 840 from one shot to the next, that never happens with my Cayden the biggest variation between shots might be 10 fps.. It is very linear too..
