i would add a couple headlamps. at least one. i have a couple put around the visors. easy to find, and also can be used as a map light. mine have red and white led's. maybe also put a few puck style road flares in there if she breaks down with the battery jump starter/tire inflator.

I usually build my own kits because I have tons of training and experience but I will say if some aren't I bought a mymedic car kit when it was 70% off on their website and it's pretty solid as far as anything you need in an emergency, especially if you can get it for the price I did, besides that we have trauma kits, and the little jumpers/chargers and self defense, also luckily my wife used to be a medic so she was emt certified so she knows more than me in that realm.

In the car I do not leave batteries in flashlights. I package them separately. Over the years I've given tow straps, diamond sharpeners, space blankets, ferro rods, knives, flashlights, kubotans as stocking stuffers.

Great pack and full of useful items. You have a way to pump up the tire but no way to patch it. A tire repair kit would be good. Better to patch the full sized tire than put the donut on that the Subaru comes with. Also a rechargeable headlight so she can go hands free if she needs too. Nate

If you do like I did when we went to Canada in 2019 no one will mess with your stuff. I locked down our Honda EU2000i Generator to our rack on the back of our camper and wrapped it up in a big black trash bag tied at the top and bungee the top of the bag down. No one even gave it a look on a 46 day trip. I keep my Get home bag in a black garbage bag tied up in the car too. Just carrying off the trash folks. Nothing to steal in here. 😊LOL

I place essential tools, fuses, fluids, hygiene, snacks . . . . . . into my wife's/daughters cars (its in a medium sized tub) and when I have to rescue them, I use their kit to impress upon them the need for the kit (even though I have everything needed in my car. I just never know if ill be arriving in my car). This has happened several times, so the point had been made and the leave the kit alone until they need it. And, they tell me when they've used something that I need to replenish. My son however, ate all his snacks, drank all the water and lost halve the tools. He's on his own. He's a boy.

I have a rigid plastic storage box with a lid that clips on, Plano or rubbermaid do them. You can put a padlock on them and I attach a steel cable which is fixed to the chassis of the car. Yes, if you had the time and the tools you could smash or cut it off but most theft from cars are opportunistic and are smash and grab type thefts. Anything that increases the time, effort and noise or requires anything more than a rock to smash the window works against the thief. Not perfect but better than nothing.

A vehicle ends up needing several different kits: (1) You need a car kit - the things you need to fix a flat, change a tire, jump a battery, tools to change a battery, a means to siphon or fetch gas, spare oil, some cleaning rags, road flags/flares and reflective vest, etc. The things you need to get your car going (or help out someone else). (2) You need a first aid kit. It needs the usual aspirin and bandaids for soccer practice as well as the big stuff (tourney, clot, gauze) - and it seems you had all that stuff in there. The upside is that if you are dealing with car wreck level trauma it means that the cars are still running and an ambulance is on the way. (3) You need the "camp out of the car" kit. Sufficient water, snacks, warmth, cover, etc that you can "shelter in place" at your vehicle for 3-7 days in any situation from middle of the barren desert to buried in snow during a blizzard. Most survival situations from a car are best solved by staying with the car. (4) You need the "get home bag" with the essentials needed to walk from the furthest distance you regularly travel (not necessarily long trips like vacations, but the usual work, church, store, etc). Much of that overlaps with the "camp out" kit - so long as you have a suitable carry bag to put them in. (5) You need the "life happens" kit - with fun happenings (towels and suits for the family for swimming, a picnic blanket, a spare soccer ball/frisbees, etc) and the not fun happenings (toilet paper, paper towels, wet wipes, trash bags, diapers if you have littles, etc) for when someone has a bathroom emergency, pukes in the back seat, etc. I keep most of these in one massive backpack with the understanding that if I need to walk away I can remove the things I don't need to walk with (car stuff, some of the first aid, extra water, towels, etc). Some things sit on the side (I usually keep a sack of cat litter for getting out of a mud or snow slick). Wife was NOT happy when I took half her trunk for her car's bag, but since it was a single bag that could be removed easily, she relented and let it stay. After she got used to raiding it when she needed something (a pair of work gloves, aspirin, flashlight, fishing line, glowsticks, etc), she grew to like it. I also keep a party bag with body armor and a rifle caliber pistol (state laws make that necessary rather than an actual rifle) - but that is due to my particular preferences and situation - but that is not really something needed and is something I would leave if I had to walk out (I have other armor and firearms at home, after all, and would not want the extra weight while bugging).

I was amazed out some small pencil size and then some thumb size then some wrist size mist was damp and pulled the string for the thing to start it started the fire it burned for 20 minutes or so. It would be good for those time when hands are so cold hard to move them. On just need a fire NOW. They work

It's good to be able to create fire, but for a automotive kit, it's just as important to be able to put fire out. Along with a jack, spare tire, charger, etc, add a fire extinguisher. You can get a small one with a mounting plate to keep it secure and easily accessible. You may never need it, but you will be glad for it if you do. I was.
@libertyg4402

A fire suppression blanket would be good too! Smaller extinguishers can't always do the job in getting the fire out.

Forgotten items. At least 1 gallon of water, could be 8 of the 16.9 oz water bottles too. Back up cell phone charging stick and car charger. Ideally a GMRS radio and spend the 35.00 to get a license. Program repeaters into it along her regular route to Atlanta. Look into getting a decent 50 watt GMRS base radio and a good antenna and coax at your house. Remember it is line of sight so get the antenna as high as possible with as few obstacles as possible between the house and receiving station. Again area of horizon towards her regular route. Lots of RU-vid videos for more information. Thanks for the video!

Except of the survival ulu and the Leatherman Wave there's no cutting tool in the kit - a Mora Companion and a 10"-folding-saw IMHO are essentials. As a car-kit, there should be a digging tool as well as a lenght of Dyneema rope and a pulley to get it unstuck.

I had the same issue as you. My fiancee is a make-up artist & photographer, so she always carry a lot of crap in her trunk... I realized that for her, less his more, and settled for a small, compact kit (sling bag) with just the basic necessities... Focusing more on communication/signaling (a.k.a. getting help), because sadly her survival skills are lacking (although I'm working on it, but it's a slow process). Skills are important, but I do believe that today, 90% of problems can be solved with a charged smartphone.

I also would like to have gloves like leather or mechanics gloves to protect hands, then since it’s for your wife maybe pepper spray or bear spray? Then the life boat emergency food bars.

Everything is a compromise. Distance to travel, weather conditions, possible vs probable situations. You have the water filter but not a container. Are "you/wife" going to be cooking on the side of the road in an effort to get home? Generally after car troubles/accident staying with the vehicle is better than venturing out, so what can make the situation easier? Good stuff.

As a man, you obviously didn't think about it, but your wife definitely needs menstrual pads and feminine hygiene products. Additionally, every car should have at least one high-visibility reflective safety vest. 🇩🇪🇩🇪By the way, in Germany this is an absolute requirement by law for every person in the car. Instant drinks, instant coffee, electrolyte powder are also always good. The most important thing in the cockpit is a seat belt cutter and a tool to break the window. really always good videos and ideas,👍👍

I know a lot of prepper types in the US wouldn’t get dressed without one so this will be a controversial comment, and I’m not commenting at all on ownership here, just visibility. I’m sad to say I’ll be clicking the don’t recommend button. I know I don’t have to actually put it in the comments, but might be food for thought, Jason (or not, I guess).

I am just being myself. I carry a gun often. I don’t t take it off or put it on for videos. Typically I conceal it with my shirt but it has been so dang hot around here I didn’t want to sweat all over it. I really appreciate the feedback very much. I can’t spend my time worried about who I might offend. If someone is offended by the sight of a gun then this may not be the channel for them.
