Compact SUV Cars is hot favorite among Car Buyers. Here are some untold Facts revealed which will help you assess right car for your need, requirement if you moving to Compact SUV by just following trend
@@shankarwain4289 so what..bring on thar,bring on jimny..India ain't a car developed market yet.proper SUVs and off-road SUVs.nobody buys it except enthusiasts.
@@kevinphoenixx9068 and crossovers like mg hector ,Tata harrier ,new Tata Safari ,Creta and seltos are the most useless vehicles in Indian car market ! Rather buy a sedan or a hatchback because they have better driving dynamics, handling , comfort and as much practicality as any crappie crossover ! Why would you need a large lunchbox that looks like an SUV but cannot even drive offroad ?
I had a rapid. It was a pain on even a slightly high breaker or a bad patch. Used to touch here and there and that's why I'm deciding on an Ecosport so that I don't have to always slow down and look towards the road ahead thinking "Kahi touch na ho jaye". It killed the driving pleasure which Rapid always delivered and made me smile on highways.
I love sedans but unfortunately with in city, we get blinded by high beams by scooters, autos, taxis, small cars. csuv cars will save us from this and gives upright confident seating position. Ofcourse no car save from high beams 100% though. csuv cars handles potholes, so finally i booked ecosport and waiting for it. EcoSport comes with tcs, HLA, vehicle stability system, EBA etc. Similarly priced Rapid, vento, ciaz doesnt get these safety features. Its easy to get in and get out of suv, compared to sedan.
Exactly! sir this is called bhedchal peoples buying ugly SUV over the beautiful Sedans. i have skoda rapid and I'm satisfied with that car. Most probably my next car is also a sedan skoda octavia.
Your observation is really valid. But I would like to debate on few observations. I have seen a honda cities bottom is hitting just passing through a hump in the road in Bangalore city. I feel that hitting bottom can expect quite often in a sedan due to little low ground clearances and wheel base length due to unscientifically build roads in India. In foreign countries you won't face this issue. I have Nexon which hit the ground only once due to my over confidence when park my vehicle to a ground surface which is almost one feet lower than the road. Second thing, sitting position - honda city and Nexon might have 1 inch deferrence in ground clearance. But park them side by side and you will find Nexon's seat positioned almost a feet higher than city's. It give good confidence for driver to plan overtake, better visibility on road, and for rear passengers, more unboring experience in long drives. Sedans has better aero dynamics and better handling than SUVs on high speeds for sure, but our bad roads opened market for fuel sucking suvs and XUV 300 and Nexon are few compact suvs which gave spacious and wider interior for someone under 5'10".
Ok but the SUV’s you mentioned are not Compact they are Sub 4 meter SUVs then comes Compact SUV (Seltos, Creta etc) having same engine, suspension, Front wheel drive just like Verna but SUV lookalike, then comes real SUVs ….
Moreover suppose autonomous tesla on indian street and in front of them pappa ki pari on scooty given a right indicator to turn left 😭 it isnt yet our time
Maybe the future, but definitely not present 😂. Sab teek he but battery technology has to advance. Maybe car batteries will deteriorate after 3 or 4 years; just like mobile battery deteriorates after 1.5 years. Also warranty covers only if battery dies, not for decreased performance. I still doubt ev long term experience.
In India, even in metro cities like Pune, there are huge potholes in middle of nowhere, continuous road constructions leave big ditches and trenches, very big illegal speed breakers. If this is the condition of cities then what about small cities and rural areas, it's even worst there. Even on state highways, I always encounter countless very big illegal speed breakers where you have to really slow your car. I have car with 165mm of ground clearance and used to believe it is sufficient for cities. Thats why CSUV market has become such big today. People are not just behind shaan and bhedchaal. You lack perspective on that. And 25mm makes a big difference.
So true... I too wanted to go for compact SUV. And after too much analysis of 3-4 months, I took this decision. I chose Toyota Yaris, don't know why people don't talk about it, but it's an amazing car in this segment. Anyways happy to see this video, that you also have same view point.
People r buying so called compact suvs only becoz of ground clearance amount of rear space, legroom in venue, sonet is pathetic and built quality is also worst..ecosport,nexon,xuv300 are good but we cannot call them suvs..Creta seltos are also not suvs..they r crossovers with worst built quality and safety..Avoiding sedan becoz of road conditions is fool people's decision.. Becoz more than 70% indian roads are in good condition and rest of 30% are under construction.. So called compact SUV( raised up hatchbacks)cant able to match the level of Sedans in terms of Space, comfort, ride quality, better aerodynamics hence better fuel economy, classy looks etc much more Also in suvs, there is no space, comfort, bad ride quality and handling, stiff suspension hence u feels bumps inside car, body roll is there, less fuel economy etc.. Hence buying Suv only becoz of bad roads is decision of fool people Sedans are love❤
Not all are buying compact SUV for the reasons u have mentioned. Some are buying for easy driving in cities and many have parking space issues along with turning radius concern. But I agree with your points.
70% of Indian roads are in good condition?? I don't know whether to laugh or cry on this. I live in Delhi and you cannot drive 30 mins in Delhi without encountering potholes and bad roads unless you're specifically driving in posh areas. This is India's capital, imagine the condition of rest of the country. You love sedans, cool but the way you're calling compact suv's buyers idiots is not cool. Everyone has their own needs and yes driving on bad roads is also a need. Sedans scrapes and bumps on such roads which lead to more wear and tear. There's one bumper in my locality on which a Honda City bumps everytime it passes even if a single person is sitting inside a car.
@@jitinkumar7742 you are absolutely right, but still I feel these compact suvs shouldn't be called suvs just give them a different name, because compact suvs are kinda lame
What about road conditions,is it suitable for low ground clearance hatchback or sedan. When sudden Speed breaker most of the time touches our cars lower body part and makes a sound.
People who live absolutely in metros can have same view as yours. But if someone is associated with small towns or Lives in places like Himachal, Uttarakhand, sedans make no sense. And you compared ground clearance but forgot about wheelbase of sedans, which is equally important if you talk about ground clearance. I have both segment cars (city and Ecosport) and there is a daylight difference between usability of sedans and compact SUVs. !
So, what is the conclusion... Long run asset means the car must have to run on those rough roads sometime in its life.. Indian roads are unpredictable. Talking about sedan, I don't see all round features (like ground clearances, suspension, performance, safety, technology etc.). It will be ambiguous if we only see cars from a same point of view. I suggest a car good if at least it scores 4 rating in all aspect, may it be safety, performance, dynamic, space, feature, service, budget friendly etc.. On only one point of ground clearance a car buyer must not buy a car.. Now a days if people are buying a car we can't say that is BHEDCHAL(remembering from your past video there was a line.... Sahab, gadi woh khareedein jo raste pe jyada dikhti ho)... Unfortunately I completely don't disagree to this video. Also I can't deny the fact that you said. HOPE TO SEE SOMETHING WHICH IS A CONCLUSIVE ONE. and plz take this as my personal opinion which may be a feedback
@@michaeld3495 performance is good , steering is best in this price point, breaking is also good...My height is 6 feet so for me thigh support isnt enough and the is not that much powerful...But rest off all is very good
I fail to understand why you are anti-SUV. Also, in the recent videos, youbare aggressively sepling Skoda Rapid and VW Vento, wonder why? Are you not aware that a single service of these cars will cover tge service costs of 2 cars? Do you even know that the most replaceable part, orvm and wipers cost upto 3.4x of a normal car?? Are you aware of the VW Diesel scandal?? Now coming to SUVs, I wonder if you have ever been to Golf Course exten road, old Gurgaon, Okhla Ph 1 or 2, Wazirpur Industrial Area, or have driven in Himachal, say Sheetla Mandir-Jwalaji Road, Naina Devi top, or Roorki-Nangal roads, because I have just come back from these and believe me, except a few Expressways, Indian roads are just a hallucination or for Metroiites. SUVs are not a Bhedchal, but a necessity, for Indian roads. Ever thought why Volvos don't run on all routes, thats because only Tata or Mahindra knows and can handle Indian roads and are globally trusted like Toyota for off-roads and poor countries. Sir, ever crossed a pothole made by road levelling, Honda City's base touches the ground. The small stones bounce and fill the area between tyres and brakes, tear the petrol tanks and even exhaust pipes. There was a construction on the hills and the entire road was filled with small stones, trucks and Scorpios passed over it and Ciaz's tyres just kept rotating digging deeper, without moving an inch. Sir, 50 meters left or right of Golf Course road and you don't have roads, then how and why should anyone buy Sedans or Hatchbacks.
One more point to add for Hatchback/Sedan. Characteristic design makes scoop in air to flow from upper front grill/bonnet to the end of roof makes Sedan aerodynamically stable at high speed. But great info from you for "so called SUV lovers".
It is very elitist and easy to call people 'bhed-chal' without understanding thier perspective. Just bcos u think compact SUV is not 'real suv' dont disparagingly say that drive Jeep Compass tab pata chalega.. bhai utna budget hota toh banda khud nahi le leta Compass, Q nexon aur venue leta?? Many ppl in non-urban areas buy compact SUV bcos it meet thier requirement - Gaadho me se nikale, mileage de aur service centre paas ho. Most dont even think about safety, features, build quality. Most non-urban buyers k iye yeh kaafi hai, they dont even know or care if it is SUV, Hatchback, Sedan ,Couple, MidSize Small size..
1 inch?? 209 in nexon, 205 in sonet. so 40-45mm ground clearance. My brother in law has ciaz and in lot places that speed breaker issue happens because of wheel base and ground clearance. Even in city like Delhi lot of places has bad road conditions where these compact suvs are far better than any sedan. We are not driving only in Lutyens Delhi.
Ground clearance is not something that get as after market feature, so customer are right when they choose a car which would not scrape under body on Indian roads. In addition to that higher seating position give clear view when driving.... So opt for something that is a reliable car along with those extra advantao
U are wrong sir this time..i had a hatchback which used to touch the ground 2 times 3 times daily..now i switched to a suv....same roads..still now it hasn't toched the ground for once also..yes that 25 mm matters a lot
Really Appreciate the work you are doing. You take the pain areas and give a detailed insight with effective solutions. There are many RU-vidrs who are solely focused on reviewing the car, but you on contrary has picked the area which is hardly touched upon but is necessarily required to be addressed. Kudos to you ! Keep doing this great work and helping the society :)
I mean when a bumper on the road scratches the underbody or something of the cars, it just bruises past it. And in such a scenario, even that 25 mm extra ground clearance as you call it, does the job of saving the car's underbody. Yes surely in india buying suv is again taking the bhed chaal form. But that's how everything is in india. Everything takes the form of bhed chaal. iit jana hai, bhed chaal ho gya. Iska matlab ye nhi iit bekar hai.. Re iska blame to logo par hai. So companies are doing their job by manufacturing raised cars. But people are looking it as a go to thing, as a formula i.e. 10 lakh rupee car matlab suv hi lena hai. As if any hard n fast rule hai. And frankly speaking, companies aren't making good sedans anymore. The fluidic era of hyundai, was although still a boat, but that visual appeal. Ah ha. Same goes for the city and civic of early 2010s. And then companies make balanced packages as well. Like nexon. Fully packed with 209 mm ground clearance. Makes hella differences and all that with excellent hard+soft suspension. Still managing to have awesome dynamics, best what tata could've managed.
To be precise, on indian broken & uneven roads even that 25 mm = 1 inch ground clearance over the sedan matters a lot. Usually in all hatchback & Sedans, the front bumpers tend to scratch the uneven speed breakers... Things become worse when 5 people are seated or/and loaded with luggage.. under belly gets scratched. Tats the peace of mind, you will have in slightly raised ground clearance cross over or so called compact SUVs. Yes tat adds to body roll. But kuch paana hai toh kuch khona padta hai.😉
Awesome video sir, We indians should really try to understand it. Hyundai creta - 190 mm Skoda rapid -170 mm Ppl r buying a boat and a psudo SUV just fot the tag of SUV. They miss out on the fantastic german, American, japanese cars like rapid, Vento, Ford aspire, City. Ignis is marketed as the "URBAN SUV" everytime someone calls it a suv a endeavour or compass gets crashed 😁😁 Now tata should also spice up things by introducing their proper Sedan in the market
Jb bumper thukega tho samaj ayega..and tum gawar ho... Skoda rapid ki laden ground clearance 116 mm hai jabki Venue ki 190 mm ab kr comparison Tum jaise gawar log kya jane ....
@@cardevta8534 bhai ye link dediya dekhlee.... www.zigwheels.com/newcars/faqs/what-is-the-ground-clearance-of-hyundai-venue Waise 195 mm hai and laden 190 mm hai...
Completely agree with you. Instead of just following the ongoing trend we as consumers must take into consideration the usage of the car and try to hunt for cars that match or exceed in those factors.
I have my 14 years old SX4, thinking to sell it off and buy a new CSUV. After taking a couple of test drives, sadly realized that none of the so called CSUVs are as comfort as my Sx4. and build quality was also far better that time compared to current gen cars. Not sure what's wrong only with Indian auto industry, quality is getting worst year by year.
Owner of city recently took a test drive of hyundai venue. My goodness the stiffness is very prominent . Never gonna compromise ride for looks + hefty price🙏🏻
Sir , you left out the main point, laden ground clearance of some of the compact SUVs are almost equal to that of Sedans , especially the ones with soft suspensions. Ground clearance should always be compared on laden weight , else it isn't a good comparison.
Since Honda has announced VRS(voluntary retirement scheme) for its top management and shut down of its plant in Noida ,is it symbolisam of Honda leaving india. Not only this but lack of innovation and poor line up with only city and amaze making most of the sales how gud can Honda survive in india.Because ford did the same mistake of no new products and no new facelifts and honda is following same . Honda has announced various models like city hybrid and suv based on city but these are postponed again and again or is it just a hype to buy out some time so that it can sort things out before leaving. When u look at the home financials it is evident that it has recorded lose of >1600 in the past 2 years. The most bothering thing is should we consider buying the Honda products City and amaze or look for an alternative. My concern is I am considering buying City v Mt varient at 13.5 L and it's my 1 st car and i don't want to mess up my hard earned money . should I go for city or choose alternative leaving Honda City behind . Please do suggest me in buying decision.
Stability , body dynamics , chassis , quality , handling plus drivers car Ecosport and Xuv300 are far better , that indica stands no where it's only a good family car except nothing
Sir it's after all people's decision! I'll rather buy duster 1.3 or ecosport 1.5 diesel instead of Honda city. CUV makes life more convenient than a sedan. Especially to drivee on indian speed breakers.
Looking at current indian roads.... SUV or compact SUV is the best choice... Not sure if you were paid for this video as you kept repeating names of 2-3 sedan cars for no reason...
Even tata tiago can go to India's first village in arunachal Pradesh. Where 70% road is off-road. Ground clearance does play a big role, but 25cm more won't be special. If you can't beleive me that tiago can go there then search for 'one living life' in youtube and watch the arunachal pradesh series on tiago.
It's more SUVish than any other crossover in its segment. Superb handling, driving dynamics and brilliant comfort. XUV300 is the best compact SUV and those who have driven it can affirm this.
I know they are non practical but good to have features and it's not only Nexon which is offering these features there are others also. Bhed chaal for Tata cars is a dream just now. Example of Bhed chaal in reality is padosi ne Scorpio li toh hamare ghar mein bhi Scorpio hi aayegi bhale hi need Alto ki ho. Or Chacha ji ne Swift li toh vahi achhi gaadi hai hum bhi vahi lenge. This is real bhed chaal not the one that you have mentioned.
@@prakashchandrasharma1009 I completely agree with you. In any case I didn't intend to mention nexon who probably started offering premium features in budget cars. Its a great initiative from Tata. No doubt about this. What I wanted to mean is when there is rain anyone can switch on the wiper in less than a second. Same goes for auto head lamps.
@@sumitsarkar8502 actually rain sensing wipers are given for a reason in Nexon xms which is the sunroof. When it starts raining, the sensor present on the windshield is activated and it closes the sunroof. So if they have already given the sensor, they also gave rain sensing wipers which adds to the feature list and make it a value for money variant. I agree about auto headlamps.
The only SUV making sense for daily use is Nexon EV, centre of gravity and body roll is sorted out due to heavy battery. Tension free from rising Petrol prices. You can visit my channel to get more information.
To the point. You can also add the ready to topple eagerness of these high GC pseudo SUVs to this list. After graduating to proper Sedan, I am loving the way the car tackles corners and high speed stability
Sab study karne ke bad booked Ciaz Delta today! 😊 Please buy car for a car, not for tech like Sonet Also, I did not know anything about cars, negotiations and how to buy...this channel helped me a lot! Thanks dost 🙏🏻
I don't understand what those "compact SUV" do better , it's all bad. I hate them, a good sedan is so better. Else get a proper suv, you get what you pay for !
But i think people like SUVs more is also due to the commanding driving position you get in these car against road clinging feeling you get from Sedans.
SUV for sure... Sedan is out of date now... Even big companies like BMW, mercedes, etc have started making SUV... No company is going to launch Sedan... Only SUV will rule the market... It's not " bhed chal" it's the trend....

Sedan/hatch is always safer than SUV/Compact SUV, just coz it can brake better AWA maneuver better resulting avoiding an emergency collision. To drive sedan/hatch one should be well known reg: terain and road undulations ! SUV is good in rural conditions, and for elderly people, not bothered about road conditions and doesn't drive at high speeds (120 +). My Honda City(4th gen) always inspire me to push it ! Even in zig zag turns/overtaking, it always outruns my expectations !!. It has only 1 con, ie beyond 130 Kmph, its steering and chassis is unstable (express highways). But in ghat windy mountain roads, its a king, coz of its lightweight, resulting better zig zag motion (less steering weight(chassis weight) while cornering). If driven at 50 kmph (b/w 40 to 60), it gives me 20 + mileage (fuel efficiency) with its 1500 cc NA petrol engine (Engine is a gem, and its N:Aspirated revving sound is just orgasmic ). Now a days we have better roads than before and would definitely get even better in future ! If you are an extensive driver, ie driven in various geographical road conditions (flat road), u would love a sedan ! and if u encounter a terrain that's not meant for a sedan, u would park the car safely and just walk forward. U even can climb Mt Everest with your legs, right ?
Can anyone suggest "Is Volkswagen as reliable as Toyota in Maintenance as of 2021" Peace of Ownership(LOW MAINTENANCE!!) , Fun to Drive, enthusiastic driving dynamics, Petrol Automatic is priority which one is better (Yaris / Vento / Aspire)
