This for those that might not follow this channel...yet... I did not buy another Honda 250x like I said I was in this video in 6 months, in fact we sold the 2019 in May on 2020. we got these to add to our collection. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jKQBI6POPAg.html
I just picked up a 91. 2nd owner grand kid who got it wrapped it looks ghetto He didn't like the kick start..... I got it Wish it was red wht & blue! The fuel switch should arrow be pointed up or to nose of machine?
@@lipwptc1713 Thanks for watching the video, and the reply. Congratulations on finding, and getting a 1991!! the fuel switch arrow towards the rear is off. arrow up is on, and arrow down is reserve. hope this helps you out!
Square tubing is stronger every time rather than round. Keep that in mind. Plus 1991 250X is same as a 300 ex. Beast mode!! Old school all the way every day
Mavatar7 all years of the 300ex even the 450r inspired plastics should work you may need the fender brackets but all years of 300ex should work I know for sure 93-06 will cause they are the same atvs only difference between them is just the 300ex has a little longer stroke on the crank rod and 300ex is electric start and the 250x is of course kick only but the topend s are identical and do interchange even the bore I.e. piston is identical the crank rod on the 300ex is what makes the cc difference and I know for a fact you can run a 300ex piston in a 300 fourtrax I ran a 12:1 high compression wiseco 300ex piston in my 94 300 fourtrax utility quad
yes this old man at 50 is tired of kicking it! it's been a pain in the ass since day 1 trying to start, but it still runs great when it finally starts. thx for the video
Funny, I enjoy Riding it now a days, more so than many Years ago. it sometimes starts right up on one kick, but always starts by at least 3 kicks! Thanks for Watching, and the Comment!
We have a 2002, 2008, and 2017 TRX250X....you can't kill those things! I'm an old man but still like to play, once I hit the mx track the 2008 never comes off full throttle and never misses a beat. It's suspension isn't motocross friendly but it'll still do 30' jumps with a good straight run. Running in tight trails it'll eat the 400's and 450's and you will not be tired from fighting a clutch and power all day. Never use to think like this until I met a guy that won a hare scramble on a KLX140 and he turned me on to the idea of small, more maneuverable machines vs big power. I personally believe the TRX250X is the most under rated and dependable quad on the market.
I had 91.$3300 out the door in Orange Texas... gave that thing hell...then the swingarm broke in the very back..bought a new aftermarket +2 swingarm never ended up fixing. sold motor for $350 ..never seen another one since. thanks for sharing
Thank You for Watching and Telling Your Story About Your Quad. I think I paid right around what You Paid for Yours. Take care. Did You ever get another Quad?
The 1987 250 x had more bite in the low end in my opinion. I have owned a 87 92 and am currently building up a 92 . This one I will keep u till they put me in the ground. I'm also around your age and I can tell you appreciate the quality of the old bikes. Beautiful machines sir . Gotta love the 90s . ✌️
Thanks for the Reply! Sounds like You have A Great thing for the past as well. I will have to check out Your Channel for Videos on Your Quads. Thanks for Watching, and the Comment!
@@MichiganQuadTrailsTales what fuel should I run on my 87 250x I just bought it and want to run the correct fuel do I got to run 92 octane or 89 would be fine ?
@@carloscuevas164 I use Rec 89 Fuel in all my small engines around the house. 89 Octane has been good enough for all my quads, no issues with it. When I'm out on the Trails and need to fill up, and they do not have Rec 89, I use 91 octane, and make sure that I run it out, or mix it with rec 89 when I get home. The Alcohol in the fuel eats up fuel lines, and gums up the Carburetor. Thanks for watching, and the Question. Take Care!
Come on man! It starts in one kick and you can practically stay on the seat. Don’t have to mess with a battery and the weight and electronics along with that. Old school kick can’t be beat. Always starts.
Thanks for Watching and the Comment but I have problem with my right foot and it may start with one kick but after taking it out on the trail for the day I'm in pain when I get done.
@@kevinsturtevant272 thanks again for the reply... just so you know, we sold the 2019 and picked up two Honda 400's, one 2008 400Ex, and the 2014 400 X , we enjoy these very much. Oh I'm keeping the Kicker, and ridding it part time, I still enjoy the lightness, and the agility of that cool machine, even if it hurts like Hell at the end of the ride, DNA Drugs and Alcohol...I do not mean drugs as in off the street style ... just extra's of my pain meds, and a couple stiff shots of Beam! Then the Wife Drives up Home. Take care!
Haha. That’s funny. Oh got yourselves a real nice collection now! I have an 87 250x an 82 and 83 atc 185s. Looking to get a 2-stroke something and maybe a bigger quad as well. But like you said. That 250x is just tons of fun and big smiles all day. Hard to find good used machines though. Thrill is in the hunt I suppose.
@@kevinsturtevant272 Best of Luck to You in the Hunt For more Machines. Wow You have A very Impressive Lineup there, I checked out your youtube, and you do not have any videos...get busy man!
@@wranglercody8422 had the same thing happen with a 2003 250 honda but the guy was in my moms neighborhood 20 mins away so no big deal I picked up a clapped ltz400 for 1k and this is my new project 👍
I rather change a chain then fix a broken drive shaft yoke universal joint or even differential gear. Those drive shaft ATVs are a problem just like the old Honda 250 SX
I love my 92 250x but it's got a ATC 350X engine in it talk about a torque monster so much fun to ride and it has the goki electric start for the 350x engine yeah that's what I'm talking about just no reverse but six forward gears makes it fun
@@MichiganQuadTrailsTales no I do not but I will just for you give me a few days to get something together so follow me and I'll show you my baby it is a beast
Actually the 91 trx250x is a 4 valve overhead cam motor high tech for the day and the 19 250x is a pushrod style 2 valve with the cam in the bottomend low tech for the day 87-88-91-92 original trx250x pushes out a bunch more power and torque they really don’t compare in performance terms
That 91 trx250x is 3 times the quad over that fake 2019 recon250 lol but for real I have a mint 87 trx250x and wouldn’t trade it for 3 of the new ones you get so much more atv over the new 250 imo you have a sweet 91 sir better keep it they are doubling in value as we speak
3:36 COMPLETELY different machines. One actually has nice suspension, is light, fast, and doesn’t have extreme body roll. Old reigns supreme unless your a young rider who doesn’t know how to ride a quad.
I have a all original, even tires 87 250x. Tons of torque for a 250 4 stroke. It will stand up on 1 wheel out of a corner. I dont think the new ones will come close.
they both have there high points, for one you can not go out and buy a brand new '91....so for that reason alone I bought a new one! And we like the Electric Start on the '19.
dankgaming4289 Good Question, I do not know the Answer though. I know longer own the 2019, sold it in 2020. so no help to you.thanks for watching the video, and the question.
Yes,the Wife is kinda new to using the clutch,as Her last quad was an auto.Plus while they are learning the clutch, you do not have to worry about it stalling out.
Lol they make a 288 big bore kit for the 91 trx250x so you can run up to a 13:1 high compression piston in the older 250x and it makes twice the power over the new 250x in stock form there’s nothing you can do to the newer 250x to out perform the older 250x period
Just get a Raptor and be done with it old boy. Run you about 9k new and it’ll always be ready. Sell the stock tires and up the size to 22 for rear and 23 for front. Push the button and let her chug. The bigger tires are cushy with more clearance and traction. Power to smoke all of your buddies or keep up with modified machines. Mine is stock with big tires and stock chain and sprocket. Buddy has a Honda 700 independent rear suspension, tuner and pipe. He’s got me on a flat road but I can still whoop him on a track, silver lake dunes, sand whoops and tight curvy trails. The Honda XX 700 rides nicer but it’s heavier and longer than the Raptor. I’m 48 and he’s 42.
I was about to get Two 700R Raptors, and then I found the Two low hour Honda 400's. Sounds like some nice upgrades that you have made to your Raptor . I would get the Rapor before getting the Honda 700, just cause it was only made for a few years, so not a lot of parts available for them, or so I have been told. Thanks for watching, and the Comment! Take Care! Where else do You Ride Besides Silver Lake? Are You Located in Michigan as well? Or just travel to here to ride?
@@MichiganQuadTrailsTales Michigan man for my 48 years. Don’t make a lot of money so we don’t ride often. Silver lake 1 maybe 2 times a year. Howard city, north side of Hamlin lake, Irons area and recently, 102 miles in the Baldwin/ Chase area.

@@MichiganQuadTrailsTales Been strictly hanging drywall for 30 years in the west Michigan area. Live in Wyoming. Today I completed a large house in Fennville and tomorrow, I’ll be in Kent city for a couple days. Always home at night. Money isn’t the greatest but, I enjoy my freedom. This dog can not be chained anymore as of the early 90s. That’s why I bought the Raptor in 2020. Gotta teach the kids and their friends that it’s not twinkies, video games and, overpowered golf carts. It’s good food, working hard and playing hard with quality equipment. Banshee was fun 30 years ago. Some people buy a Corvette during their midlife crises, guess I bought a Raptor. It’s for the children, right? HAHAHA!!!
it is a little slower than the 1991,I had it going 52 MPH,and the '91 hit 56 MPH Same trail same day,me riding both 165 lbs.The 2019 seems just about as good on the trail as the '91,you can not take either of them wide open in the turns,so it does just fine.
well last year I took it out and ran 55 MPH! I do not Remember what it was when it was newer. I think when I drag raced it with the supertrap exhaust it was closer to 60 MPH, but that was so long ago, I do not know for sure.
I work at the Honda factory in sc they are still welded by welders but a lot of suck ass they don’t have a hard weld test to pass so pretty much anyone can get hired
I’m just laughing, because I have a Polaris scrambler 1,000CC. That’s a 250 CC ? Top speeds what 60 MPH ? My Polaris has a top speed of 90 MPH. I thought these where kid bikes, that’s why I bought my 10 year old son one. Didn’t know full grown men ride them hahaha
A Scrambler 1K is pretty much a UTV crammed into a $15,000 quad with an identity crisis. At a certain point you need to figure out if you want to actually ride an ATV you have to pilot and use learned skill to operate (while still having a good time) or if you prefer riding around in a golf cart that goes fast and does everything for you. I would take the '91 in a heartbeat if it was cheap enough, awesome, reliable trail bike.
