@@konnen4518 Axum ruled Yemen for 60 years and they never settled, it was 60 years of resistance, but Yemen ruled horn of Africa for centuries, where do you think Queen of Shiba came from? from where do you think the name Habesha came from?
I am Creole, with roots in Kenya Ethiopian and Somalian of East Africa. I did Ancestry and My Heritage. I was scared to do 23 and Me because of the "Unassigned" dilemma. I did Ancestry in 2018, and each year since then I get a completely different breakdown where some countries disappeared and some come in. I did My Heritage and they break down the regions a bit better and explain exactly which countries are yours particular. They also did an update recently and the only thing that changed was they showed where my ancestors settled In America. My percentage did NOT change at all. Only thing that bothered me was My Heritage stated my white' first, when my Africa was more, mainly because they grouped all the Europe together.
I'm not aware of any significant Somali migrations into the States prior to the late 80s. Did you actually get Somali DNA on 23andMe as a creole? That would be pretty amazing to see.
Imagine hating on PosiLucky’s calm & peaceful videos. Can never be me. All jokes aside, My DNA results updated and it’s pretty different from what I got in 2018. I also want to upgrade to the health one and maybe do a quick video talking about it. I just know Anemia will be the first on that list. 🥴😂
First of all, beautiful video and you’re really beautiful. Second of all, I’m a bit confused. Are three of your grandparents Oromos? It could be that one of your grandparent was an “Oromized” Somali, because both groups used to assimilate each other. Depends on what clan your grandmother was I think!
history ; in the olden days maasais intermarried with somalis and exchanged the art f circumscision. there are some maasais to this day who look exactly like somalis so i guess thats why
I wish I watched this before doing My Heritage. I'm full Oromo on both sides of my family and my results were wild! 49.9% Ethiopian Jewish, 15.2% Somali, 5.9% Nigerian, 4.1% North African, 1.5% Maasai, 18.5% Middle Eastern, 2.5% West Asian, 1.1% Inuit 😂
Omg Inuit too, how!! I’d be really interested to know what your results would be if you did 23andme. It even shows the region you are most likely from. You’re so pretty btw!!
Full social ethnic identity are limit in exploring your deep ancestry. It’s like saying I’m full african American why do I have Northern / western European and Native American ancestry . Well because dtc genetic ancestry are picking up the deep ancestry which won’t align with preconceived ethnic identities
Because most Oromos today were other ethnic groups who were conquered and made to assimilate to the Oromo culture during the period of Oromo expansion. Btw, I totally stand with Oromo people in their struggle for equal representation of their culture and language in Ethiopia.
The Masaai Dna portrays your Nilotic Ancestry. That doesn't necessarily mean you have Masaai DNA, but it could be any other Nilotic ethnic group in souther Ethiopia that were swept up into other ethnic groups via Slavery and the slave trade. But given that Somalis, Boranas and Masaai are all pastoralists, it could actually be true that you have Masaai ancestry.
@@Tmaria-wn3hc Correct.. It shows in their DNA. Even though they are a Nilotic ethnic group, their haplogroup is predominantly E, followed by haplogroup A.
From a Somali Brother... Dear Sister, Somalis and Oromos are the closest Ethnic groups. We share a lot of Words, Culture and Obviously DNA. You are 50% Beautiful and 50% Charming. You can take that to the Bank.
@@yoseph3625 of course we don’t like foreign Oromo too. We Somalis people have our own language and Oromo are different from us. So we are different not same.
The mid east score in horn africans is very real, and related to an old admixture event. Which is why many dna testing companies USED to pick up on it before the updates. There's a reason horn africans are genetically intermediate between middle easterns and sub-saharan populations on a PCA plot (similar to how north africans are intermediate between europeans/middle easterns and horn africans). This is because in deeper admixture runs (especially those that can be cross-referenced to older populations that date back to the iron age, bronze age, copper age, and even the late stone age), signals of admixture get detected. I never understand why people get annoyed at the notion that they carry admixture. It's normal. No human population is purely descended from one group of people. Also middle eastern =/= arab. Some of the middle eastern ancestry in horners predates the arabs.
So, Ethiopia and Eriteria share 52% of your DNA but Somalia is 47% so, that means you are Somali more than any other ethnicity lol Welcome sister lol. I am 98% Somali and 2% Ethiopina/Eriteria lol
i got my myheritage results a couple days ago ( posted a vid) and i have 4% Maasai too! I'm half Egyptian btw but my dad doesn't have it in his DNA lmaooo a mess
Why people assume Arabs are these Persian and Syrian looking tribes . The ancient Arabs were black to dark brown skin Hamitic people. They were never these light skin Persian looking people you now see today, Smh. These were a new migration of people from Persia.smh. The people know this history themselves.
Oromos and somalis are off the same cushitic stock so their genes are pretty close! Even their languages are very close! Together with borana, rendille,...
The bigist misconception of Oromo &Somolia are kushitec. Is utterly wrong.the languge is kushitec not the race. Somali is sematic race similar to Amhara ,Tigere &gurage, hadere. Oromo doesn't share race heritage with Somali. If you need the definitive evidance, pls do more resarch about Ethiopian and somali race .my intention is only to put educate people. I hope this misconception of Oromo & Somali are from the same race is going to be corrected by wider audiance.
I’m Sudanese but they haven’t told me which part of Sudan I am and I also got Ethiopia & eritrean but it never told me the specific area of those countries I originate from , could that change is there a chance they will figure that stuff out or will I be forever curious.
Oromo which means Somali, Oromo is not Ethiopia, Oromo are Somalis who settled in Ethiopia, the language and culture of Oromo is completely different from the culture and history of Ethiopia, Ethiopia is only Amhara and Eritrea, the history, culture and poetry only comes from Amhara and Eritrea, Oromo are Somalis
Yes. I was going to suggest she upload to LivingDNA because of their 2020 ethnic breakdown of African ethnicities. More than any other company and with ethnic tribe descriptions rather than geographical region.
Your def somali too ! Oromos are related to somalis waaay back historically. Genetically you do get 50% from each parent...but its possible that thr 50% u got from your dad was mostly his somali side bc the dna u inherit from each parent is random combos...another thing is its possible that your mom could have somali in her waay back. Ethopian empire once ruled yemen, i am of the beleif many middle eastersn have east african blood instead of vice versa lol. Massai people were nomads and its likely that they moved through the horn from higher up or diff areas including somalia and ethopia. Could be that they have picked up some ethopian ancestry alog the way and moved further south. They were once many massai but were massacred by colonizers systematically. Nice vid sis.
A small persent of Oromos in the south and east are related to somalis but the majority of Oromos who live in the central highlands are only Oromo by language and not by blood. Central Oromos are more related to the Amaras and Tigre by dna than they are to south eastern Oromos or to Somalians.
@@jasonsimms4238 i agree...original oromos somalis anfars and bejas were very related however...as the groups have divided and relocated...they have intermarried with other groups that were close and once distinct...in this case many oromos like u mentioned have lots of amhara in them. Currently there are many southern somalis who have bantu mixes in them which is more recent mix due ot recent migrations also...not all even have any ethnic somali in them, but identify heavily with the culture language and religion...with some having mixed with Somalis or others in the area.

@@shacabweynaha801 i never talked about bantu in my comment at all? Are you talking about massai ? Modern massai have changed alot bc they intermingle with many kenyan tribes which are bantu. Not all are fully bantu. Somalis only keep track of their fathers side..no way to know what the mothers were way back when bc they dont track it. Although many are very similiar...there are small mixes here and there...which is why genetix tests for most show diff forms of east africans..i noticed this with over 500 somalis i was linked with via genetic tests they all had similar percentages and mixes

Lmao laughable, Oromo isn’t the source of anything.💀 if you look at any Somali doing a DNA test not one single person gets Oromo in their results, however whenever you see an Oromo do a DNA test they always have a percentage of Somali whether it be 5% or 15%.
@@prism0_0 You don't understand DNA! There is no Somali DNA! There is no Oromo DNA! Maybe Horn of African! Maybe! Our folklore is more accurate then the DNA! Because Somalis are obsessed with their ancestors wanting to be Arab and all. The have sent thousands of DNA to those DNA banks. And a handful of Oromo have had their DNA taken! DNA is still in its infancy, in areas where DNA data is has proliferated you can find differences among siblings! I could open a 'DNA' bank and you can send me your sample and I can give you your results without opening the box. How you ask? Just look at the name Abdi Farah! I feel whenever Kenya is brought up it’s always Maasai. Maasai people have retained most of the traditions and lifestyle. So whenever most westerners think of kenya or Kenyans they think Maasai. So not shocked that actually showed up! But very odd though
I think it probably represents Nilotic ancestry in general not necessarily Maasai DNA. My heritage is really weird honestly like it’s so off, I am kikuyu like you but it came up with all sorts of weird unlikely stuff w my DNA. 23andme is better but I wish they had more specific categories.
@@Trumblebee I am a Kenyan Nilote but my Ancestry DNA indicates I am 59% Ethiopian, 21% Maasai , 12% South-east Bantu and the rest Middle east, asia etc. On doing some research,I discovered that The Maasai were the original inhabitants of east Africa regions and the Khoisan and Khoikhoi were the original inhabitants in the Southern Africa, Oromo and Nubians in the north east and horn of Africa, Bantus are original inhabitants of the congo basin and west africa. The Oromos and nubians and largely nilotes migrated south along the river nile and the rift valley and intermarried and mixed with the maasais in east Africa and formed present day Nilotes. With the entry of arabs of Yemen and middle east due to trade. They intermarried with mainly the oromos and somalis came into existence across east Africa. The last group to migrate we the Bantus who came towards the east and on wards migrating southwards ,Hence the bantu DNA in many peoples of east africa which vary a lot depending on origin.
@@vector_vector__ I already said it in the previous video. Both my mom and dad are mixed Somali and Oromo. My mom is mostly Oromo, my dad is mostly Somali.
Your sort of bias lol genetic genealogy and population genetics doesn’t care about your socio political perception . My heritage seems like the most accurate because they were able to pick up your west eurasian ancestry that 23 & me and ancestry miss . Which is why uploading your raw data to sound admixture tools are way better then these dtc genetic ancestry tests
@@ajax1472 Hi there. Yeah I agree and I have nothing aginest any mixed people, God knows what I will find if researched my ancestors. However, our enemies use the excuse to say that we are not African which is a lie since we Oromo are native to Africa. Naggatti and peace.
