Great stuff! Lures are great when the fishing are biting like mad. But if I have to cast a lure more than about three times, I'm way too lazy to use them. I like to cast out a bait and sit back and relax. The other problem with lures is that old saying; "Lures are made to catch fishermen." And, if you look in some people's tackle boxes, you can see why... They have hundred's of dollars worth of lures! I don't think circle hooks are designed for lures. Some people flatten the barbs on the hooks, which makes removing the hooks very easy. Keep up the good work!😃
Haha true about the lures, I get hesitant and worried about using some of my lures, many are a work of art, & sometimes I go through my tackle box's at night admiring the lures still in their packets, and go into a dream state🎣🎣😁.
I outfish lure fishermen all the time using bait for kahawai (Aussie Salmon) at rivermouth. If kahawai are schooling then yea lure is faster and easier. Given a choice I'll always choose bait.
I agree, if the fish are there then lures work fast, but using bait is still my preference. I'm not into walking up and down a beach flicking in lures.
Yes once again Fantastic Video. I'm a bait fisho more relaxing enjoying the moment but at the same time will always carry lures. These days I will catch a feed for the day.nothing better than a fresh fish out the sea and in the pan the same day.😊
Finally was able to take some time out from work to watch the video! Very very proud Linda! Love this! The trusty silver Halco twisty! You can’t beat it. I agree with Martin on hooks. I change all lures to single hooks and only use lure with trebles when I’m wanting to keep some fish. To answer your question too Martin yes you can absolutely catch two salmon on one lure hook! Been there 😂 Bait fishing ‘work smarter not harder’ Salmon Lure fishing ‘why do I feel like I’ve ran a marathon?!’ Tight lines guys! 🎣
Glad you liked it Kim! I have bought a rod to flick lures now so look forward to trying it out. Shame that we have had to come back to Adelaide for a while...will severely limit my fishing activities 😢
I reckon they both work fine. If it's quiet mix it up and see what works. Another thing we do bait fishing is bait on the bottom and a $5 popper on the top
I love lure fishing best, for sure. It makes catch and release easier and the challenge makes it more rewarding. That looked to be a Halco lure or similar, which is my go-to lure here on KI for everything from salmon to snook. Wait till you try soft plastics, they are real fun too. You should also try putting a feathered, cork popper on the top dropper of your bait rigs. Works well and means you’re always presenting even if crabs or pickers get your bait. And lastly, great advice on trebles, they are horrible for fish, fishing and unintended human bits and should be avoided.
Nice session you both got your arms stretched that day👍 I to love lure fishing for salmon it's the best way wen they are right in front of you. Peace tight lines 🎣
Sometimes bait will catch the fish when theres not many about as its in the zone more of the time but when lures are on they are really on and much more fun. I lure fish more than bait fish these days particularly soft baits which catch everything around here.
@@Martin.B. indeed a boot might be a struggle but the best story was my 10 yr old was watching a TV fishing program on making lures He asked if he could make one in my workshop I agreed so off he went a while later he turned up with a lure and asked if he could go fish down at our local beach I agreed so off he went (very close by no roads to cross) so picture this me and my wife are having a lazy Sunday morning lie in eating breakfast in bed when in walks an excited 10yr old with a very alive thrashing Kahawai (salmon) bleeding and dripping salt water hanging off the end of his rod. Wife was not amused!!!!
You can't see it but there is a big dtop off and I was being lazy thinking I could get away with not changing boots😂....I have the same Adrenaline boots as Linda and should have put them on 👍
