The 1968 (ii) is my preferred one. Crispy basses, strong first string, and lots of clarity and voice separation. Thanks for the great video!

28 years ago, I bought a one of a kind Oribe. For years I searched for a better guitar, I tried a couple of Frederichs, they were excellent. I tried other Oribes as well. Perhaps it is all subjective, but I always compared guitars with the strings I normally play, Augustine reds. I finally just fixed up my Oribe. It is a good thing that all good guitars are slightly different, but I still prefer my bold, spicy and sweet sounding Oribe. For these I preferred the first 68 and the 77, it is subjective.

I favorite is the 1968 recital (i) followed by 1965 SP/CY. I think I'm more a spruce guy 😆

1979 for me then the 1965 guitar! Great video.

The best of the bunch is the 1968(II) followed by 1965 then 1977. I understand Friederich shortened the fan braces for the cedar guitars and added a cross brace. Right? I really like this format.

Did the bracing change with any years? What type of strings? Thanks for the wonderful demo!

The 1977 really stood out to me. Very rich bass and full-bodied. They were all beautiful, though.

Lovely guitars one of his points was evenness of sound up and down the neck volume and tone. Number 2 ceder edged it for me with the bass string sound

It's Standchen by Schubert, played a little more softly than is often heard. It's one of Siccas' fave demo pieces.

I liked the DF guitars from the 70's - the sound was more balanced and they projected well. But all DF guitars have a sound that is 'larger than life' quality. Please note: the cyprus guitar by DF did not appeal to me; it had crispness, typical of spruce top.

wow I would take any of those guitars;-) ( do you need my address?). Great demo too, excellent playing and choice of material showed lows, mids, and highs, balance and sustain. I think my preference was the 68(ii) and the 65. The spruce tops - to my ears had a bit more power in the bass and a bit more separation of the notes. Very subtle differences though they all are great guitars.

Great minds think alike. First place goes to the second guitar from 1968, very close Second place for the first guitar from 1968, and a close third place to the one from 1965.

The guitars from 1978 are obviously good, but they don't stand out in anyway for me. While I am able to recognize that they are good guitars, I would not in anyway be interested in buying one. The two guitars from 1968, particularly the second one, number four in this video, those are amazing guitars in every way. I am unable to understand how the Maestro would have thought the sound of the 1970s to have been better than the sound of his guitars from the 1960s. He did think so because he continued using mostly cedar, and never went back to the excellent boxy sound with lower body resonance of the 60s, a great pity indeed.
