I purchased a heavy action hot pink Catch the Fever Hellcat rod this past January as a birthday present for my girlfriend. The rods retail for $140 on the CTF website, but I think I picked it up at the fishing expo for around $100. While It looks nice, I felt it was a little underpowered to be called a heavy rod. You can see it in action in another video here:

A few weeks ago, I picked-up a heavy MadCatz Luna rod. It's the same length (7'6") and has the same number and style of guides, but it's a heavier blank. The overall weight of the MadCatz rod is 1 lb 6 oz while the Hellcat weights 1 lb 1 oz. The base diameter of the MC rod is 18 mm while the Hellcat is 15 mm. I also like the color scheme more and it was priced around $100 at the tackle shop where I bought it.
I think the manufacturer and materials are largely the same, it's just that a heavy rated Hellcat rod is more like a medium heavy rod, whereas the Madcatz is a true heavy action. We plan to fish for old drum this Labor Day weekend, so hopefully, we'll have some footage of the rod in action with additional feedback on the performance.
Tight lines!

I have a green hell cat it’s caught some good freshwater drums and have a green madkatz rod and reel combo on the way both heavy

You're confused about the "action" of the rod versus the "power" of the rod. A rod rated as "fast action" means that the rod has a faster taper thus making the rod stiffer. "Heavy power" just means its rated for heavier loads. Most of your somewhat higher end rods list both the power and action right on the rod. You can have an ultralight power rod with a fast action and it will be a stiff little rod, but it won't hold up well to big blues or flatheads

I looked at the bcf hellcat a few times and I gotta be honest the wrapping on the guides was horrible with that said the original bcf rods the quality seemed great

Vexan rods are really good js

Definitely not same manufacturer. MK rods are heavy and glass. CTF are carbon composites that responds better than a MK. MK rods fade even when not in sun. And to top it off they snap when you cast them. I’ll stick with a Triple City Angler Force Rod or a CTF Rod.
