I'll always say this. Milwaukee puts more effort into their budget tools than Dewalt or Makita. From what I've seen, most of the time you need to buy a non professional brand if you want decent entry level tools at a good price. Milwaukee gives you a good value on their budget tools, while offering a great platform to upgrade from!

Fair point. Their entry level still feels like a premium too just offers less performance.

Nice compilation of all the impacts, especially for someone new to the line. I just upgraded my Gen 1 M12 impact and hammer drill to Gen 3. I’m impressed with the size reduction and power bump. Plus, the drill went back to the mechanical clutch. I have the installation driver for smaller stuff.

The one key feature is really nice, my impact driver doesn’t have it, but my 1/2 high torque, 3/4 high torque, and 1 inch all have it. The biggest reason I wanted it, if the tool ever walks off by itself, you open up the app and it will tell you where it’s at. On my big high torques, you can set lower power levels which is super useful when you want to get close with an impact and then do a final torque with a torque wrench.

Yeah I have similar features on a few other brands and while I don’t end up using it a ton I think the tech to be be able to fine tune the tool for repetitive tasks is pretty awesome.

I have a 2850 and really like it. It's lighter than a 2953 and the most common screw that its used for is a #9x1.75 flooring screw. The difference in time is negligible. The newer 3650 is a half pound lighter than the 2953. Its only 0.1lb heavier than a m12 fuel impact. When you are using them to drive 200 #6x1.25 screws at eyeball level over a day the weight is way more of an issue.

What are the numbers when you put the forge battery on the older model m18 drivers?
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools 9 месяцев назад
The impact drivers in general don’t see as big of a bump from more premium batteries as a drill or a saw does. I have run them and they do run a little bit but then they also run a little better on a 6ah HO. But it’s not a significant jump in my opinion.

Milwaukee's impact drivers are the one (and only) category of tool that, as a Makita guy, I must concede that Milwaukee's power is simply far superior in their flagship models. Their triggers are not reliable, but their power is so far superior that it makes up for it so long as you have some form of a backup. That is not the case when comparing the 2804 and 2904 with the XPH14: in that case the power difference is negligible.
@AwesomeActsOfRandom
@AwesomeActsOfRandom 9 месяцев назад
As your friendly neighbourhood Dewalt guy, "The milwaukee had a full battery, you were using the highest torque setting, and you were pushing down harder on the milwaukee. Try doing that with the dewalt and do the test again." 🤣
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools 9 месяцев назад
Makitas impact have their place with precision and refinement but you are right power and speed is definitely a Milwaukee strong suit.
@devonboyer626
@devonboyer626 9 месяцев назад
Not to sound like a fanboy, but I'm pretty sure Milwaukee fuel drill beats the xph14 by quite a bit, just like the impact. Can't really call that a negligible power difference.
@jasonhoyt8232
@jasonhoyt8232 9 месяцев назад
@@devonboyer626 that has not been my experience, at least when comparing my 2904 and xph14.
@TinkerWithTools
@TinkerWithTools 9 месяцев назад
I have video's comparing the two. My experience with the XPH14 is that it has protections that cause it to cut out sooner than the Milwaukee. So it doesn't feel weaker necessarily up to a certain point but then will fail on more challenging tasks. Second, Milwaukee has a host of batteries that improve the performance of the drill, like the HO batteries and the new Forge battery. The Makita doesn't have those options on the LXT side of things, make it feel like a bigger gap depending on how you use the tool.
