Got one this week. Also have the latest M12 impact driver. The Surge is way more pleasant to use due to how much quieter it is - no video does the difference any justice. I may never reach for the gen 3 impact again.
Seriously, in 2024, we don't really care about speed or tork. They all do fine now. Precision, Noise, durability, weight and capacity to fit in crammed places are the "differenciators".
@@realJohnJohn M18 Fuel model if you’re using for your profession and need speed. Surge models are good for around the home and woodworking but pricey. M12 fuel for light tasks and carpentry. Non fuel m18 if you’re on a budget and want some oomph too.
I'm a handyman that does big projects sometimes. Every once in a while i need strong torque. I can only budget one, since mine went out and wasn't strong enough. What u reccomend? The surge seems tempting due to accuracy, but the torque of the first one is tempting.
@@wylian84 you’re right on the edge really between the fuel and surge fuel models. The surge is somewhat slow for lags and has moderate torque, though plenty for most tasks. Don’t get it as your only. The fuel is prob the way to go since it has multiple speed modes and is more versatile. Surge isn’t good as the only in your arsenal, but it’s still one of my favorites for light and medium duty jobs.
