Very worthwhile series. Great job covering the basics from A-Z and sparing us the weeds (which we can research on our own)! Question: I have a Premium license at work and appear to have admin privelages. Yet, when I try to create tables for a solution that option is not enabled. What is missing from my configuration and what should I ask my admin to do?

You must have system customizer or system administrator role for the environment where you'd like to build a table.

Hi Shane!! Firstly I want to say thanks for this video. It was very easy to understand the concepts. Secondly, let me add a comment regarding to "design issue between model driven to Canvas. I think there's a BIG difference between both but in order to balance a little bit that difference Microsoft has introduced PCF Control for Model Driven Apps. So with that tool we can make them a little bit cute as a Canvas. Finally, I agree with all you have said. Thanks!

A great summary of the pros and cons. One of the main reasons I tend not to use Model Driven apps is that my clients might want to add functionality which I can't build in a MDA but I know I can build pretty much anything in Canvas apps. @Veerle Swartebroekx I disagree - Canvas apps are much better for more complex scenarios, MDAs are quite limited in some areas. I like the native Responsive capability of MDAs, but found I wanted to change which fields appeared in portrait phone view....seems you get the first 4 fields from the View, no option to have 3 or 5 fields...My conclusion is that MDAs are good for 'Data Management' team but don't quite cut it for UX required for other teams like Customer Service.

Hi Shane, The licensing appears confusing to understand. I was able to create a solution with the Model-driven and Canvas apps, then also exported and imported in to a new environment. There the Canvas app tells me "my license has expired"?

Hi Shane, Great video once again. Thanks. What are the limitations on building Canvas App using Dataverse?
@ShanesCows
@ShanesCows Год назад
Nothing specific I can think of. Building a Canvas app on Datavers should give you the absolute most functionality available.

It seems I can build and share model-driven apps in the default environment w/o a premium license. Is that a glitch? Will I get charged later?

It's not adviced to do this in de default environment and I do find it a glitch that it's possible to do this. Everyone in your environment can mess with your model driven apps in the default environment. If you want to experiment with model driven apps, you can try model driven apps for Teams which is a light version. Or you can set up a personal dev environment, as long as you have "system admin" role in there, you don't need to be licensed.

So far I have not seen anything apart from native responsivity that would move me towards model driven app. It just seems user-unfriendly.

I see model driven apps as better suited for complex and more "serious" applications (including dynamics 365). Canvas apps are fun but only for simple and rather streightforward apps. I must say that I personally don't care at all at how an app looks, so to me it is an advantage that I don't need to worry about that, but I can see this being a disadvantage for someone who cares about the appearance of an app.

@@veerleswartebroekx6816 true. We actually discontinued using dynamics 365 because it was too complex, so it really does come down to company/individual needs.
