I also really love it! I compare it to A. Gallo*s Notturno(which is a bit warmer) and to Schmincke‘s Tundra Violet. They are a bit similar, though each is unique and beautiful in my opinion.
@@msfrehel8758 I also have the tundra violet and it is close indeed but definitely more brown than purple. Plus I love the formulation of Roman Szmal granulating paints so much more than the Schmincke ones
Thanks a lot for the videos! I really appreciate that you take the time to compare all these colors, it is so helpful! If I can suggest one thing, if you could write the pigment number on the swatch cards, it would help me a lot because I can't remember all of them while watching 🙈 Now I need to go and order my first Roman Szmal colors... 😂
@@chromaphile I ordered Aquarius Grey, Iron Chrome Brown, Hematite (violet shade), Perylene Violet, Perylene Green Deep, Chromium Green Oxide Dark, Quinacridone Scarlet and Cobalt Blue light. And they are all just really beautiful! 🥰
I'm currently narrowing down my watercolors. My main pallet now Is 16 colors that break down to like 10 that I feel are necessary to be able to easily make any color I would ever need.... Then 6 slots for a few convenience colors along with a few that just make me happy and will change from time to time.
Thank you this comparison is really helpful! And now I'm determined to get that pr207 😂 I loove rose dore mainly because of the color itself but it would be nice to get a similar more vibran color. And to be fair I find Roman Szmal's version of prussian blue is the Best out of all the brands that I ever tried before 🥰
Between your videos and the sale at Jackson's, I just had to get some Roman Szmal paints to try! So excited to swatch my new colors when they get here! Great video as usual 👍
I so enjoy your videos... sipping my coffee while hearing your thoughts on these new colors. I still haven't picked any Roman Szmal colors, but your upclose comparison videos/swatching has helped me pick the ones I want. I'm more of an opaque/warmer color kinda gal!
Repeats "I don't need any more Roman Szmal paints" while coveting the Gamboge Hue and Geothite. I have 7 spaces left in my third Roman Szmal palette but I'm desperately trying to resist filling it up! Lovely video Jools, I don't know if it was just me but the music seemed to increase in volume about a third of the way through. It wasn't enough to drown your voice, but definitely louder than the previous bit.
The music probably did change, I edited in a bit of a hurry today but glad it wasn't too detrimental 😊 the gamboge hue is so lovely and also not like any other yellow I've seen - though I don't have an Indian yellow or Hansa yellow deep to compare it to, so maybe if you have those you don't need it. I know what you mean about resisting filling the gaps, I think I'm going to have a clear out and give away/sell some colours I don't use!
Thank you for these comparisons! I definitely want the Quin. Warm Scarlet to replace W&N Rose Doree (gummy, clumpy), even though I have the Quin. Scarlet because it seems warmer and brighter.
I really enjoyed watching this one again, as I had been interested in Roman Szmal’s Geothite for some time, among many others - I am very much in the “collector” bracket within the art community. I watch all of your videos Jules, but very seldom comment - a little shy of doing so. However, I always enjoy your content, therefore always press the “like” button. Thank you for uploading so many excellent videos, and actually many very unusual ones too. You have given me so much knowledge about pigments and just how they interact, or how different a pigment can look depending on the process it undergoes in the labs - that one used to have me frowning imagining a typo etc. I know you work in a lab, therefore I also use your pronunciation of some of the colours as gospel 😀😂 You deal with long unpronounceable names daily. You could actually make a whole video on the subject of the technical names for pigments, why it is used on some colours by every manufacturer, where sometimes, they will opt to change the name. I am filled with whys when it comes to all aspects of pigment names. You may not feel qualified to help us tongue tied in the art community, but trust me you are!! I always plump for the way you pronounce it for reasons already stated, so why not put many others out of their tongue tied misery? You can make it lighthearted and fun, so as not to cause offence to those that may be easily offended within RU-vid Art land, although your entire following are excellent and enjoy fun chats here and in the Community tab. Apologies for the long waffle, looks like I am making up for all the times I did not comment!? 😂😳🤷♀️👩🏻🎨🖌️🎨🙌🏻🌈
Thanks for the lovely comments Anita!! I really enjoy reading all the comments on my videos so don't be shy - I'm just a little slow at replying sometimes :) You're not the first person to ask for a video about pigments, it's definitely on the list. Just need to figure out how to make it not boring!
I definitely want that gamboge hue😍 And the Aquarius violet is lovely as well. Also, a few of the new reds might be heading my way. I agree with your assessment of the indanthrone blue. It is fine, but I really love the M.Graham and Wallace Seymour versions. They are more luminous and do not have that dull drying shift so many other brands have. Thanks for the video!
@@nicolemiller9236 I'm sure it's a beautiful warm yellow, but I will say I've not seen anything like this gamboge hue in all my swatching experience. Let me know if you try it!
I knew I could count on you for some incredible comparisons! My brain doesn't work in pigment numbers so I rely on you for that valuable information! I definitely want that natural umber reddish, the texture is delicious!
I WAS hoping to get some RS this month…unfortunately, I was told I have a county inspection on the 13th. There’s some things, like my smoke & CO detectors on my 13ft ceiling (that I had to pay a neighbor to remove this past year when they started chirping and driving my Princess crazy..now I need them back up, among other things. Have to wait till next month..barring anymore unexpected expenses
