My biggest issue with jeans is that a pair that fits comfortably standing up almost never fits comfortably for me when I’m sitting because of my tummy. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this aspect when you’re reviewing jeans! (If they’re stretchy enough to fit sitting down then they usually ride down when I’m walking and if they’re not stretchy, they dig in when I’m sitting and it’s uncomfy)
i always do "the sit test" when i try on jeans or pants in general. you basically just try to sit down and see if the pants are big enough and dont stab your stomach or are too big in the back etc. idk if this is any help but just a tip that works for me! :)
I literally unbutton my pants whenever I sit, I've found no other way around it. If I sit in jeans buttoned it makes my stomach sick after a bit and I get bloated. I haven't found a single pair of jeans that this doeant happen with
@@daniellegonsalves3745 omg that sounds horrible. i always buy my jeans second hand at thrift stores and my tip is to just try every pair that seems to be your size or bigger/smaller cause you never know if they will fit (sizes are weird). it can be hard to try a lot of jeans, to go through pairs that doesnt fit at all can be mentally difficult but when you find a pair that fits its amazing and worth it
I love the rise on the Levi’s tho, that’s the kind of high rise I want in a pant lol I 100% agree tho, especially in covid times where u can’t try anything on in a dressing, super annoying. I’m always between sizes and would rather too loose than too tight so I always end up in clothes that are slightly too big no matter what size I am
I had the same issue with Levi’s I ordered in size 10 vs 12. Couldn’t even button the 10 vs the waist being too big on the 12. Also same with Old Navy jeans. I was depressed for a week!
Have you done a video on everlane jeans? If not would love to see that, I’ve wanted to love their jeans but me having a belly I just can’t find a comfortably fitting pair 🤷🏼♀️
Girllll I bought Jean shorts from target (Wilde fable) and I’m tall and mid size so I ordered a 14W which is the smallest plus size they offer because I wanted them to be longer. They were big on me. Like pull off big so then I ordered 2 sizes above my real size, 16 regular, I am usually a 12-14 and they were sooooo tight. Like couldn’t sit down tight so then I purchased the largest size in regular which was a 18 and they were almost as big as the smallest plus size. How do size, just one up, change so drastically!! I’m with you girl. Nothing fits correctly. 😂😂
The problem you had with the Levi’s is the same problem I used to have with forever 21. The largest straight size was too small and the smallest plus was too big. So frustrating
I LOVE wild cable (target) jeans fit. The wide leg was my favorite, however the quality is horrible. I had them less than a week, bent down to grab something and they split, like they do in the movies. I was sooo sad because they looked amazing but never again.
Totally understand being midsized. When I was young I would always get upset because the stores would never have my size. My mom would just tell me that my size is gone because everyone wears thats size
Typically there is a “Misses” size 16, and a “Women’s” size 16. “Misses” being regular size (usually a 32) and “Women’s” being plus size (usually between a 33/34). With Levi’s, check their size charts for the waist size. For instance, one style 16W is listed as a size 34, but that 34 has a 38.25” waist. In the same style a 16R is listed as a size 32, but those have a 35.75” waist. Weird
A 16w is a size 16 with a wide(r) waist. A 16R or 16 would be a standard size 16. With the company I work for one of their jean brands don’t offer a 16R it goes 13, 15, 14W, 16W and so on. And we have definitely had customers in between sizes.
I don’t know how it is for men’s jeans but with shirts I guarantee you every man I know aside from my dad (who wears an XXL) wears a medium. My brother is a 5’8 gym rat with biceps the size of my head, medium. My boyfriend is 6’1 and has very thick shoulders and tapers only a little bit, medium. My friend is built like a 5’7 twig, medium. It’s hilarious but so aggravating as a girl who wears small, medium, or large depending on the brand.
Unpopular opinion: Levi's are overrated 😂 depending on what body type, but literally the only pair I've actually loved were ones I had to literally resize myself (the ribcage ones were the worst for me, even with the ones that fit they still just were awkward on me)
I agree to a point. It honestly depends on body, size, shape. I personally love the ribcage ones - hug me ass tight and honestly super comfortable for me. But second hand ones are hard to come by in smaller sizes for me without spending an arm and a leg on them in Australia. EVERYONE up scales the price on Levis...
I would love to see a try on for black jeans! I have pairs of jeans I love but from the same brand the black wash is completely different and I cannot find a good pair! I know the wash is what changes the sizing but id love to see you & your favs!
IM LITERALLY DEAD ASS IN THE MIDDLE TOO! It’s sooo frustrating! You should definitely do a video where you try to find the best options for us girls RIGHT in the middle 😭
Could you do an old navy jeans try on?? I bought my first pair recently out of random because I saw them on sale for $24?! and I am in LOVE with them! I would love to know if they are consistent throughout the jean ranges they offer.
They're not. As someone who wears a lot of old navy pants I've definitely noticed some mild differences. The biggest thing I notice is dark pants (jeans and other pants) are a half size to almost full size smaller than regular denim or other colors. Otherwise, I find some different styles to be a little different depending on stretch of fabric etc, but I'm normally either a 12 or 14 and I'm hardly ever outside of those 2 sizes.
h&m has definitely changed their sizing! I used to be a l-xl in their skirts at a size 8 and now I'm a medium at a size 10-12. and their size 10 jeans fit me like a 10!
as someone who shops at h&m, they definitely have improved their sizing! but their plus sizes in pants are still whack haha. They did, however, add more xl and xxl in a lot of their straight size clothing!
I would love to see a Sezane try on! I’ve seen so many people wearing the brand but I don’t know how it would fit on someone like me who’s a size 16 and I’ve not seen anyone make a video about the brand that is not a size small.
I would love to see a "Trying H&M's new sizing" video!! I know they changed their size chart a while back, so I would love to know how their clothes fit a 14/16 body now.
Levi’s is so inconsistent when it comes to sizing. if a same style came with different colours all of them would be sized differently which is strange to me.
I've seen Levi's larger than a 14 in straight sizes. They go by waist size, I think I've seen them go up to a 35 inch waist. I know Target is now carrying Levi's too. Levi's are some of my favorites, I'm currently a smaller size 14.
I checked this out, too, because that is exactly what I thought. In the Ribcage jeans, the sizing is more limited. I wonder why they make certain jeans with a smaller size range?
Omg I’ve never been so early to a video!!!! Ah! Carrie your videos are my literal fav. My bf knows when you’re on to hush so I can focus 😂😂 he’s like “oh, Carrie Dayton is on. I’ll leave” 😂
Girl, you should totally creat your own clothing line for us mid size girls!! Lol because I feel it. Plus size clothes are too big for me and standard size is too small for me
"you know that moment when you're zipping up, and you feel like you might zip your stomach"... I really felt that. I sucked in the moment you said it lol
Good freaking lord I wish my mom or any of my weight obsessed aunts had simply said "It is human and normal to have a belly," when I was growing up. So simple but powerful. Goddess bless you, Carrie
I've definitely had the same thing where tight thighs pull the pants down. My thighs have gotten a little smaller recently and I've been surprised that some of my pants actually stay up more easily without a belt now.
Please do an H&M jeans haul. Their sizing is all over the map but their "conscious" line is really trying. So many of us love you and shop there so it would be really helpful if you could do a try-on! Thank u ❤️ u
A 16 plus is like an 18 straight size. When you go into a plus line, you need to go down a numerical size than what you are in straight sizes. So if you think you’re a true size 16 in straight sizes, you’re a 14 in plus.
I've been feeling way more comfortable in my own skin because you look so darn diggity beautiful. I have a tummy, not that it's REALLY sticking out, but it's there. My grandma used to Tell me to suck it in from when i was about 8 years old. Watching your video's made me feel more comfortable because it made me realize "hey a tummy doesn't make you look ugly, it's actually very beautiful". Thank you
Try Lee Jeans (espacially the coop with H&M the flared/wide leg in White/light blue ) they are sooo flattering and verry good quality. And tbh I have never felt better in any pair of Jeans, they have the perfect length and are tighty in the bumm area and verry lose below the knee, they are awesome ^^
I’m also a 14 or 16 but sometimes 16 is huge on me. I don’t get it! I’m only 5ft too so I always need the petite sizing. 14 short or 16 short and those sizes are so hard to find good fitting jeans.
I'm a size 14 and only 5ft tall too! I'm a pear shaped. Every time I find a pair of jeans that is the perfect length and fit really good. They redesign or discontinued the jeans they no longer fit the same and are too long.
Can you please please please please please please do a Zara Jean try on haul! Please please. I have been trying to purchase some jeans but all I see is girls in size 25 and umm, no ma’am! Thank you! 😘
The last time I shopped at H&M I was trying to find a dress and the sizing was hilariously bad... in one dress I was swimming in a 2 and in another I couldn't get a 10 to zip??? Wut??
Something about Levi - their sizing will change from pair to pair. I’ve bought two of the same jean in the same size and one will fit and the other will be too small. I love the 501 originals, but it can be annoying to get a pair that fits great.
Carrie, this is strange... but I would love to see you try different types of underwear. I have realized at almost 30 that I was wearing underwear that didn’t fit. If someone would have just told me 20 years ago to wear comfy underwear!!! Just me? It changed my entire perspective of my body.
Being midsize myself... It's a real struggle. I started to hate wearing jeans because I could never find that "perfect fit". It's all about leggings for me, now more than ever. 😅
I would love to see you try the brand Decade Studio (which is a Vancouver compagny. They're lauching extended sizes soon!) They are really pricy, but seem to be very high quality! I'd be curious to see what they look like irl. Thank you (PS I love your videos!)
I have inflammation issues and I literally change sizes throughout the day. It's so frustrating because even stretchy clothes look completely different throughout the day. I can put something on and go from looking great to being strangled by my clothes in a matter of minutes. Sometimes I feel like clothing companies actually hate us.
personally, I love the American Eagle jeans I have. I literally just posted a similar video trying on petite jeans and the AE pair were by far the comfiest and fit me the best!!
omg yes i HATEEEE levis sizing. i feel like it’s not midsize friendly and sooo inconsistent. i have never found a pair that fit me perfectly. i hear so many thin people rave about how they’re some of the best fitting jeans and i’m like best fitting for who? 👀
I ordered a size 14 in their ribcage jeans bc that’s my normal jeans size. Tried them on and they did not fit AT ALL. I was really confused so I looked through their size charts again realized I’d be an 18 🙃 I’m only able to find ones that fit when I thrift in the men’s section.
As much as I want to love Levi’s, I think they’re sizing is pretty difficult. I have a pair of 501s size 30 and they’re kind of loose on me, but my size 30 Ribcage jeans are super tight in the waist but perfect everywhere else. I got rid of a pair of Wedgies (again, sz 30) because even though they fit pretty well they gave me a squared off look. Shockingly, Gap jeans have been my best jean purchases lately. Their high rise black skinny jeans (get the tall size and roll up) are great as well as their 90s cheeky high rise.
I love Gap too, but their sizing is often very inconsistent between styles. I’m * usually* a 29/8 but today some of their 10s in a more structured denim I couldn’t even get past my thighs. Like, what? No judgement to anyone or anything but I refuse to go up any higher....
They did, but I find they still fit weird, just different??? If that makes sense. The little size helper tool where you put what size you are in a certain store and it matches it and finds the right H&M size for you totally didn’t work Lol. I’m size 6/8 at old navy for high waisted medium stretch jeans and it told me a 12, so I order a 12 and a 10 in another style after seeing reviews that said size down in that one. The 10 was too small and the 12 too big lol🤷♀️
I don't think there is such a thing as true size [input size]. the sizes constantly change from one brand to another. So when you say I am a true size 16 you mean it fits your vision of what a size 16 is supposed to be. If only companies could use measurement rather than fitting everyone in size categories it would be nice. Like most men wear are labelled by their measurement (waits, length, neck, arm, lenght)
I love watching Carrie because we have almost the exact same body "type" and I feel like I NEVER see people with the same body type as me and it's so nice. I''m an aus size 6 (American 2 or 4 I think) and I STILL have a belly, always have probably always will, it's just my body type. I have the exact same struggle with jeans and my mid section. It's so nice seeing some representation for us fuller bellied gals. Thank you!!
Don’t feel bad about the Levi’s I’m pretty true plus size and even I can’t properly fit into any of their sizes. I just don’t think they make good jeans for people over a size 12/14. So it’s not really about being midsize because even their plus size jeans suck 😭
i'm a size 16 and it's funny how that is "plus size" when it's so average??? i was staring at you in this vid and your body is just incredibly beautiful. idk just funny how it's seen as uncommon when it's like the most common size.
Feel the same. Midsize crew👋 I am in the middle. So I usually go with the tight side cuz things normally stretch out. And avoid none stretch denim. Never will fit me.
i use to NEVER fit into anything from H&M but in the last 5 years or so ive gotten multiple pieces from them, and im like 3 sizes bigger than the last time tried them! i think they really took NOTES
I just bought a pair of levi's and I was so confused by their sizing too. I tried on some of their wedgie jeans and the 501's. For some of them the size 27 was way too small which is what I normally would wear but the 28's would sometimes be way too big. It's so frustrating because I love their jeans 😭
I tried on my usual size at Levis’s this week and almost cried in the dressing room. They wouldn’t go past my thighs. I would probably have to size up two sizes, which would put in plus sizes, which are made larger. So they don’t have a size to fit me either. Definitely a “‘midsize” issue.
I 100,000% agree that we need a much more size inclusive range on the larger end but as a VERY tiny (000) girl I want some inclusively on my end too! Love your content 💕
I would love to see you try the gap sky high rise jeans! I have hated every pair of jeans I've ever had, but these jeans are God tier. They have like a 12 inch rise
i bought 3 pairs of levis ALL in the same size. one fit perfect, one fit tighter, and one i couldnt even get the button to close. really hate their sizing
