Thank you so much for showing these beautiful shots and video of the redtail hawks. I am out with the nikkor 200-500, but I agree to you, croping from the 300 prime will be superior

Josef Gerl - thank YOU for letting me share. 🙏 I have to say that the old 300mm f2.8 is just so sharp no matter how much I crop in. I LOVE it. I, and my friend and brother James have both had great luck with the Tamron lenses - some have not. I still enjoy that lens and the versatility of the zoom over the prime. Even for portraits I prefer a zoom. At some point I will try the Nikon 200-500 but the one I bought a while back was missing the foot so I returned it and just never bought another. Thank you Josef Gerl! 💖🤗

John these shots are sensational. You've sold me on that Tamron lens. Great video my friend and well done on putting it all together. 🙏👍

Adrian!!! When the light is right, it is a great lens..... and the zoom is awesome. I have only had one problem and Tamron took care of it for me..... and the price is not too bad either. But this 300...... is an amazing beast. It is old, fast, snaps to focus instantly, clear, clean.... the only down side is the weight (all glass and metal), and no zoom. MOST of the birds were shot with 300 and cropped in. I stopped using it when I got the Tamron, but I am going back to the 300.... and hopefully and old 500mm prime as well - it should be on the way. You can see how far away the hawks were and the 300 nailed the focus. I got more good ones than bad ones. And back to the Tamron - I LIKE the zoom, but the light has to be just right. Thank you, thank you Adrian for letting me share. 🙏 This is how I am rehabbing..... just out walking with a 30lb camera lens combo in a harness...... LOL 💖😁

Excellent images, all of them John! Yes, that 300 2.8 is very sharp, but the Tamron is amazing too. I’ve been eyeing that lens for awhile now. Those hawks were so high up, aren’t they amazing!! I loved the cormorant, so clear on a 500% crop! Great to see you out, inspiring us again. We are expecting a couple of inches of snow Friday, so am excited about photographing some birds, and yes, more deer. 😎

Bill!!!! The more I use this 300mm lens, the more I am in love with it all over again. Yes, the Tamron is an awesome lens and I am sure I will go back to it sometime..... until my 500 F4 gets here.... LOL. I am a credit spending gear junkie. This 300 just nails focus and it is super fast for the focus. All glass and metal and you can FEEL it snap into place. And yes, I do watch all of my videos, casting to the 65" in the living room. If the photos are sharp there, then I am happy. Those hawks were HIGH and I could still print a poster of them flying - tack sharp! Thank you Bill. 🙏 I look forward to your snow pictures!!!! 😁💖

@@refuztosay9454 Hi Refuz Tosay!!!! I just released my video talking about the 500 F4 on both the D850 and my favorite D800. I am going to put it on the D780 and have fun with that for a while. As I have used all, there are things I really like about all of the 3 lenses - each has something special about it. I understand what you mean about cropping it too much. That was the biggest reason I stopped using the D500. I thank YOU 🙏 for letting me share with you!! 💖😁

Thank you NIkCan!!! 🙏 We are all on simi-lockdown and all supposed to be wearing masks. I take mine off to talk to the camera and make sure I am away from everyone other than my wife. I wish I could say that everyone on the trails wears a mask but we just stay away from them. Since I do have time, since I NEED to walk, and the added weight of the camera setup helps as well..... I am rehabbing doing something I LOVE. And, I get to share. Thank you NikCan for letting me! 💖😁

@@JonnyPink65 Great content deserves a wider audience. Have you tried to compare the current Nikon 300mm f2.8 lens against the Nikon 120-300mm f2.8 lens if that was possible?
@JonnyPink65
@JonnyPink65 3 года назад
@@NikCan66 I have not since I do not have that lens. A new one of those is WAY out of my price range for the F2.8 and the f/4.5 to f/40 version..... well, I would rather use the Tamron with the reach since I have it. I just bought a 500mm F4 (used of course as that is the only way I can afford it), and I hope it gets here soon. I will do a comparison of that lens to the Tamron as well, both shooting at 500mm. That is part of the reason i was shooting so much of these photos at and F4. Maybe someday I will have a wider audience but my channel is not as focused as others so that may play into it. Either way, I am happy I get to share what I do, so thank you NikCan!! 🙏💖😁
