This is an illustrative comparison of the theatrical ending and the VHS ending of "Back to the Future", where "To Be Continued..." was added to the home video release. Important correction, March 2024. I can confirm that the 2002 DVD of "Back to the Future" did not contain "To Be Continued..." Sorry for the confusion.

Important correction! I can confirm that the 2002 DVD of "Back to the Future" did *not* contain "To Be Continued..." Sorry for the confusion.

That’s because at the time, The sequel was in production, but it was delayed until 1989. Television prints just freeze frame.

I'm wondering how certain are you as to when they removed the "to be continued" and thus restored it to its original theatrical state. I was surprised to see all of my collection - 2002 DVD, 2010 25th Blu-ray, 2015 30th Blu-ray, 2020 35th Remastered Blu-ray and 2020 4K all did not have the "to be continued". Everytime I saw it on TV since childhood and my VHS recording had to be continued.

@@tvaziri I was just curious because a discussion came up on a reaction video I watched regarding the To Be Continued part. The older gentleman saw it in theaters so he remembers it without it and since I grew up watching it on TV I only remember it with the To Be Continued.
