Steve Blum was great as Starscream in Transformers Prime. he was both funny and diabolical, especially in the clipshow before the 2 part Season 2 finale.
I think Steve Blum's portrayal is the best by far - there's an oily, slithery quality to his tone that really fits his character as a backstabbing, conniving snake - but, at the same time, he can lapse into obsequy at the drop of a dime. If we're being honest, I think TFP Starscream might be my favorite version of the character period, both in design and portrayal.
1. Sam Rigel - a voice that's deceptive and menacing 2. Steve Blum - makes him sound more dangerous than Megatron 3. Tom Kenny - equally deceptious and very powerful 4. Chris Latta - when he has one of his fits, it's hilarious to watch with that voice 5. Michael Dobson - not very deceptious but you actually care for him
Joshua Rosengarten Imagine Megatron asking Starscream to open a Space Bridge portal. I think it would go a little bit like this, "Starscream, open a portal." "No." STARSCREAM!"
SyupendousStufful101 And the villian leader of the Visionaries"Knights of the magical light". I think his animal was a spider. Been a while so don't quote me.
1. Steve Blum and Chris Latta (tie) 2. Sam Rigel 3. Tom Kenny 4. Charlie Adler 5. Michael Dobson If Mark Hamill would do the voice, he'd be the new #1!
1. Steve Blum - Perfect, just perfect. His voice is exactly how I envision Starscream sounding. Sinister, calculating, calm, and dripping with manipulation. Perfect for a backstabbing sociopath like Starscream. 2 and 3. Tom Kenny/Michael Dobson - It bounces between these two for the 2nd and 3rd spot. They both have a high-pitched slimy aura to them, and they both give a great performance. Hard to choose which one I like more. 4. Charlie Adler - A pretty good attempt for Starscream. But I feel he sounds a little too high-pitched and demented. 5. Chris Latta - The classic and original. He will always be legendary, but his voice is kinda irritating nowadays. LOL
Daniel Ross voice is so underrated. It suits starscream as a different personality where he is a respectable second in command and fearsome at the same time. You don't need a slimy screech voice to be cunning at all times.
I don't think this video does him justice as it shows his voice from the playstation game which i always thought seemed like it'd been edited over to sound deeper which doesn't fit the character, the DS version of the game shows you daniel ross' real unedited voice and in my opinion that is the best starscream voice we've ever gotten, its suited to a starscream thats devious and scheming and intelligent and isnt a cowardly comical-relief character
I say Tom Kenny has the all-time best Starscream voice. It combines the greatest elements of both the Chris Latta and Steve Blum voices, reaching a perfect medium that reflects the character perfectly.
CatMaster90001 i think animated Starscream was just a really good Starscream overall. he was scheming and treacherous, and kept his role as the comic relief at certain times, while also being very powerful in an actual fight. the only character that beat him fair and square in the show was Megatron, if i remember correctly.
Steve Blum also voices Eliphas the Inheritor... So Starscream is now officially Starscream the Inheritor. I can see it now, "STARSCREAM, open a portal!" "No."
I've gotta say, Michael Dobson did such a great job playing Starscream in the Unicron Trilogy, but hearing Tom Kenny play Starscream I just hear an evil Spongebob which is amazing lol. Steve Blum is probably the best Starscream we got.
+Nate Martin It definitely is the gold standard of Transformers for me. Mature, intelligent, writing and great character depth and development? Hell friggin' yes.
+Fred Jones Except for the fanbase. The fanbase of TFP is terrible. They use terms like "YAS" and think that random equals funny, and that they are "quirky XD". As evidenced by the comment above me.
Not the game, the beginnings, prime. The last one i mean. In the first movie. His voice is so badass. Now? He sounds like an out of breath slave in his prison.
Chris Latta = The Originator/Classic, Steve Blum = The rebirth of slick, Made him wicked and cool at once, Michael Dobson = The fill in and the next best after the 80's classic!
I absolutely loved michaels starscream its tied at num 1 with foc starscream for me next is steve blum then tom Kenny then g1 I prefer the more raspy voices then last is movie verse I hated the way they did him in the movies hes my fav decepticon
1 Michael Dobson (The One I Grew Up With) 2 Chris Latta (Classic And Is Very Memorable) 3 Steve Blum (Very Good And Also Memorable) 4Charlie Adler (Good But Why Change The Voice) 5 Sam Rigel (Not Bad Even Though I Never Played The Games) 6 Tom Kenny (He's Not Bad Too But It's Just Tom Kenny) 7 Doug Parker (Sound To Munch Like Terrasausr) The Others Are Not Good or Could Have Done Better
+SUPERSPORTS Agreed. While I've enjoyed both of the "Comparing the Voices" of the StarScream characters' voices, there is relatively very little comparison: There are "some mighty fine clones" out there, namely that "Dr. Smooth" guy that made those infamous old school mid '80s cartoon parodies on RU-vid years ago. But yeah, the late/great Chris Latta was pretty much the definitive voice for him, such as Frank Welker was the only Sound Wave (ect).
3:15 starscreams voice in transformers 1 was such a great take, it was true to the classic voice while being deep and menacing. its too bad they didnt continue that voice processing in the other movies.
agreed, but while tf1 Starscream was awesome and badass, he wasn’t /Starscream/ enough. Starscream was always this scheming and slithery sort of character. although i really loved his voice in the first one, he sounded so robotic and unique.
Turdman12 Dobson takes number 1 largely because of Starscream's potrayal in Armada and Cybertron. Armada Starscream went through huge character growth, becoming the one Starscream that was truly loyal to Megatron, and never wanted to replace him. Cybertron Starscream was a more intelligent version of the character. Biding his time, until he knew he could prevail against Megatron and The Autobots.
I liked Chris Latta's voice acting for Starscream. He was was the original and the best, in my opinion. I also liked Tom Kenny's voice acting on Starscream. He didn't sound exactly like Chris, but I think he care close to it.
I really loved Starscream Arnada's voice..plus his overall character seemed more..polished I suppose..they gave him more of a fallen hero complex. He had the potential to be a good leader in the show too.
I just gotta say in my opinion Rigel managed to create the a great "in over his head, ready to lick boots, but still ready to betray his superiors" voice.
Sam Rigel's Voice Acting was the best for my opinion because it really sounds like him!! Menacing, Strong, deep and Deseiveing the best one yet besides Latta! But Ofcourse Latta was really the og! 2:49
Chris Latta, Tom Kenny, Charlie Adler, and Daniel Ross are my favorites because the movie introduced me to the Transformers and Starscream, I got the game right after watching the movie. Tom Kenny comes next as my first TV Starscream, and Chris is the original which I was always interested in, finally saw it some years later. Steve Blum sneaks his way in because he’s Steve Blum.

Tbh, in the 2010 animation transformers prime, all the voices were amazing. The fact that they got Optimus's real voice actor from the movies was even better. And I personally love Steve Blum voicing starscream
I have three favourites, but for different reasons. 1. Steve Blum's Starscream is, for one, easier on the ears. This is a personal preference, but I feel like I can enjoy a character if they don't grate on my nerves. He's also got that edge to him that makes you wonder if he got into the Decepticon cause and rose through the ranks by backstabbing and other various treacheries. That maybe he never intended to be loyal in the first place and saw the Decepticons as a way to gain power. His portrayal of Starscream also has a lot of depth to it that makes him feel like a rounded out character, but also has the range for the iconic dramatics. 2. Tom Kenny's Starscream puts the deception in Decepticon, but not for the same reason that Blum's does. This Starscream is after his own power, but is willing to be even slimier in his methods. He's also got an egotistical flair that I don't hear in the others (though most portrayals are egotistical in their own ways) that make his dramatics make more sense. It's also pretty similar to G1 Starscream while still being unique. 3. Chis Latta is what made Starscream who he is. He's loud, annoying, and both full of himself and stupid enough to declare himself the leader when Megatron so much as walks out of the room. He's kind of a comic relief and it's fun to hear Latta perform the dramatics and the hissy fits. I don't think G1 Starscream was meant to be taken very seriously, and I wouldn't have anyone else voice him.
I'm at a draw between Steve Blum's amazing voice (absolute ear candy) and Tom Kenny's voice. Tom did a great job embodying Starscream's smug and bitchy attitude XD
Hail and Farewell, Chris Latta. Your incredible voicework will ALWAYS be remembered for so many characters you did. As for me, STARSCREAM and COBRA COMMANDER will be the voices NO ONE ELSE But Chriss Latta could ever do justice.
Chris Latta will always be the voice of my childhood 😍 but Tom Kenny and Steve Blum both hit that horrifyingly beautiful con's coniving snarky attitude on the head quite nicely. Still, none did it so well as Latta.
Steve Blum. He’s the perfect Starscream: he’s got the competent edge while sound like a backstabbing, pathetic coward, as Starscream is supposed to be.
I was never born during the orginal but my sad did show them to me on RU-vid when I was super young (before the movie trailers and stuff came out) so I honestly like Chris latta the best, may he rest in peace.
