The Digi-Sel is not going to help with noise on the band like the VC tune does. The Digi-Sel is a half octave filter that is attenuating out of band signals that may be impacting the RMDR and DR-3. The VC tune is a sharply tuned in -band pre-selector. They are different features. The Digi-Sel works best in situations where you have a close by transmitter on a second but adjacent ham band (in your case someone transmitting on 17 m within a mile of your QTH) or a close-by AM Station radio transmitter. The comparison with VC tune is not an apples to apples comparison. The use of the receiver without NR in either case results in a lousy sounding signal. It would be helpful for you to optimize the NR, VC and IF filtering to create the best sounding audio on each rig to show how they truly compare.
Both are excellent radio's that would make anyone happy to have. I have the FTDX10, which I like a lot, but had I bought the 7300, would have been just as happy.
well David i have had my 7300 for some time now and my ftdx10 since last friday and in my opinion the 7300 just wins but not by much but its only my opinion mate enjoy the 10
@@ronknight3417 Oh yeah, that doesn't surprise me. My Elmer has a IC-7610 and the FTDX101-MP(200W), and very much prefers the ICOM. It all comes down to personal preference. Heck, I would be happy to have either as my primary rig :) Did you have a side by side shot of your 2 radios on QRZ? I looked at your youtube channel and QRZ, but didn't find it there.
I thought my 7300 was good too until I got the ft-891 for portable use then I realised how bad the audio and noise was on the 7300 I'd be none the wiser if I had not got the 891really great performing radio with excellent audio via headphones I always listen with headphones. Have ftdx-10 on order should have it in a week the 7300 is sold.
@@o00scorpion00o The ftdx10 is a good radio. I like the ergonomics and performance. Keep in mind, you will not have automatic waterfall leveling like on the Icom. What I do is to assign LEVEL to my Inner ring, and adjust it when "C.S" is pushed. Otherwise the inner right will increment the frequency by 100hz steps. I kinda think of the FTDX10/101 as the Android of cell phones and Icom more like Apple, but interested to see if you agree.
I bought an MP, but I found that to move the radio required two people. It was too big for me to move alone. A magnificent rig, no question. But I'm hoping to get a 7610 that I can move without calling up someone to pay to help me move it if necessary. Yes, I spent the money! Them's the breaks! But I'm keeping, NOT selling my MP, lol!
hard to make a choise...display on icom 7610 looks much more serios and pleasant comparing with the other radio. yaesu ft dx 101mp not so noisy on the waterfall as icom 7610 ( i see both radio has preamplifier 1 ON)
Never run my DNR past 4 or 5, just don't need to be higher under most any condition. In the age of RFI Interference and wally-world selling over 1000 devices that exceed RFI limitation guidelines as reported by the ARRL... these high-end radios sure help with improved reception in the current messy World of excess RFI. Not to mention Power Companies neglecting their hardware while pro-rating the upkeep fees into our billing and spending it else ware.
Yaesu has an amazing receiver that you don't want to turn off. Icom has a hard digital noise, from which the brain begins to flow out of the ears and you want to take off the headphones and relax in silence. Nothing else matters.
I absolutely had that same issue with the 7610! It hurt my ears especially when you had to start bringing in filtering. I ended up moving to an FTDX5000.
Love a review by someone who doesn't understand the features of each radio and what they do. Also not using the same speaker. This video was worthless as a comparison
