Comparison: John Deere's Z535M & Z540R Zero Turn Mowers

The rubber floor mats of the 540r help absorb some of the vibration and make it more comfortable for your feet and legs. The larger wheels of the 540r also make for a much nicer ride in rough ground. Those are the key reasons I went with the 540r over the 535m and even the z3xx series.

I see on the newer model lineup for the 500 series they did away with the handle lift lever for the mower deck. We have a 540r and because I use the foot pedal a lot, the handle moves up and down as well. This causes the rod the handle to have a groove worn in it, I can see it eventually wearing completely through and breaking off. The transport lock is at the top of the bracket that rubs on the rod causing the groove in it. On the newer models, they have a yellow handle there to release the deck to lower it. I can see why it was redesigned.

You need to do a new video now the Z500 ztrack has been redesigned! this video is good though.

What is the life expectancy of the John Deere Z535M if properly taken care of and maintained?

I’ve been looking for this video for some time now, thanks. But if you could pass some info to the John Deere engineers it would be helpful. I love both of these mowers & it’s a toss up on which to get. The sight fuel gauge sucks, I know you don’t recommend this but I’m a paraplegic & confined to a wheelchair want to get back to mowing my own yard. If it had a needle fuel gauge on the panel where the throttle control is that would be so helpful. But either way I’ll be making a purchase here soon but maybe they can help someone down the road. Thanks.

Would you say the 535 is reliable

So confusing. So many R’s and M’s. I need a 60+ “ for an uneven pasture. I’ll be having 3 acres to cut. And I need to get it done fast. I’ll need it mulched. I live in WA. Where should I go to try them out

Only thing I don't like about my 535 is the fuel sight have to get off the mower to see it 95% of the time
