Note to self: Practice performing back-flips into cover. I recently picked up 3 of the Talons.....can't wait to try them out in my Prophecy (once I have time to assemble it). Great job on comparing the 2.
Awesome to hear the Talons work well. I was considering getting a set of Katanas for my Caliburn, but the Talon's price and actual availability sealed the deal. Thanks for the quick, straight to the point review.
Glad you liked the review, I try to keep them brief and to the point. Did you get the new magwell for Caliburn which takes Talon or do you plan to just use Worker's adapter?
I found the Talon adaptor very tight in thr Caliburn magwell, and took some pying to get out. It fitted perfectly in a Longshot and an Xzues. So i may go with Slugs magwell that accepts both.
Sad that i received my katanas a month before the announcement of talons, otherwise i would've bought talons hands down. Cost, build, and the fact that your product arrives quickly rather than waiting months or even years is a far better selling point
Good video. It is nice to see a full comparison of these mags. I now have 5 of each, so I haven't fully bought into either ecosystem. However, I'm hoping to catch some people selling out their Katanas to pick some up cheap.
I haven't ran either in a game, but I lean a bit towards Katana. Mostly because of 3D printed options like the Vorpals that give flexibility on capacity. Although I'm sure that there will probably be Talon knockoffs soon enough.
You say that Katana mags are not compatible with Worker breaches without a specialty designed after-market forward adapter. I have this problem. What is this forward adapter and how does one procure it? Thank you for another excellent review.
There are other alternatives that are a lot Cheaper then Katana Mags but still work with Katana Mag Wells as well. This includes 3D print Magazines (I'm saying this because of the designs for two of Mr. Heath Pant's Designs that use the Katana Mags and the worker mags done work with his mag wells.
Only downside of Talons is that they can't be used in things like the Pigeon or other homemade blasters. Have you given any thought to obtaining a few 3d printed Katana-compatible mags, like Vorpals? They seem to have some of the advantages of Talons, while still being backwards compatible.
I think u forgot to mention one advantage katana has over talon, and that it has the dry fire prevention unlike talon. I still think talon is worth more for the price though :D
True, Katana does have that if you remove the tabs. I wonder how long it will be before someone 3D prints a new follower for Talons with that functionality.
