CJ Roche singing Compass of Your Heart by Alan Menken with the 2016 cast of Disney On Classic and The Orchestra Japan. I do not own the rights to this music.
I didn't understand what was so special about this ride, until I rode it for the first time myself in 2018. I instantly fell in love with it (and Chandu! So cute! 😍). Compass Of Your Heart is now my favorite Disney Parks song, and I've been a lifelong fan...so that isn't an easy choice for me! I hope all the Japanese Disney Parks fans know what a treasure they have - truly one of the best of all time.
as a multifaceted filmmaker myself, this is one of my passion projects for Disney animation studios now that they accept hand drawn animated projects, essentially based on the ride and featuring alan menken music, how do you react on that intention?
First time for me in Tokyo Disney Sea, and I also fell in love with this ride. What a beautiful song, I also appreciate the craftsmanship and love that went into the Puppets and how long the ride is ❤
Villagers: Lift your sails to the heavens and fly on the breeze! Steer straight towards the horizon and seek brand new seas! Life's awaiting you out there, and if you sail true, You may find a priceless treasure out there too! Sindbad: Tides may turn you and toss you and storms may arise! Harm may stand in the path where your destiny lies! Just reach out for a friend when you're lost and astray Let the compass of your heart show you the way! As the winds of your fortune propel you along Always steer to the right, or you'll drift to the wrong Help all those who need helping, no matter their size For the compass of your heart leads to your prize! Life is the greatest adventure! There is no map, there's no chart But if you seek life's great treasure, follow the compass of your heart! More than gems... more than gold... one good deed's worth more than wealth untold... (singing with the Giant who sings along with Sindbad after rescuing him) Life is the greatest adventure! There is no map, there's no chart! But if you seek life's great treasure, follow the compass of your heart! (singing with the Sultan of India who repeats Sindbad's lines) More than silks... more than spice... kindness is a gift beyond all price... Come the end of your journey at last you will know That great treasure you hunted, you found long ago! It's not diamonds or rubies, or silver or jade No, the treasure is the lifelong friend's you've made! Life is the greatest adventure! There is no map, there's no chart! But if you seek life's great treasure, follow the compass of your heart! Villagers: When you arrive home safe and sound, look at the friendships you have found... Richer by far than at the start, follow the compass of your heart!
My older brother sang the song a lot but I couldn't really get with it. It was t until I visited Japan now that I understand why this is a masterpiece. I will never forget that disney ride until the day I die. Truly a magical place belonging to Disney respectfully!
Siena H and I have a goal into making a Disney hand drawn animated film based essentially on the ride with this musical theme, I am honestly preparing a special experimental animatic to then show it to Disney
GOD BLESS YOU ALL for singing this touching remarkable song on english for all the no-japanese listeners. The Japanese version is fantastic, but being able to understand this lovely lyrics is wondeful. I wish more profesional singers would do a cover of this captivating extraodinarie song 😊
I heard a snippet of the English version in Patrickzfilm's tdr vlogs and I had to hear more! This is such a wonderful song and probably one of Alan Menken's best and I love his writing style. Stupidly enough, it even made me a little misty eyed.
As I heard this song upon boarding the Sinbad ride in Disneysea Tokyo, I instantly fell in love with it - super beautiful song w meaningful lyrics, amazing ride, awesome Japan Disney experience n great Jap travelling moments - all reminisced well:)
If there is ever a pavilion in the World Showcase for a West Asian country, or specifically Iraq, then Disney needs to put a version of the Tokyo DisneySea ride into it with this song.
I am learning speaking English. This song touched me so much! But due to my limited English, I can't entirely hear what you sang. Can I have the full text of the lyric? It will be great to learn English from a song that I like!
Thanks Raymond, I'm glad you liked it! Here's the full English text of the song: Lift your sails to the heavens and fly on the breeze! Steer straight toward the horizon-- and seek brand new seas! Life's awaiting you out there, and if you sail true, you may find a priceless treasure waiting too! Tides may turn you and toss you and storms may arise! Harm may stand in the path where your destiny lies! Just reach out for a friend when you’re lost and astray-- Let the compass of your heart show you the way! As the winds of your fortune propel you along, always steer to the right, or you'll drift to the wrong. Help all those who need helping, no matter their size, for the compass of your heart leads to your prize! Life is the greatest adventure! There is no map, there's no chart! But if you seek life's great treasure, follow the compass of your heart! More then gems, More then gold, one good deed's worth more than wealth untold... Life is the greatest adventure! There also seems to be backup vocals during the last verse, as on the ride the song comes from. From what I can hear, it goes: "When you arrive home safe and sound, look at the friendships you have found." "???, follow the compass of your heart." I have no idea what they said on the third part, though.
It sounds like they are saying "Each turn and flight and at the start", which the last part fits with the last verse, but I dunno about the "each turn and flight" part.
Joseph Parodi Tried looking it up a while ago when I watched all of this,I can only get the lyrics that are musically sang but can't find any of Sinbad's speaking dialogue in between songs.
