A BROAD VIEW OF COMPASSES, DIVIDERS, AND CALIPERS, LAYOUT TOOLS, CHESTER SPIER, AVID USER AND COLLECTOR DISCUSSED THE DIFFERENCE AND USES OF THESE PARTICULAR TOOLS.
Now I know what the heck an inker is! I have one in my random "bits and pieces" drawer missing the adjustment screw. Thanks heaps Chester. $0.02 from Tasmania.
Thank you Chester, for the time and passion you invest into sharing your working tool collection. I‘ve two treasured single piece forged spring calibers. I tried to find dates when they were made, but with no success. With the wing nuts and design, they look considerably older. One is a Bleckmann, which I’m guessing you will be familiar with the maker, the other has no maker’s mark. If one of yours was your grandfather’s, but may not have been purchased new - any idea of a date range?
I’ve been trying find out some more info on this. These were known to be made in Germany and I am familiar with Beckmann but haven’t been able to pin down dates. My grandfather’s would have been purchased around 1920.
