£2K is a complete joke. JLR just flush their poor engineering and reliability issues through their customer base. Still do not understand why there is a not a European wide class action taken against them. Their vehicles simply are not fit for purpose, particularly at this price point. That 2.0 litre Ingenium engine has a lifespan of about 30k miles. They are leaving thousands of customers high and dry, vehicles worthless in the market, toxic with dealers and no mechanic wants to touch them. Shameful.

I’m stunned… you basically paid 2 years for warranty at £1200 / year whilst car was being fixed ‘under warranty’…

There must’ve been exhaust fumes leaking into that Discovery too😬. After all they put you through, all they offered was £2000 compensation, and you agreed to them taking the cost of a service and the mot out of this? 🤔😂

Interesting, my RRS has been in Marshalls JLR Newbury for 2 months and when I got it back, frustratingly there is 8 dints and a small dent in the door! I’ve reported it together with proof that when it was recovered, no damage existed, and fully expect them to put it right at no cost to me. Will keep you posted.

Interesting you say this, I am also a Marshalls JLR Newbury customer whose had issues with them as a dealership. I have a new shape full size Range Rover, the rear clear 'tail light' which the 'RANGE ROVER' lettering now sits on cracked which is apparently a known fault. I waited 6 months since I initially notified them of this issue, was pushed from pillar to post chasing them to fix it under warranty. Turned out after speaking to the technician the part was ordered & had arrived in two months- they failed to notify or acknowledge the fact they had the part despite my numerous calls so it sat on a shelf for 4 months.

@@Odidafumbii Marshall Assist recovered mine on 25.03.24, but I had to wait until 10.04.24 to be told I needed a new battery which is not covered by the warranty. I heard nothing so chased up only to be told that they’d found a drain on my alternator! I finally got my car back on the Friday before the last bank holiday because I insisted that they repair my leaking rear diff because it was losing significant oil on my driveway! It had not been cleaned, despite sat outdoors for 2 months, but I was just glad to get it back. I actually bought another car because they told me that the wait would be even longer if I wanted a replacement vehicle! Imagine my shock when washing it that the front passenger door had been clouted 9 times, one worst than all the others that has left a vertical crease about an inch long! I immediately emailed my frustration, but despite assurances, heard nothing until I dropped another email on the business manager copying in Marshall’s CEO. It’s a disappointed that you buy a vehicle, pay for the dealer options, extra warranty and service plan, but despite the blurb, you’re left feeling nobody really cares about the customer experience. The general manager has made an appointment to personally check the damage to my vehicle but I’m not convinced that they’re going to accept responsibility and I shall be faced with putting up a fight! Mine has been off the road for about 4 weeks max in last year. I got a free service and an extra years JLR warranty when mine expires next month. Pretty happy with that to be honest .

Nice one! Your raptor will cost you more, the Ford ranger I’ve had has been plagued with issues. More than my 2008 defender 😂

I had the same issue with an Audi dealer a few years ago. They offered me £2k because an early build car was missing some standard options. I accepted and they just didn't pay up for weeks and weeks. I sent the general manager a letter saying it was due in 7 days or I'd apply interest for each day afterwards. Did the trick and they transferred the money a few days later.

JLR are shockingly bad, why people keep buying their vehicles is beyond me. You would get better service and a more reliable car from KIA or Skoda and that’s a disservice to those company’s.

JLR they need to step up. Just look at the Tata news, building Range rover’s now in India, if that isn’t a big no, no, nothing is!.

Mine is back in garage for a warranty simple job. First appointment cancelled, then last Friday after having it for the day, I was told it would need to stay overnight, then over weekend, now overnight again. As you said I have been having to ring up to be told we might get to do it.. and then I said if you couldnt do the job why did you take the car.

I really can't understand Land Rover. They make (when they work) excellent cars. But for decades now the reliability has been far below the standard of every other car manufacturer. I did think in the 2000s things were looking up, but that was, it seems a false dawn. I get that they are complicated things, but even comparing like for like with other makers' complicated vehicles, Land Rover fare abysmally. It must be eating into their profits both in lost sales and rectifying faults/failures and eventually the viability of the company you'd think. Why, oh why hasn't someone got a grip of this? They need to over-engineer things now to save their reputation.

You should have looked around and not bought the first car you saw I would of walked away from it and go for a different one I would go for a new discovery and I would go for the petrol engine and injoy your new venture with ford ranger raptor just like the ford ecoboost they all had the engine replaced and that's my dream truck I would buy off of you lol if I can pass my test and if I can insured on the particular truck I found the exact same colour model of that same truck you have got

Sorry, I very much doubt that simple motoring exists anymore most cars are just too complex. Yes some JLR products are quite bad but as far as I am concerned my experience tells me most car break end of story. To be fair the only really new car I have had was a Volvo XC70 it cost me £500 in repairs over 4.5 years but depreciation was £14.5K and it had dropped £17K from new when I bought it at 18 months. One way or another you pay for a modern car.

JLR, build them as cheaply as possible, then sell them as ridiculously expensively as possible, then sell owners warranty at another ridiculously expensively price as possible, because JLR know they will break down sooner rather then later after the sale. So it's a Winner Winner Truffle & Champagne Dinner for the JLR CEO.

I’m sorry but a Ford raptor is no comparison to something like a Range Rover.or decent Land Rover I’m lucky enough not to own a new one so I’ve no warranty and do all my own work. I’ve had land rovers for 5 years and now run an old disco 3 and a Range Rover Westie. These cars are like nothing else I’ve owned. Don’t think I’ll ever be without one

Hi I nearly ordered a new Defender only because I couldn't get an answer from Toyota on there new Land cruiser 250 2024 , i,m so glad i waited JLR stories just keep coming and the reliability issues never stop, great videos Dave
