I'm with spoon. That was some of the best driving I've seen Jimmy do. Maybe he should turn one of his S Chassis into a pro spec level car. He might just surprise us all.

The support you receive from your friends and family speak volumes of your character. You’ve stayed the same over the past 6 years. You’ve been able to share your successes and experiences with your crew. It’s been that way since helping your friend to build their car in a cramped shop to taking your friends to Ireland. I’m a lot like that too and knew all your hard work would pay off.
It’s literally the coolest thing to watch all these years. And ever since that long Japan trip and non stop driving, his confidence is so much better and there’s no more overthinking and being in his own head 👌
Right? I watched the how to on shaving the Z32 engine bay video from 5 years ago yesterday because I want to do a very similar thing to my Z31..(ahem kswap). Sometimes you don’t really see people grow as a person when you are watching videos as frequent as possible. Like a boiled frog lol. But if you ever go back to watch them you can really see and appreciate how much Jimmy and the team have grown over the years. Especially happy that he and Steph have been together through it all. Such an awesome group of people.

Dude was rippin in that car. The recent practice and shift in mindset(taking it more serriously) really paying off along with all the RHD practice. Great to see you comfortable in a borrowed car for once too. So glad you have the guys with you too.. Epic weekend made so much better no doubt. As much as it would have been awesome to see you in the top 16 (or qualify top 13) I think the Saturday was the more fun day and that field was STACKED for the Sunday. And I bet no-one ever leaves you at the line like that again like Kearney did. For anyone not aware on that silver v6 mid engined Clio(probably U.S.).. It's stock 😅

Best Oakes video I have watched; period. I watched the live feed; jimmy’s driving was noticeably better than ever. The car just didn’t have what you needed in the rain. Above all, the appreciation and love from the crew at the end of the video was epic. You all killed it

Damn that was supposed to be his big comp build but he supposedly cant drive it right or whatever but why build another comp car when he should be learning how to drive that one right instead of building more drift cars !
Jimmy and team, I think it’s time to lock in and focus on making a car for events like these. That way you’re already comfortable driving it and you don’t have to learn the car as you go. You have a lot of options, your garage is full of amicable cars. I only say this because it sucks when I see you drive your ass off but you fall short because of the capabilities of the car you’re driving.
True, he also seems to be worried about handling higher speed drifts, which is why he's always a gear low. They told him just leave it in fourth and it's fine, they built it, they tuned it, they know the cars potential. However Jimmy even said it himself in this video "maybe it's the insane wheelspin" which is due to him being in a lower gear than the car is built for optimally, meaning he wouldn't push himself out of his comfort zone. I've noticed this years ago... It's the only thing really holding him back I think. Another example is when tried to change the Ackerman... It completely changed the car because its not being driven how it's built to be, not an car error yet again jimmy blames ANOTHER car and not his own. He's not bad and I'm not better lmao I just feel like it's such an obvious and reasonable thing to be worried about, sending turns at angles in 4th gear speeds, but I think that's what it really comes down to.
If he was less on and off the throttle and had more precise control while in fourth, wheel speed can be controlled and the longer gear ratio wouldn't bog down because the engine is still getting fuel, just not as much, so naturally the wheel speed decreases, the lower the wheel speed/spin, the more grip you get.

It was fantastic to see you all in person, such diecent people, at the meet and greet I came in like a drowned rat it rained so hard and Steve offered us an umbrella, all of you guys were so nice to us even though you were probably all exhausted, moma oaks was so prowd she was infront of us in the grand stand and when jimmy came by at one battle she looked around her and said, "that's my boy" it was so good to see you all, thanks for the fantastic experience.
