Very cool video! Looking for some car themed events to do with my wife and have always thought about a road rally but reading about them seems a total mystery, your video gives a good idea of what is involved. Thanks!
Thank you!! It was a really fun time! Glad that the video helped give some insight. We've done a few more since then and our friend did a couple with his girlfriend and had a great time! Definitely recommend trying it out
@@3PedalDevils thanks for the reply. Love rally, scramble and sidecar racing. You guys are doing awesome. Keep having fun and maybe we see you in Paris-Dakar soon ! Best wishes from Kentucky
Those all sound awesome! So many incredible motorsports out there. Rally is a ton of fun. Hoping to do more road rallies and eventually get into some stage rally too. Thank you for the kind comment, it's nice to hear!
I'm thinking about doing one of these in my Veloster N this summer - I usually do autocross and track driving, but this looks like it would be a lot of fun.
That's Awesome! We need to get into some autocross and track days. These time speed distance road rallies are super fun and can be a chill way to cruise some beautiful roads! Goodluck with that Veloster!
What were you using to know that you hit the check points and how did it give you instant time variations? Is that an app you download on your phone? If so do you know what app that is? Thanks.
The event organizers input the coordinates of each checkpoint, then all of the competitors used the app called "competitor - Richta" and as we drove through the coordinates, the app would play a little chime letting us know we hit it and displayed our time variations in the log in the app right on the screen.
I'm glad I found this because it's quite concise in explaining in what a road rally is like and your experience running it! My only real constructive comment is that maybe you could heel-toe downshift. That's something I learned to do when I had my 2004 Civic LX. It can actually be tricky to do it at low(er) speeds while maintaining break pressure, but once you get it right, it's satisfying and would definitely add to doing the rally (doing heel-toe while in urban traffic is actually very beneficial when driving a stick since you pretty much eliminate so much dead time if you need to accelerate again--surely useful while trying to maintain a high minimum speed around corners haha). Who knew driving at "regular" speeds can be so much fun especially when you are in the constraints of time-speed-distance?
Thanks for the comment! We ran another road rally after this one and switched positions and we ended up taking first place that time! Yeah I've never taken the time to learn how to heel-toe, but I might have to give it a shot at some point! Thanks for the tip! I know, I didn't expect it to be such a fun time going 35-45mph! We'll definitely be doing more road rally videos in the spring/summer :)
@@3PedalDevils oh shoot thats a lot cheaper than I anticipated, but the event also looks a lot smaller than what I've done but still looks fun. When you get a chance you should check out our videos on the river valley road rally. I think you would really enjoy it!
I'm taking my 911 on the West Village Road Rallye in Chattanooga next month and have no idea what I'm doing lol. I'm hoping this vid or others can help.
That sounds awesome! Sorry that this video probably wasn't much help. I guess it wasn't really intended to be a tutorial on how to do a Road Rally. It's not too bad and they usually send out some info on how it works, and if not you could reach out to the organization hosting the event and ask for a quick beginners guide. Hope that helps and goodluck!!!
