Canada having a competition bureau comes as a shock to me given how oligopoly controlled many of our industries are and the detrimental effect its had on Canada. What rock has this bureau been hiding under? Have they heard of Bell and Rogers? Do they have an enforcement arm other than asking a company to do the right thing?

The Competition Bureau and the CTRC do nothing to stop telecom companies from charging outrageous prices for their poor service. At the next federal election, ask the candidates if they are going to do anything about it. They appoint former telecom employees and expect what? Help for consumers? NOPE!

Don't look into Canadian banks, insurance, cell phones, internet plans, dairy, for a lack of competition with some of the highest consumer prices in the world.

This is a nothing burger, the political class need a win against the grocery industry and this is the best they got. This case will lead to nothing but some fines and have no impact on grocery competition or prices.

A part of.. not a lot.. there are many factors that come into play carbon tax being one of them.. take the carbon tax away and you will notice a negligible decrease if any at all. Greed and profits above all else and lack of competition have most to do with this. I cant wait until Pierre Pollievre is in office to do away with these monopolies.. oh hold on what’s that? Oh the conservatives are in their pockets as well. The new boss is the same as the old boss.. who are we going to blame for all of the world’s issues when Trudeau is gone??

@@Ketowski They have real estate divisions. Besides, it’s not like this is something new. 2 companies make a contract together..it happens every day. Not sure why the government makes grocers seem like villains all of a sudden and also say they would like to attract competition. Who would want to enter a market with all the government intervention..

I stopped going to Sobeys after years because of the ridiculous pricing. I also stopped going to Walmart 6 years ago due to self checkouts. I find everything I need at Costco.
