This kind of enthusiasm for making a stalemate from a losing position is exactly why Rosen has become so good at obtaining draws. I may be biased, but I've heard a lot of GMs mention Eric as being one of the best at stalemate tactics and it's precisely because he's a motivated student.

I went up 100 rating points the moment I stopped resigning. Way more people than you'd think at my level (~1500) who I would have resigned to previously either blunder enough material later to make it winning or even, or they botch the endgame. I wish someone had told me way sooner

@saty Ro Depends on your goals tbh. If you just want to relax and enjoy a few games of Chess, sure resign away. But if you want to improve your game & climb the ratings faster, you gotta do shit that's unenjoyable.

This should definitely be the name of the manoeuvre! When your king and queen are in the corner in a lost position, and the opponent takes the queen expecting a recapture while they premove something else. Similar to how the “Lefong” is when you play Bh6 while someone is premoving their fianchetto sequence, so you take the bishop and the rook for free

That's risky, though. Even if they premove g6, you can't rely on them premoving their next move. They might see wBh6.

Before entering Kero Sewers, Mallow advises that "his grandfather" told him to "watch out for Rosen", although Mallow does not appear to know what Rosen is beyond his name. After exploring the sewers, Mallow enter a large, mostly empty room with Rosen standing in the center. Mallow panics upon realizing the monster before them is Rosen, who then attacks them. After battling and defeating him, he tells the heroes the cryptic message: "If you defeat me, you still won't beat me. Beware the draw!" and stalemates his opponent.

eric! my friend who used to really love horde because he was so good at it challenged me a while back. when i was horde, i had a pawn on first rank and fourth, and he had 2 rooks, a knight and a queen, and a couple pawns close to promotion. he premoved taking the pawn on the fourth rank, and i knew he would, so i pushed my pawn forward two squares to the 3rd rank, right behind it, and it was STALEMATE! from that day, my friend hasn't played a single game of horde

At 4:56 - You must play a waiting move with king before you queen or you can promote pawn to knight and win with 3.5 seconds on the clock with bishop+knight ending
