In the Nikajo, Shite breaks uke's balance, controlling his wrist joint by bending his arm (wrist, elbow, and shoulder) in a sideways V (or a ku in the Japanese Hiragana alphabet) and taking him face down.
Aikido is one of the martial arts developed in Japan and was founded by Morihei Ueshiba. it is said that it has roots of Daito Ryu and other Jujitsu practiced by Samurai as self defense techniques.
