Guess we now know why they moved so quickly to throw up some free housing in Gilbert for cancer patients! I wonder how good the trusses look in a free build. We’ve all seen how they look in their million dollar builds.
@@speediepitstop1531inspectors take pictures and videos during the process to highlight issues. Also, he was hired to conduct business on the property.
Nobody has a problem with that kind of finding. When you find a legit defect, then show 3000 pieces of blue tape and imply that the severity of the first item is indicative of the other blue tape spots is unprofessional, and done solely for RU-vid fame.
@@kcbbqguy9730 What? LOL... WTF? So anyone who thinks that this guy is shady is a simp for a company? Get a life. Anyone who's ever inspected or built anything can see very obviously what he's doing... Eventually he will get sued and lose... There ARE RULES to being an inspector, and when you get your license .. "STICK TO THE SOP's" IF you're doing things that recognized authorities don't say to do... You CAN get sued..
They’ve been doing it for decades! Just go to any cookie cutter neighborhood built in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. They mostly have plumbing, roofing, insulation, and foundation problems. The home we bought in 2020 was built in 2000 and can tell it was poorly built just like other homes in the area.
When I bought a new construction home 15 years ago, I hired an independent inspector. He found dozens of issues that needed to be addressed, some relatively small but many major. Man the construction company was pissed, but he quoted code and they had to resolve them. A couple of hundred dollars well spent.
All of the builders are employing illegal immigrants with zero experience and third grade education because they'll work sun up to sun down for 150 bucks. They're crapping on the American work force and they're trying to stop free speech. Anyone stepping foot on my construction sites better have American identification and atleast have a GED. Homes should take time to be built right and every step should be well thought out. They should last a minimum of 100 years, so why are these companies farting them out in a month or two?
It's been going on since home builders were a thing. I had a house built in 1964 by a home builder that was just complete and utter crap. It wasn't age, the materials used and build quality were absolutely terrible for even then.
100%. Instead of engaging in corporate bullying, how about Taylor Morrison focus on improving home quality & satisfying existing customers. Them trying to silence Cy is THE reason I would never consider purchasing one of their homes.
Taylor Morrison won't have a representative talk publicly about their short comings. They're the number one employer of illegal immigrants that can't even read on a third grade level.
and don't have this attitude of like "we're not perfect" because they're definitely charging like they're perfect. they aren't giving buyers discounts after shoddy work is found, so yes, they SHOULD be exposed and held accountable.
@elranchodepollo YES, It goes that way. And WTH does "Constitutional Rights" have to do with it. YOU ALREADY SAID IT'S THE ATTORNEYS 😂🤣😂 Whatever dude. Sure Big against Small is a thing. So Is Video. And I would assume, the other lawsuits already Against that builder. That ain't good. They are a fairly big company, but not Indestructible, like Exxon 😂 And the court of Video Opinions is something those people don't understand. ... plus, their work is 💩, and on video,.. oh man, and that's the Worst Icing on a Cake i can think of 😂
@elranchodepollo And It's Easy !!! He's an Inspector. He videos what he Does. He finds and shows the things he's supposed to look for, and find, As An Inspector. Then,.. SIMPLY INCLUDE THE BILLIONS OF OTHER RU-vid VIDEOS DOING THE SAME, IN EVERY BUSINESS YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE... and let a jury decide. ... and the new RU-vid money is a thing, so cys fine
Taylor Morrison didn't install the gas meter, southwest gas did it. Southwest gas is very strict about who touches they're systems. Ive seen crooked pool builders remove the meters to gain access to the backyards with bigger machines.
The builder's complaint against a home inspector just EXPOSED them as a company that would rather things got swept under the rug and not get exposed. Shhhhhhhh! Nothing to see here.
Whoever advised TM to take this route doesn't understand the passion folks have in having a habitable home to live in. Goliath going after David is not a good look, TM. Hopefully the Board is not in your pocket because the consumer, the homebuyers lose. Never Goliath in TMs world. Hope the big filthy rich corporate behemoth loses. Maybe a class action against the shoddy builds is needed instead.
There are already multiple class actions against builders like this across the nation. Depending on the issues, and state limits, individual lawsuits in small claims courts are a better, faster option. Much of the time they won't even show up, so you get a default judgement for the state maximum. In AZ the limit is only 3500 bucks, but in other states it is as high as 25,000 dollars.
@@My-Pal-Hal Maybe so, but many of the toilets I've seen on these are basic, 300 dollar toilets. Can also buy replacement counter tops, etc. You don't end up with much in class actions, having to give 1/3rd to lawyers, then splitting the rest with everyone else. (And the comment wasn't meant for just AZ, in other states you can get 15,000-20,000 in small claims) Also normal lawsuits can take years, people might need the money sooner, so something is better than nothing.
@@rdizzy1 Most of those homes are a Million PLUS. And if the replacements were cheap. And the builder has faith in what you are saying. He Wouldn't Be Sueing !!! But I haven't seen 1, of Cy's Shorts, that doesn't have a dozen F Ups in it. And if it's so easy to fix,.. why not do it Right in the first place. Of course. When you see one of his uploads, you see more in your recommendations for other. And none of them can do the simplest of builds it appears. And they obviously have nobody checking their work, or helping them do it. I wouldn't trust any of them to build a Gingerbread Bird House 😂 And since Cy is in Arizona. Only seems fitting to go with your $3,500 quote. Because I don't think he's going out of state for a Small Claim 😏 Anyway, bottom line. If you are a Builder, learn how to Build 💩. That's not a lot to ask. And funny, I was just thinking of one video I saw, and don't think it was Cy's. But I was surprised that the framing and Foundation of one home I saw, could handle the weight of the NAILS !!! Oh my God. It must have had a million dollars of nails in every freakin Joint 🤣 ... id be embarrassed, and would leave the state just so nobody could see my face
@@My-Pal-Hal Yeah ,but they don't care, and if you take them to normal court, they will spend a million dollars in lawyer fees to not lose 200,000. That is what they do. In many cases, it ends up coming down to getting something, and something within months, vs waiting years, and getting zero. (In many cases, people not only get ZERO, but they pay tens of thousands in lawyer fees on top of that, so now they are out 50,000 in lawyer fees, house is not fixed, and they got nothing)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with what he is saying HE IS TELLING THE TRUTH ! These crooks need to be held accountable for their shoddy craftsmanship!
Being the largest home builder in the nation, does not say they are the best. When you grow that big, you don't know what is going on below you. Loose some of the bloat so you can see your feet when you look down. Cy isn't the only home inspector doing these. There are several around the nation and 95% of them are showing all the screw up's that these builders are doing.
They operate like any large corporation, the people at the top get all the money. And those at the bottom work for pennies, and as a result they have a strangle hold on the industry.
There are builders that have said the home warrantee is voided if he inspects their homes, or if he goes in crawl spaces or the roof etc. I'm sure their complaint comes from a place of concern for the homeowner... Cy does a great job, he's just the kind of guy you would want doing an inspection, he will however cost the builder time and money fixing stuff they do wrong.
Nah, their complaint comes from the fact that they know nobody can build a perfect home, and they don't want to be forced to fix things for free. The number of deadlines homeowners are given to report certain issues or the builder is no longer responsible is all rhe evidence you need. They are having to come back and fix all their mistakes now, because it's public knowledge that they are required to fix these things within a certain time. Cy is costing them money because they are having more and more homeowners making them come back to fix things before the time limit is up on those things. 2 years ago, the builder would just not tell you that they are legally responsible for fixing something within the first year, hoping the owner simply wouldn't notice it until after a year at which point, the builder is no longer responsible. But now, Cy comes along and will hand you the state law that says the builder has to come fix it and will work with you to threaten legal responses to builders who do not fix these issues.
@@seanperson2032 "Build A Perfect Home" 😂 Oh God, that's funny. Any excuse will do, for not doing your job. You should go watch some of Cy's videos and shorts. And get back to me 🤣 👍 Jus sayin... ... glad i never used that lame excuse building 747's

I stand with the inspector and not the horrible quality builders are getting away with. Imagine committing to paying over 300k and up and the quality of home is subpar.
Only if the state board doesn't muzzle Cy if they do the builder will get off with just a small bump unfortunately people want houses faster than they can build them and most people are too stupid/don't care enough in general
So let me tell you a bit about Taylor Morrison. This is a company engaged in a long legal battle with a retirement community in Florida for requiring a mandatory for profit fee to a “club”, for which Taylor Morrison owns the assets within that community. Furthermore, this isn’t the only community that they do this to. In fact, they decreased the club fee at the beginning of the year to about 1/3 of its normal fee, only to turn around and nearly double it 6 months later in order to make up for their alleged losses. They leave communities in major disrepair, with dysfunctional equipment and all they care about is getting their money. Buyer beware.
@@sqike001ton The club assets belong to Taylor Morrison. The community is built, but Taylor Morrison still retains the club assets, and as such, 2 seats on the HOA board of directors.
@@superusermode that's uncommon they usually want to dump them as quickly as possible I wonder if the HOA refused to take control of them through some loophole leaving the builder stuck with the bag
@@sqike001ton in the case of the retirement community, the HOA was offered to buy the club assets at 4 times their appraised value. In another community, no such offer was made because TM owns rental properties in that community because just before the HOA was turned over to the residents, they made some modifications to the covenants that allowed them to do short term rentals, which fit in with the condominiums they had just completed. Even worse, the “club” just released their budget which includes events that they open to the public, a restaurant which is claims to have a shortfall in the tens of thousands monthly, and other padded expenses, all things the community has to pay for.
I have seen quite a few of his vids. He shows us how bad the construction is and how badly this company and probably others are ripping off home buyers. I personally am grateful that someone has some morals and ethics, and integrity.
Yep, builders have their own internal inspectors to be sure house is right, but obviously they don't care and just hope nobody catches it. They obviously bribe the code inspectors as well, that should be investigated.
I follow him on RU-vid - the houses he looks at have massive issues (windows that don't open, leaking bathrooms, cracked cabinets and on and on). He is only pointing that out - they are trying to get him to stop because well it hurts their business. Do your job and you will not have any issues dear builder. The builders declined an interview, go figure - all you need to know.
We do security for these sites while under construction. The crap i seen during builds is unbelievable. From drywall screws right into water lines running along the wall & water all over the floor. Seen water lines leaking all over building materials . Workers are pressured to get these homes completed fast. So crappy builds. Many workers are sent from temp agency with very little experience or no english at all. I seen piss & crap in bathtubs.
Yeah my neighbors retired husband does a lot of temp work and he said he will be on job sites with guys in the west valley building houses that have never worked construction a day in their life. They're getting people off of instawork and offerup to come work for $20 an hour.
@@Nemo71340 there were a couple times where they met at one site just to shuttle workers around at multiple sites since they didn’t have enough workers . Some of these workers showed up like if they were dressed to go to Church. Around this time we were shopping around for a home . I told my wife we are not getting a new home lol We instead went for a older home that was built in 2004. As soon as these new homes are sold we usually see repairmen Vans parked outside these homes fixing what wasn’t installed properly.
Cy is great! He helps everyone across the country by pointing out things that are wrong and should be fixed. Even if you dont live in a new build you can learn about what you should look for that will result in problems later! Following him from PA. If builders dont want bad publicity they should probably build per spec and make sure things are right the first time and fix the mistakes when found, instead of fighting it. I guess they need some Quality Assurance people to have in progress inspections. Or just stop hiring the cheapest subcontractors.
Bad business strategy to draw bad publicity by trying to silence a reputable home inspector. Never knew the name "Taylor Morrison" ; now millions will never forget it!
"Cy says Arizona standards are strict?" I have to disagree with him. It should be against building code to have mostly styrofoam sheathing and only OSB in a few places. The builders do this for cost cutting that doesn't get passed along to you and leaves you with problems like stucco cracking, insects getting in the house, among other things. I'm not against styrofoam as an exterior insulation as long as it's used on top of OSB. I've been watching Cy expose these trash builders here for a while. Keep up the good work, if the developers would do a better job on quality control and be more proactive about fixing issues then you wouldn't be getting the screen time of shame. There's a lot of unacceptable stuff in Texas with Gold Star and in the UK with New Home Quality Control. I know there's more guys out there exposing trash developers.
It's happening in Australia, the UK and USA. Farming out jobs to low skill and under-trained workers and selling these homes as multi million dollar or $500K "deals" with awful warranties and shady back end business practices. Anyone that speaks out against these companies taking the piss out of people who just want affordable homes will be silenced, or worse.
Imagine being more focused on stopping videos being made about the poor quality and dangerous defects than actually addressing those before closing. As far as Taylor Morrison goes, there’s a lot more shady with them than just their building quality.
Honest company- “Hey sir, you seem very skilled, perhaps we could hire you as a consultant to help us identify problems in our product and keep our customers safe.” These dudes - “ummm, shut up already!”
Unless he is under some sort of contract or NDA preventing him from doing so I think this is covered by the 1st Amendment. It's called Freedom of Speech. So FO TM
@@lynnmarble8456No, he's correct. Taylor Morrison is asking a government entity to police his ability to post videos. That's first amendment, through and through
If they put the same effort into building their homes as they would put into seeking revenge, then he just needs to watch Home Alone for self defense tips.
The giant company going after an honest man trying to protect the average citizen from that corporation. I would think they should focus on building better houses!!
I’ve been in the trades for 30 years and I can say with a straight face that most new construction these days is subpar. I take pride in my work, that’s why I do most things around my house myself.
Thank you for giving Cy the national voice he needs to expose bad builders!!! I personally have learned so much more than I thought I knew about home inspections!!! Stay strong Cy!!!
This guy is a hero, he's being silenced for calling out builders who want ridiculous amounts of money for a house that has defects. Do better. My grandfather built homes all of his houses were near perfect. The stuff have seen in his videos is outrageous.
I've been watching Cy's videos for a long time and what he has shown is down right disturbing.. These builders and other inspectors should be ashamed of their horrible work.. It takes a lot of nerve to go after the one guy who is actually doing the job he has been hired to do.. If I was buying a new home, I would definitely want a inspector with this kind of integrity protecting my purchase, because the builder's have none... At this point I wouldn't buy a dog house if this was the company building it...
That's why I bought a house built in the 1920s. They used concrete and hardwood for the frame. It's also on blocks so I can adjust the foundation if the hills shift
@@RipliWitani Great minds think alike!🙂.. My home was built in 1915, as far as we can tell.. I have a incredible rock foundational basement with hardwood throughout.. Whole family nearly died when a mega-rental company “Innovation Homes” covered up a gas leak when moving in. Made sure our tour happened with all windows and doors were open so we didnt notice a smell. Then kept lying about smell.
Why would a builder not want me to have a properly built safe home ? Bc it costs to much to do it right ? The RU-vidr needs an award for holding the builders feet to the fire . Great job !
When people are making the biggest purchase of their lives, it is crucial that builders do things properly. It could literally be a total catastrophe if not built correctly. Taylor Morrison needs to do some self reflection and stop hurting these homeowners who trusted his company with everything they have.
They do, they're called superintendents and they manage the construction. Many used to be experienced trades people but during my last stint in construction they were mostly construction management majors. I believe they were bumped on pay by meeting deadlines, not quality standards however.
a home inspector doing his job properly is only a threat to builders who cut corners and cheat home buyers. you know what violates standard, home builders who cheat home buyers and cut corners. good on this man for educating the public and exposing these so-called reputable builders that are the cheating their customers and actually putting people in danger.
This guy never seemed to name the builders but would typically walk past their signage on-site. Does this company not know about the Streisand effect?!
His inspection posts are a huge help to homebuyers. Home buyers have no one looking up for them. We can't count on the city or county inspectors doing Their jobs properly. If not for Cy, how would the homebuyers know? Most of the time homebuyers are taken advantage of. No one wants to be held accountable for their shoddy work. Cy helps to hold them accountable and That's what they don't like. Many builders, not just in Arizona, but across the country, do not do their best on purpose. They try to get away with as much as possible. It has to stop. No one should be throwing their hard earned money away. They pay for good building materials and for honest labor. If they aren't going to take pride in their work then they should just not do it in the first place
I love his work in holding these companies accountable. I just purchased a previously owned home and it supposedly passed two inspections and nothing works. I would love to know how to file a complaint about this.
He deserves to talk the truth and expose these builders… I looked over new work done by a company for an addition on a family members home and it was a hack job… inspectors need to expose cheap builders that cut corners
The state needs to up their game and start enforcing codes. These track home builders are getting away with too much. We need more inspectors like him.
Taylor Morrison has been hiding their dirty shady work for decades. Please look into this company immediately. This company has been dirty for decade. Cy Porter is a badass honest human who does everything by the book. When Tayler refuses calls over and over about complaints it means they're stalling trying to cover their dirty illegal and immoral work. Cy, every home owner is on your side. And if there's an honest builder out there, jump on the Cy wagon and do what's right. Use him for all your inspections and do the right thing for the home owners. If it were your home and investment you would be doing the same.
Screw Taylor Morrison maybe they should do a better job and maybe they should hold there subs more accountable. If he has nothing to report they would have no problems. I am a licensed plumber in Phoenix and I see this stuff all the time even in multi million dollar homes and my question is how are inspectors like Cy and the city inspectors passing these homes. Our whole inspections and building of new homes and rulings on flipped homes needs to be changed I see so many heart breaking things that should have never passed any inspection. Cy is a hero to me keep it up. Cy is Fighting for the little person against a corrupt new build community. I will go to court with you if needed to voice my opinion on these crooked builders and city inspectors and what I have seen.
I think this guy is great! KB homes can no longer use their original name, because they've been sued so many times. Contractors NEED to start being honest and quit cutting corners, & EVERY house built MUST be inspected. NOT just the first models of the subdivision.
These companies really don't like their crappy work being showcased. Simple as that. I'm shocked this hasn't happened sooner by multiple companies he's posted inspection results about. I think he's doing a good thing but I'm not surprised at all that they're trying to shut him down.
