For some reason, when I told my older relatives that I got a crested gecko, their first response was, "A live one?" I mean, yes, why would I get a toy one? Isn't that weird? PS. I got a hanging coconut hide and my gecko loves it!
I got a hanging coconut for my crestie as well on amazon it was a Nitangel Coconut Bird Hide. My parents were surprised when I told them I wanted a crestie :)
recent discoveries showed that the new caledonian wild geckos' stomach content is close to 50/50 when it comes to fruits and bugs ratio. also to note, they can be fine for short temperature spikes of +/- 5 F when accounting to their natural range of 70F - 80F, but not for extended periods so still keep an eye on that yours truly a canadian owner of 3 crested, and 1 rescue AFT
Yes!! Yes!!! I totally agree with your vivarium sizes! Most people keep them in much smaller enclosures, about 40 cm tall, 25 cm wide, but I say at least 60cm tall! I like 90cm tall, 60 wide.
Hello, I just watched this video. I'm getting my 1st cresty next week. And this video is amazing and a huge help. Thank you so much. I now know where to go for great advice. 😊
Thanks so much for the help!! I am getting a crested gecko in about a month. I had most of the basics down but you mentioned a few things I didn't know. Thanks!!
Last video of the crested gecko playlist. Low key sad but just wanted to thank you for informing me about these beautiful creatures and all their wonders will hopefully be purchasing one soon thank you for it all‼️
Your video overall is very good and this isn't meant as meant to be negative just some corrections You can house a small gecko in a larger enclosure aslong as you have proper plant coverage and and offer multiple locations with for food that way they don't have trouble finding it, the second thing i wanted to say is you can house a male and female together i dont recommend it as it will lead to egg production and possibly exhaust the female from to much breeding but if you are experienced with them and know how to monitor the signs of possible aggression or if the female is being bred with to much it is possible to house them together. P.S. Congrats on 100k i do find you to have very good content and i hope your channel continues to grow.
Wow!!! You covered almost all of the basic care needs of crested geckos. This video looks to definitely be very reliable. Great video this should help a lot of people. Also, I’ve never seen a crested so crazy about a diet. I guess Lyra just really enjoys Pangea
one of the best care videos i've seen so far! I love your setup! i was going to set up a 45x45x60 for mine, but after seeing your 60x45x60 i feel like i might need to get myself one of those instead. Love the additional space it gives for more plants and climbing space. You can really tell how much you love your animals, and they're living the life of royalty ;)
YES! I'm getting a crestie for Christmas and I've been waiting for this video for ages! I know I can trust your info, but of course I've done other research, I'm not just gonna watch this vid😂
thank you so much for this vid, i'm getting a Crested Gecko hatchling in 4\5 weeks. I got to be honest, I knew nothing about them until now! This tutorial really helped me learn about the Crested Gecko and set up everything i need. I really hope the new arrivals love it! PS. i chose their names all ready :D Kiwi & Rango. I love it xD
Hi. I'm confused about feeding schedules for my crested gecko. I keep getting told different things! Could everyone please tell me their feeding schedules and what diet they use. Thanks.
You are the one that convinced me to get my first crestie, Leo(narda) almost a year ago. I love your videos and I thank you for going the extra mile while finding accurate information to put in your videos. Keep up the great work! (P.S. have you ever considered getting a ball python???)
I got a baby crested gecko when it was 2 weeks old and I tamed him in 3 days!! If you buy a crested gecko and they are used to eating live food then they need it in their diet but if it is a baby or has never had live food then it isn’t necessary for a crested gecko to have live food.
I'm looking at getting the exo terra glass terrarium 18x18x24 that comes with the led light just wondering how long the lights should be on love the video very informative
I know this isn’t a Leopard Gecko video but I learned that I am getting one soon! I am nervous about keeping it warm especially in the winter (America is cold) I wanted to ask for any advice for beginner gecko owner. Sorry to bother but I know you are the best person to go to for help.
Thank you for making this, it was really a great video. I really enjoyed this video, and overall, all of your videos. You do a great job at it, so keep up the good work.
Just wanted to ask if this setup was all good (Leopard Gecko): -Vivarium with front glass opening -Warm hide -Cool hide with coconut fibres -Weird Skull thing that he sits in -Heat mat -Red Sand as substrate -Thermostat and Thermometer Heard many people say you shouldn’t use sand but also seen many say it’s fine. Please answer as I really want mine to be safe and healthy. Thanks.
Samira Noor you incorrectly quoted me so props there and I was only using the eco earth as an example as many people including this channel recommend it. Before you call me irresponsible at least read my comment correctly please.
I wish i could house my crestie in a 18x18x24... I tried it for a few weeks but he hid the whole time and he didn‘t eat, all in all he was just not doing well. Now i got a 12x12x24 and he is doing great
I have a 2 month old crested gecko and have done everything I need before trying to handle him. I have now handled him everyday for 2 weeks and he still hates my hand. I’m not asking for any tips on taming or handling, I just want to know HOW to PICK UP these small geckos without freaking them out! thx
I am thinking of adopting a crested gecko, However should I get a hatchling or an adult? I am a first time owner of a reptile soo... As well as that can a hatchling live in a exo terra nano? And for how long 💛💛
I just got a crested gecko, I've had him for about a week and he hasn't eaten any of his dubia, and it looks like he really hasn't ate much of his pangea. When I offered it to him he did eat it. Reimei is turning two years old on January 2nd, and he did just finish molting. He's pooping regularly and his poop looks fine and he is quite active. Is it still that he is in a new place, I know before I had him, he was housed in a large critter keeper that had paper towels and a few ornaments. Now he is in a large vivarium that has pothos and snake plants that I've had for years and decided to put in there, there is also fake plants as well in there. I do have a low wattage cemeric heater in there since my room is the coldest room and is 68 F, and it will keep the warm side at 77 F, I've seen him both in the warm side of his tank as well as the cold side.
Hello I just subscribed because I do enjoy your channel it's very informational because I work at Petco and I also do have a leopard gecko now and with your advice and the advice I get from a breeder who got me the leopard gecko I did see your dear petco video I haven't really told anyone anything wrong yet and I actually have been doing my research well beforehand so I am sure I know what to say and whatnot and I do appreciate all the information you give
the other night i walked into my room about 9 pm to my crestie on the floor of his container (repti-carpet). i have a ton of cork on the floor even though i knew he probably wouldn’t use it. i got really worried because i thought he was hurt/sick because they usually aren’t on the floor and he’s only about 2-3 months old. i left him alone and came back every 5 minutes and he’d be in a different spot. i then realized he appeared to be stalking something, so i figured he must be trying to hunt. my dad, a wildlife biologist, agreed. just to test if i was right i found a smallish cricket from outside and threw it in his enclosure. (there wasn’t actually any bugs in his enclosure, i had thought he was too young to eat them at that point) anyway, as soon as it crawled into the cork and vines on the ground he grabbed it and started chewing it. i was so happy and proud oml i felt like a mom who’s baby like are for the first time but yea. so i guess the lesson here is that if your gecko is on the floor it may not be because of him being sick/injured, but that he was hunting. (also just to be clear so no one thinks i’m neglecting him of food i fed him pangea a few hours before and put it in for him) sorry for the long paragraph, but if your crestie is on the floor he could be searching for insects or may be hungry
I live in the uk and keep the temp at around 24-26 degrees in my gecko's housing I also spray it twice a day and feed it crickets every other day and paste every day but would like to know about what other foods I can give it. Can you feed them fruit and what about insects and should i just feed them crickets?
My little guy at around 5 inches still is extremely shy in his 20 gallon tank. Hopefully when I move him to the vivarium I'm building he becomes more active but for now he's a pudgy little monster that loves his suction cup exoterra plants. Only big question is I'm using a 2.0 uvb or natural light CFL grow bulb and how much is good for crestys and bromiliads?
Do Crested Geckos use going to the bathroom on you while handling as a defense mechanism or is it just because they're a little nervous or is it completely by chance? Great Video as always!!👏😀👏
Minty-Chan DIGI you do realise that the leopard gecko will get really stressed by this and will perform a lot of territorial movements which can really stress them out
GeckoCrazy 123 sometimes it can I did it my crested still has his tail so dose my leopard all I did was take my Leo out and he walked to my crested cage and just stared at him then walked away
Just a really dumb question, I've grown up mostly with frogs and more fragile skinned animals and such, do I need wet hands to hold a gecko? Do certain oils or perfumes or such hurt geckos if they are on my skin? And do they have a reactive respiratory system like rats do? (My friend's sister is going off to college and I'm taking her crested gecko cause her college won't allow it, I'm trying to do as much research as possible because I want her to be safe and healthy :)
Hello, I'm planning on getting a crested gecko. I have an old terrarium from my brothers leopard gecko. It is 23 x 15 x 15 inches. Does that work for a crested gecko?
