It's finally time to tackle the weeds in the cottage garden! I really want this permaculture cottage garden to be beautiful and functional space. This is my zone 1/2 in my permaculture garden so I like to fill this space with veggies, herbs and flowers that bring me joy and invite me to spend some time in the garden. Join me in this Sunday's video for a few days of gardening begin the cottage garden transformation!

Hey there!
Welcome to my channel, The Nature Patch where I like to share all things gardening, cooking, environmental science and flower farming in my Australian bushland backyard in south coast NSW.
My name is Robyn, an environmental scientist, and flower farmer. I have recently completed my PhD in understanding how people's wellbeing and their connection to nature is impacted by land use change but now I'm taking a break from research to pursue a dream of owning a flower farm. I've always loved gardening and nature and lately have been interested in growing my own organic food!
On this channel you'll find videos relating to garden tours, 'how to' videos, composting, soil health and how to start a flower farm.
I try to upload twice a week and I hope you enjoy!!
🤎 Filmed and edited on Yuin country. I acknowledge and pay respects to Traditional Owners of the land past, present and emerging. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.

Woolies bags are so handy for paths! Nice and consistence size/thickness. I keep a box full of flattened bags for sheet mulching/paths.

Hi Robyn, yes that is a type of Dichondra or commonly known as Kidney Weed. Take it easy. Your garden is looking great.

We got hit with our first real frost last night. Luckily, the only things that seemed to have noticeable damage were potatoes in pots. It's probably due to their location I guess. I've got a big cleanup planned for tomorrow. Don't give up on that rhubarb it might come back. I had one I thought the crown had rotted but it regrew around the original crown. Cheers!

It's been ages since I saw your notification come up... so glad I've found you again. Congratulations on the baby news. I think the ground cover is actually a native called Dichondra. Probably the microcalyx variety... I prefer the dichondra silverfalls and I actually plant it as a grass replacement. You might find the runners don't die under mulch... Your garden is looking great... I'm in the subtropics and it's the cooler dry season so I think it is the best time of year to garden.
