A word to the wise: Don't try to take shortcuts like I did, you will fail. Watch this video and learn. When he says "you have to take it apart", he means it. lol. For me, I had that little back off and somehow wiggled it back in, but there were other mechanical issues, many such as the belt, the U-shaped thing, the on off power switch, yeah it all had to come apart anyway. So Thank you Mr. DIY. All hail Mr. Killobyte DIY, he knows what he's talking about! lol. So yeah, it's working like a champ now! :)

Thank you ever so much. When I opened mine up and parts were -everywhere- It was difficult to tell how it went together. You did a great job of showing things on the video so I could tell what parts went where. I put Loctite blue on the 'shift pin' so maybe it will hold a while longer.

I have took hundreds of these Sparta over the yrs Nice Job if you label the where the screws come from you wont get them mixed up, you made it look hard thats the easiest job on an Kirby to fix. Other than that great Job

Great video. One of the most irritating things about the Generation/ Sentria/ Avalir series Kirbys is the transmission. They are a dream when they work properly, but a pain in the ass when they mess up. I fixed mine this morning, because I had an issue with the bracket cam. I have the Diamond Edition and love it. I have replaced the bracket cam a few times, but had a problem with the last one. I had a spare transmission in my parts supplies, so I just replaced the whole thing for the moment.

When I put my Kirby back together my on/off switch does not work, I took it back apart but everything is in correctly, what could be wrong?

Thank you for a great video we can actually follow! My neutral/drive lever fell out of my G5 but transmission was stuck in Drive. I’ve been using it by turning it off and picking it up when I need to move it, then turning it on when I’m ready to vacuum. Where can you get the new part?

It would be helpful to show exactly how those pieces go together, that fit on the drive pedal....

Is there a way to keep it in neutral all the time ? Cut the belt ? We have wood floors and use the wand. Great video, best on Kirby !

Hello. Thank you. Got mine fixed with this tutorial. Fingers crossed it lasts a while. Only thing was when I took the drive out there was a loose screw and a brass coloured washer. Could not see from tutorial or from inside where this might have come from. Have you any ideas?
