Complete GoPro of my 1st mission in Ukraine - Kherson & Mykolaiv
The only purpose of today’s video is to shine a light on the early part of the war that people only saw a 1 minute a clip of. This is the full context, hope you learned something. No amount of training can prepare you for this shit.

Not only that but we're not getting this footage 6 months after when they come home from deployment, most of these videos are getting uploaded 20 minutes after it happens. I don't think we've ever had the ability to watch a live war from POV as it happens.

To me (not a vet), the scariest thing about all this is the constant confusion. How easy and convenient it is to talk about the struggle for independence and the human sense of justice. The problem is, most people that watch and comment on these don't seem to... get them. Like actually understand what is happening, or honestly even think as to why the people we are more or less seeing through the eyes of are doing what they are doing. Seeing it isn't enough. If not understood, just seeing it makes people think "they're wasting ammo, they're too disorganized" etc. Those people can then be misled into thinking support should be pulled as the aid that is given is being wasted (in their view).

I also hope I don't live to see the day where my own country is under attack. EDIT: I'm seeing a lot of bickering and bitterness in this reply section. I wasn't directing my original comment in an insulting manner to the guys in the video-- I know they're trying their best, given the situation. I was just generally saying that the confusion is a scary aspect of this war, though as others have been quick to point out it applies to most wars. This video taught me why working communication, a chain of command and radio equipment are so very important for a modern army. Fighting in a war is bad enough as it is, but if you are being sent in there without having a plan, not knowing your mission objectives and not being updated about the situation and position of the enemy, then it is impossible to feel confident going out there and your morale will take a hit.

That's not true. In ww2 the Allies knew they were winning. Today's technology soldiers have phones and can Google the news. You have squad leaders give you orders. The Commander orders to take a position and the squad leader tells you how they are gonna do it. Chain of command. Go and ask a veteran if they knew what they were doing when in service and who their commander was.

Shit! This is the most real footage of the war in Ukraine I have seen. My uncle was a serving member of the S.O.E in the 2nd world war - was dropped into Norway and France to help organise the resistance forces. Didn't talk about it for years - but when he opened up later in life he described exactly what you have captured in this video. When he dropped in the info was always wrong and the chaos was always terrifying. The stress of not knowing was always the worst. The same with my dad who was in the RAF - the stress of not knowing is what made young pilots throw up and piss in their flying suits - I salute you. I watched your interview - there are very few warriors - many of which are probably stupid! True bravery comes from admitting your fear and doing it anyway. They don’t deserve this side of me and if possible I would conceal it forever so they never even have to conceive the horror I went through in war cause that’s the thing eventually that darkness became my light and it just made me more brutal in a fight to the point it was not horror anymore but delight and I eventually reveled and prided myself on killing more of the enemy as they were the enemy a target they had no name no anything just a target that needs a bullet sorry I got long winded but I wanted to see it I can explain a little more of what war is like cause I technically have 2 CIBs even tho I was only an infantry man from 91’ on

Ukraine policy's are no Russian soldiers prisoners -pro Russia hostages alive. Russia got over 25 000 Ukrainian soldier's well alive in prison camps around. Ukraine had no more prisoners to exchange with Russia now, Russia following international war law's. Not Ukraine, Amnesty International investigation team was secret watching Frontline for a month time. And what Amnesty International investigation team report said, are what Russia claims from day one. Ukrainian military azov are using civilian as human shield, and Ukrainian military azov install military bases inside school's and hospital's. Blaming Russian for Russian speak casualties afterwards, Zelinuspuppet got furious at Amnesty International investigation team. The civilians have nothing left to control but their own state so everyone tries to maintain their physical and mental health to the best of their ability and being negative is direct opposite of that. At the end of the day if you and your surroudning are alive, fed, have a shelter it was a pretty good day. In times of war we dont need much to be happy hence the positivity. On top of that seeing news of global support, of arms given to our military (which reassures that they give a great fight to "world's second army") and successful actions by the millitary give us a great hope that it is simply impossible to lose in this war and we will liberate our lands. Somehow when the invasion began everyone switched to some mode that just blocks all negativity because it can only lead to despair and noone needs that. And everyone understood that if you see someone who is nervous or have real struggles (and a lot of people stuggled either mental, financial or any else) it is your duty to help them in any way you can. And seeing this acts of kindness also help you reassure that we are strong and in fact stronger than ever, which in turn gives hope and the whole cycle begins again. I trully wish that noone else ever feel this on their own, because it definetely take a tall on you, but it is in this times we feel our honesty, dignity and humanity at their peak. Of course, when you have millions of troops in active and reserve roles then you can send people off to training and then to field but, when you are one of the poorest eastern European countries it gets hard on the budget to do that with the couple hundred thousand troops most of which have never seen combat. They did okay for the training and equipment that they were given.

As Ukrainian guy, I must say: "thanks" to these guys, which are coming to Ukraine without combat experience, just to help. Right now Ukrainian army is attacking and doing good, but in March, when this video was made: most of us were sure, that we'll be destroyed and were just trying to kill as more Russian soldiers as we can before death. As a native speaker want to let you know: what are Ukrainian people are talking about 9:50-11:17 local people are joking about language skills of man with tea 16:50 ukrainian guy was asking cameraman, did Russians noticed, this position or not 22:05-22:17 first one guy told to another, not to sit like this, and guy answered: "oh, fuck you" but changed his position, then one of guys was asking: why our artillery isn't shooting russians 22:48 guy is talking on the phone with someone and explaining him, how to reach this position under the bridge. Suddenly on 23:12 tank started attacking their car and guy was in panic a little bit. Guy with a phone was asking about coordinates, where Russian tank is shooting On 25:14 guy was trying to explain how to use RPG, but didn't know how to say "push red button" and said red knopka. ("knopka" is a "button" in Ukrainian and Russian) 26:20 guy on the phone was told, that there 2 injured because of tank attack and then man with a phone told, to provide injured guys with first aid and that he'll send 5 units for help. That's why I think on 26:37 cameraman is writing that his commandor went somewhere (because he went to help guys to deal with Russian tank) On 31:57 driver was offering not vodka, but alcohol drink King's Bridge. It's not really strong alcohol, something like beer, but with a taste of cocktail like gin-tonic About rifles they have: on 5:00 he has RPG and Dragunov's sniper rifle 15:08 guy has Ukrainian modification of AK 74 called "Malyuk" or someone calls it "Vepr". It's using the same magasines as Ak 74, but it's bull-pup. On 17:39 guy has Kalashnikov machinegun: RPK Cameraman is using AK 74 Other soldiers are mostly with different versions of Ak: AK 47 (not sure about that), AKM, AKMS, AK 74 and AKS 74

True. I may get flack for this, but I even respect the Russian kids who are just infantry soldiers there as well as everyone else fighting and protecting their land. It's sad tbh. When people join the military, they listen to what they are told. America invaded the middle east, and the soldiers just did what they were told. This is why when people treat Russians like they are the worst people on this planet, I quickly remind them NATO allies, and America did the exact same shit in the middle east, they lied about WMD's, and invaded that place and tore it to shreads, along with MANY other countries around the world. It's just really sad, the only people who suffer are Ukrainian citizens, Russian citizens, and Ukrainian soldiers and Russian soldiers. Both leaders on both sides are scumbags, and are trying to play political chess, while their citizens are losing their livlihoods.

@@Crudecraig I would agree... sad is the reality of war... hate to say this, I think these folks operating in small teams are more of a distraction strategy in the bigger scheme of the Ukrainian army strategy; ie. while the Ukrainian army execute the main plan , these small teams execute hit/run and recon missions to both harass the russian military outposts and gather recon info. Honestly, if these small teams can learn to operate effectively as fire recon teams, which will take some time, they can be an asset to the Ukrainian army plan to push the Russians out of their country. This is much like the British commandos in WWII, which their harassment tactics caused huge headaches for the Germans. They hit the germans in random (but strategically chosen) sites and gathered key intel as well. The Ukrainian army is a fraction of the Russian army, hence it would be like pitting David against Goliath. But David toppled Goliath with a strategically launched stone. Imagine a bunch of these "Davids" or small fire/recon teams causing havoc in the Russian lines with these hit/run tactics. I think the Ukrainian army should provide better support to these small teams via better equipment/ammo, better lines of communication to the main command centre and also if available better air support either through Mig 29's or those cool Turkey attack drones.
