Huge tip that really helped my baby have a pleasant bathing experience with no crying since day 1!! Once you put you baby in the bath, immediately place a handtowel soaked in the warm bath water over the baby so that she remains warm and comfy. My baby's face scrunched up and was ready to let out a big cry the second she was placed in the bath but as soon as the warm handtowel went over her chest she calmed down and I've been doing it ever since :) Hope it helps!!

I am a new Father expecting our baby in a little under three months so thank you so much for the video Emma! Question, instead of soap and water could natural oils and water not be used instead? I would assume that would protect the skin from drying out and serve as a very gentle and nourishing alternative to soap bathes.

Depends on spit up. If he gets spit up on him a lot then he’s getting another bath. We give him a bath in the sink or in the tub. We lay down towel in the bottom and get it warm and lay him on top of it. We use a detachable shower head to give him a bath. I don’t use dirty water to clean him.

If we do choose to use some mild soap or shampoo, how do you rinse it off properly? it seems like the baby tub would at that point be "contaminated" with the run-off suds, so that water would never be clean enough to rinse with, would it? And since the baby is partially in that water throughout the bathing process, it seems like you would never get rid of all the soap on their skin unless you rinse them outside the tub? But this feels so cumbersome and dangerous to do with a slipper baby. Do you have any recommendations?

Is a regular washcloth good enough or does it have to be something special for babies? I, baby daddy, think a regular one would be sufficient and good enough but the baby mommy says it has to be a special one. Hence I'm asking you, what should we do?
@goldiesdaughter3550
@goldiesdaughter3550 Год назад
Baby wash cloths are softer and thinner. I wouldn't oppose using regular washcloths, but would pat or lightly wipe sensitive areas instead of swiping or scrubbing.

my steps to bathing my baby, our house is always warm due to central heating 1)put her in a car seat/pram(because she crawls away), put her 2 towels in the bathroom and make sure its clear at least for the next 20min 2) take 1 diaper, 1 vest, 1 body suit, 1 pair of socks and 1 mini trousers 3) take a big changing matt, put on the bed/desk then put a blanket and a changing matt on top 4) take her hair and body oil or lotion and put on the side and collect a few toys so she won't get bored during the changing process 5) go to the bathroom, rinse her dish thoroughly and load her baby dish with some clean water and baby soap 6) Take my baby out of the car seat/pram, remove her clothes (on top of the changing matt liner) and remove the changing matt liner to the dirty clothes 7) go to bath her with no music or loud things ideally. Allow her to play until she gets bored then 8) bath her from hair to feet with body and hair soap then get her out onto the towel then to the prepared changing matt. she hates the belt so i don't use it on changing matt How long we spend in the bath and water temperature is subject to the weather and available time and how happy she is. Ideally bath her everyday but sometimes every other day and sometimes twice a day especially after a mess. no issues with "too much bathing at about 8.5months

OK so my children are teens now but I always washed faces before putting them in the bath. For hair washing I would take all their clothes and leave the vest and nappy on. I would rap the in a towel a then hold them up against my side with my non dominant hand supporting their head a neck. Then wash their hair over the bath. Then I would finally remove the vest and nappy and go into the bath to wash their body. I just found it easier that way as my children liked to wriggle a lot ever at a very young age and I just gave my piece of mind. For my two the best part of bathing was when the cream was put on

Very interesting and informative video! In South India, we bathe the baby everyday, probably because it’s very hot in most places here all year round. The traditional bath is given with the baby lying on the bather’s outstretched legs and can look pretty rough for the uninitiated-the baby is massaged quite vigorously during the bath, plus the water is pretty hot! The belief is that this relieves the body aches from being handled all day and I’ve seen that my baby does sleep much better after the bath. This type of bath requires a lot of skill, though, because you have to balance a squirmy, soapy baby on your legs while pouring water over them with a mug. So we usually hire an experienced elderly woman to come in and give the baths daily.

When my son was born, I bathed him every morning. To me, newborns wake up smelling sour, and I hated that smell. Plus, by bathing them every morning, it helps prevent them from getting cradle cap. And trust me, you won’t dry out their skin if you bathe them everyday, for that’s a myth. My son is now 8, and he has such soft skin that he doesn’t need lotion when I bathe him every night. Having dry skin is hereditary 🙃!
