Did you know that one of Tomoyuki Tanaka's secret reasons for liking "Godzilla vs. Destoroyah" was because Destoroyah's ability to change forms reminded him of the 1980's Bagan (Bakan)? The man truly was a fan of the monster up until the end. Thank You VERY Much for allowing me the opportunity to help! Bagan is one of my favorites, so being able to discuss his origins and abilities was extremely fun.
SuperGodzillaGaming Wow even you are here. Can you play more Godzilla ps4 or maybe do tutorials and techniques for beating a kaiju while playing as another. I would like to see how to play as super mechagodzilla.
SuperGodzillaGaming it would be awesome if you got another opportunity to go over the origins of the video game Godzilla's and their story's. Especially super Godzilla
@PartySlime76 bagan: the many formed monster? (1964) Invasion of Bagan (1966) Godzilla vs Bagan (1991) KOTM but with bagan GMB: Godzilla Mothra Bagan. Mecha-Bagan in (1991) Grand Bagan Cretacious Bagan DesBagan Kaiser Bagan Gigan with Bagan
Incorrect. Toho still owns him and his design and he's fully canon. Super Godzilla is an officially licensed material and Bagan as we know him does indeed exist in that game. He just hasn't shown up in any movie yet.
Fun fact: Bagan is not the first Toho Kaiju to be brought back from a scrapped project and actually used in something. That honor goes to our old friend Megalon, who was initially scrapped from the proposed "Godzilla vs. the Space Monsters: Earth Defense Directive" script, which ultimately got cut down into Godzilla vs. Gigan, and Toho ended up using him, of course, in Godzilla vs. Megalon.
GIANT OCTOPUS: インド洋で大蛸が日本の捕鯨船を襲う (1953) "A Giant Octopus Attacks a Japanese Whaling Ship in the Indian Ocean" (Concept by Eiji Tsuburaya) FRANKENSTEIN: Frankenstein vs. The Human Vapor (1963) (Concept by Shinichi Sekizawa) & Godzilla vs. Frankenstein (1963) (Concept by Jerry Sohl) GODZILLA JUNIOR: Two Godzillas! Japan S.O.S.! (1967) (Concept by Shinichi Sekizawa) And then... MEGALON: Godzilla vs. The Space Monsters (1971) (Concept by Kaoru Mabuchi)
Damn BRING HIM BACK. I'magine A FUCKING MOVIE BAGAN VS SUPER GODZILLA!!!! THQT WOULD BE NUTBUSTING the colors the design the EPICNESS the share Destruction and FEROCITY OF THE FIGHT WOULD HAVE ENTIRE COUNTRY SIDES OR REGIONS DESTROYED!!?
What i find ironic, is that one of the main reasons Bagan was cut is his shapeshifting ability becasue is was feared to be expensive. Yet Destroyah basically has the same ability when he changes into his other forms.
Reverse Dipper Pines That pun was so terrible, I think I had a Caesar. I could probably come up with something Batra than that if I tried. Did you Heisei what I did there? It probably was Toho difficult to pick up on.
It is funny how Toho has been against Bagan do to their concerns of a new Monsters added in the Godzilla franchise following Biollante - while the following movies would be rehash with the more well establish Kaiju of the series, they still created new ones in Destoroyah and Orga. Add this the fact that the Godzilla movies always presented new Monsters in the running long life of the franchise. Anguirus to King Ghidorah, and then adding Monsters from other Toho movies, like Monthra in universe. In my honest opinion, the idea of been afraid having Big G fighting a new monster because one of the movies didn't do well is just a lame excuse. Bring Bagan and give him a movie already, be solo or pinned against any of the Big G's Kaiju roster.
Wait...Bagan had three forms in the Resurrection of Godzilla.... 3.... Both are scrapped ideas fans desperately want.... Bagan is in Half Life 3 confirmed.
Hope you enjoy learning about the prolific scrapped monster Bagan! Notes: > 15:17 *HEY! Watch the whole video before commenting **_"BAGAN WAS GONNA BE IN FINAL WARS"_** please.* Bagan was not going to be in that movie! That is a *HOAX!* This video _literally_ debunks that exact thing and people _still_ comment on here stating it as fact! The "Bagan" in that so-called "deleted scene" is actually REIZAUS from the TV show _Super Star Fleet Sazer-X._ > _Resurrection of Godzilla_ is the source of the misconception "Godzilla vs. the Devil." > Bagan was recently scrapped _AGAIN!_ In a recent interview with _Tokusatsu Hiho,_ Renji Oki, author of the novels _GODZILLA: Monster Apocalypse_ and _GODZILLA: Project Mechagodzilla_ revealed that he had considered including Bagan in one of the novels, but relented as he thought it would be legally impossible to use the character.
this would be a better use of the oxygen destroyer used in KoTM. It would be better than just destoroyah in 2 ways: 1. they can use a more creative origin story yet still call back to the oxygen destroyer 2. they don't use destoroyah again. it would massively cheapen the impact of the end of the heisei series. another thing i think would be cool would be a destoroyah/king ghidorah hybrid since he was also fighting ghidorah when he was almost killed
Probably won’t happen. The only known instance of a scrapped monster being put into a film was Megalon, who was scrapped from Godzilla vs The Space Monsters: Earth Defense Directive when it was turned into Godzilla vs Gigan, who appeared in the next film. Bagan has been given several chances, I think Toho is done trying to give him a chance.
Yeah true, but due to him being scrapped I’m not sure Toho would even offer him for purchase. And Legendary would probably find him too obscure to be worth using. I’d say Bagan’s best chance is with IDW
What if bagan is the villain kaiju of godzilla vs kong? He might be the reason for godzilla and king kong to unite AGAINST, so the clear winner is both godzilla and kong. Think about that..
Then again mothra and king ghidorah are fantastical kaiju that are gonna have realistic origins, Not to mention legendary has allegedly licensed other toho kaiju for them to appear in the monsterverse. Bagan might (or might not) be on that list, but I'm just saying.
Bagan isn't the only monster to feature in a game but not a movie. Krystalax and Obsidius only show up in Godzilla Unleashed but never in any other game or a single movie. Maybe someday we'll see one of these monsters in a Godzilla movie. My hope is for Bagan, he just seems like a worthy opponent for Godzilla and a movie were Godzilla actually turns into super Godzilla would be cool
Times a changing for this unlucky kaiju!! From making an appearance on Godziban and getting a MMS figure, Bagan is FINALLY getting some love after all this time!!!
In the kom ending it said people were trying to make there own titans so scrabble some godzilla DNA, gihdohra DNA, some muto DNA, kong DNA, shinomura DNA and bam godzilla killing bagan
Here is another tidbit as Bagan very nearly made yet another video game appearance. In an interview with Simon Strange of Pipeworks and the development of the Wii version of Godzilla Unleashed, he was asked if Bagan was considered. His reply was that he was thought of, but was instead dropped in favor of more unique body type monsters such as Varan. This is interesting as this is the second time Varan and Bagan jostled for the same role. This interview was done in a vocal podcast that also mentions a few other monsters who didn't make the cut.
Some updates. Bagan has appeared in Godziban. And has a Vinyl and an Xplus figure coming. To note it's using the Grey and red version of Bagan from Studio tour.
This design would be absolutely horrifying if adapted into the Legendary design language. Would also be neat if it took some cues from Shin Godzilla and mutated throughout its run. Lots of body horror already in the design with the almost exposed muscle.
My favorite design is definitely the first totem Bakan look. It looks so original and memorable. The only thing is I'd really prefer that he not be a shapeshifter, I think he's good as is in the totem look.
Him being considered for Rebirth of Mothra is very clear, the story of Mothra and her larva teaming up to fight a creature fits all too well with the plot of the first movie. Though not all the way, the similarities are definitely there.
Too obscure to be worth using. Bagan is the kind of kaiju who has the best chances of reappearing in a film that has a ton of kaiju, and even then it’s not assured
+Wikizilla I defeated Bagan as plain ‘ol normal Godzilla, in SuperGodzilla. I somehow didn’t realize I could turn into Super Godzilla, and I didn’t get all 3 super power plant charge ups, in order to turn Super. So I just went in like any other boss fight. I’m sure I died a lot, but I did finally beat him. So it’s definitely not impossible, like you were saying it is generally thought to be, bc I definitely did it. I remember, many years later, getting nostalgic & playing thru the game again, but this time I figured out the super thing at the end. I then fought, & easily defeated Bagan, and was blown away that if I had just calmed my ADHD down, & read the damn dialogue, I would’ve had a much easier time fighting him as a kid. I was pissed, but I guess it was something of an accomplishment.
You were literally planned to fight Bagan in Mothra vs bagan, and there was a scraped idea that you would’ve fought Godzilla along with bagan and then that idea was resurrected anyway but replaced bagan with battra.
"Mothra vs Bagan, a movie set in the same universe of heisei godzilla" Me: great! I love that version of Mothra! * mothra dies in the script * Me: OH S-
Bagan for the MonsterVerse: He looks like a hulking, brutish beast on the outside, but he is actually a calculating and intelligent mastermind (similar to Ridley from the Metroid series). He came from another planet in order to reduce Earth into a mine for his alien worshippers to exploit for rare minerals and substances to power up their weaponry (one of them is a doomsday weapon of mass destruction capable of destroying an entire planet called Gorath (named after the asteroid from the titular Toho movie, Godzilla: Final Wars, and the Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse novel)). To do this, he had enlisted the help of King Ghidorah, Gigan, SpaceGodzilla, Hedorah, Orga, Megalon, and Monster X to destroy major cities. Also, he will be identified by Monarch as a "Super Alpha Titan" that even Alpha Titans fear due to his powers and intelligence. He was also identified in Chinese myths as a Titan that once attacked an ancient city.
Additionally, it is also revealed that Bagan had strip-mined and destroyed various planets in the Universe that contained life (he especially loves draining resources from planets with sentient and civilized life with advanced technology). Bagan himself was also recorded in Japanese, Babylonian, Egyptian (the Egyptians called him "He Who Devours Everything in His Path" and identified him as a demon from Duat), Yoruba, and Abrahamic mythology (he was identified by early Christians as the demon Mammon).
My guess for how MonsterVerse Bagan will be like: Appearance: Design A, with some elements from an Elasmotherium, a Triceratops, a rhinoceros beetle, Doomsday (from DC Comics), Fin Fang Foom, and Gomora as well as European dragons, sharks, and killer whales. Personality: A mix of Ridley, Megatron, Alduin, Smaug, Ultraman Belial, Lord Drakkon (from Boom! Studios' Power Rangers comics), and Don Armage (from Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger). Vengeful, sadistic, greedy, sociopathic, insatiable, and megalomaniacal with a God complex.
I just really like the terms Sacred Monkey Beast and Demon God Beast. Lol Bagan looks-and sounds by description- like an absolutely badass villain for a Godzilla film! How they keep passing him over is virtually mind boggling. How much better would Godzilla(2014) have been if King Goji had Bagan to battle instead of the Ross and Rachel of the MonsterVerse, HokMuto and FeMuto?! Even all his special attacks sound better than Flapping Jump Stomp or Claw to the Friggin Gills. Ok, i made those up, but they were cheap-shots. Bagan for act 2(hell, make him the big bad) villain of Untitled Godzilla KOTM sequel after GvK!
Fan work has made me go from wishing Bagan would appear in a movie to hoping he never appears. Seriously, Kaiju War Chronicles might as well suck Bagan off with how they write him there. And I love the site, which is a shame.
Beating bagan was an awesome feeling when I was a kid playing super Godzilla, I even made a ritual of beating the game every day when I was a kid because I loved it so much...and it didn't have a save feature. You didn't have to become super Godzilla to beat him however, he was totally beatable as normal Godzilla, but it was a bitch and took a lot of time a patients to do, a thing young me had a hard time doing but did it anyway
I know the Super Nintendo Godzilla game gets panned a lot, but I really liked it as a kid and if I ever get around to owning a Nintendo console again (and they offer the ability to purchase old games like they did with the Wii), I'm definitely going to buy it and play through it again. I had no idea the story behind Ba(g/k)an was so wild. Thanks for sharing.
Destoroyah is toughest Godzilla's oppenent in Franchise. Bagan is easily the strongest kaiju ever if this dude will appear on screen i would lost my shit. Godzilla won't have any chance hes 150 meters and 280k TONS. Until he goes Super saiyan
In light of a new Godzilla series being developed by Toho, a couple of things need to happen (in order): 1. Keep the Shin Godzilla design. Develop the arms a little more so they're bulkier and usable. Other than that, the design, I think, is very good. 2. Stay with the Shin Godzilla story line. I know Toho had said before they're not going to do a sequel to Shin, they need to do a sequel to it anyway, and put the little monsters that were on Godzilla's tail in and a big monster for Godzilla to fight. 3. Bagan needs to be plugged in. Since Godzilla is an organism that transformed into what he is in Shin story line, Bagan can be something similar. Add in elements of the original concept, Bakan, along with some concepts of the movies he was suppose to be in, and put a dash of the Super Godzilla element in there. I think Bagan would fit in really well with this story line. The possibilities are there and the potential is great to do this stuff. Either way, for this topic, Bagan would be an awesome addition to the new Godzilla series Toho is getting geared up to do. Of course, Legendary could jump on this as well.
Destoroyah is strongest Godzilla's foe Godzilla faced in LİVE ACTİON. BUTTT BAGAN is easily the strongest kaiju ever, even stronger than Godzilla, hes 280k tons and 150 meters. Until Godzilla goes super saiyan.
to be really fair I never heard of bagan before when I got into Godzilla fanbase. but it does sound like it would've been an interesting to see bagan in action but I kinda see why toho didn't want to risk it. also merry Christmas.
I liked that greenish design "B" the best. The one they intended to use pretty much looks like Destroyah, but not as good. That final shapeshift into a triple hybrid would have been cool, though. Also, that evil version of Mothra in the 1993 Godzilla vs Mothra looks like Bagan in its larval stage.
I like to imagine Bagan as a benevolent god from ancient times that is taken out of his own time and is mined controlled by aliens and at the end of Super Godzilla, he is brought back to ancient China to live in peace.
For anyone who has played Super Godzilla: To see Bagan perform his force field defensive move, fight Bagan as regular Godzilla and fire your atomic breath attack at him. Aside from all attacks doing 1 damage and Godzilla's Spiral ray doing something like 20, his normal atomic breath will do Zero damage thanks to his energy field defense.
If we're to make the comparison to be DBZ I find Bagan to be Godzilla's Broly. Moderately impressive, but in the end almost entirely riding on fan hype.
There should be a new Godzilla game for the Switch, PS4, and Xbox featuring Bagan as the final boss. It should be called Super Godzilla remastered. (Featuring a DLC pack of different Godzilla variations, along with the Chinese Timesplitters music)
