@Latest Obsession I have it. It is super fun. There is a ton of room for expansion with different kaiju and scenarios; but given that nothing has been done so far, it sadly looks to be DOA.

@Latest Obsession It was released in 2019 or 2020. Granted, the pandemic may have thrown a wrench into things, but there seems to have been little push from Funko when it first came out and even less about it after. It simply may not have sold all that well.

I could live with controlling Blue Dotzilla, but the boss combat is undeniably confusing. This is one of those rare games where the game manual sheds light on how the fights are executed, but when you're a kid, you ain't got time for that stuff! And as an adult, you *definitely* don't have time for that stuff, so trial and error learning it is. It took me years before I had the patience to complete the game, but being able to witness the birth of Super Godzilla and the introduction of the "new" monster Bagan are memories that will remain with me. This game is definitely not for everyone, and not even one I would readily recommend, but I still really enjoy watching other fans take the plunge and experience it for the first time, in all its awkward 16-bit trumpeting glory. Great review!

I think the only good part of the game IMO is Super Godzilla. His design does look rather crazy and beefy but I like it that way and he's the reason why SpaceGodzilla exists since he's one of my favorite monsters even though his movie is kind of... not well-liked.

Reading manual is one of the most exciting gaming thing out there. As a kid and now as an adult I always read the manual before playing a game, installing a system, installing program, etc.

Lol I remember buying this game as a 11 year old and being super excited to play it only to be frustrated and annoyed by it's design. It took me a few days to just figure out how to attack the enemy lol! It wasn't until I became a teen, raised my gaming skills and got the rom of it that I beat it and grew to really enjoy it. Still waiting for Bagan to make a film appearance haha

Fun fact: someone is actually remaking this game in RPG maker, the blue dot section is still the same, but combat is now a turn based RPG. Way better than....this

Honestly it's nice that we get to see MIB in full when he's reviewing or just talking about stuff. He's very expressive with his movements, so it's like you're watching an actual character. I've said this before in a convo about youtubers and I'll say it here too, MIB has been one of the best examples of someone who has been improving so much on their content as time moves forward and that makes me really happy to see.

I know this game has it's mountain of faults, the thing that annoyed me the most was the fact you couldn't save your game & would have to start from scratch every time. But with that said, it brings back so many memories as a kid playing it in the TV room & my Mom watching & cheering me on, for that alone it will always be 4 stars to me.

This was my first Godzilla game and one of my favorites when I was a little kid. I know this game is flawed, but I think because I grew up playing it, I can't hate it. It still has its challenge and there's a lot of great things to come back to for myself. It's at least easier to understand than Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters!

I hear "I'm your Number One fan" always gives me "Misery" vibes and my Sagittarius-Sense starts tingling. And not for nothing, but Godzilla looks like he was drawn by Rob Liefeld in this game. Poor MIB - he really sounds like he needs a nice cup of tea and a big slice of cake after this slog.

A neighbor of mine owned this game and I've played it. The combat system made no sense to me at all and I could never get past the first level. I'm glad to see validation that I wasn't the only one who found this game too hard and not fun at all. Great review, MIB! Edit: When are we getting a review of Beat, Beat, Mothra? I wanna learn more about Mothra's Idol career! This story must be told, lol!

If people thought Godzilla PS4 was a hard and not fun games they definitely should compare to this. I still think Godzilla PS4 is still a good Godzilla game. Even though it is repetitive. But I get to play monsters and make them feel very heavy. But that is just me. Thanks for the review of this Super Godzilla game. I never played it.

I think this score and review are totally fair and your commentary was both accurate and fun to hear! I'll admit to being a fan of Super Godzilla though, and not for nostalgia or anything like that (I didnt get it until I got a Retron 3 for my 17th birthday and was filling out my gaming library). To me, Super Godzilla has always been like an odd little Godzilla RPG. It's wierd, but in a way I think it really captures the feel of Godzilla's Heisei era, including the pacing and the combat. I dont really think it's "good" but I enjoy it every once in awhile. Also, somehow i had no idea Bagan was in this game when i played it for the first time, so my mind was blown. That experience alone made this game very special to me, flaws and all.

Great ending. Loved this game as a kid, as an adult yeah its tedious, but still love the nostalgia of playing it with friends. Never fought mecha-ghidorah as supergodzilla cause I never could find all the super energy in time. Last 2 fights were brutal, but when you transform, priceless.

Best way to think of this game is that it isn't really a fighting game but instead an unusual take on the JRPG genre. That's why you get random encounters, healing items, ect.

I had a cousin who had this game. I felt bad for him because he sounded so hyped to play it. Then we sat down to play and he got… this game. Turns out he got it mixed up because of the infamous ad on Nintendo power for Godzilla: Destroy all monsters, also known as Godzilla: Kaijū Daikessen.

Seems like every youtuber hates this game but I love it. It was my 1st SNES game and I've beaten it god knows how many times. 25 years later and I'm playing it on my steam deck now. Still have my original cart in a custom case I ordered online.

Played this game a lot when I was little so I do have a big soft spot for it, while it does have it's bright spots like the graphics look really good, the sound effects and music are top tier and bagan being included is very awsome but the gameplay is it's biggest flaw with the instructions being very cryptic and the world map being annoying so I see why people would not like it.

I remember trying to play Super Godzilla on my computer, but I didn’t played it much because the fighting system was confusing as hell and using the controls on a computer was difficult to use. But at least Bagan (my favorite scrapped Toho kaiju) appeared in something and was memorable in Super Godzilla also Super Godzilla as well for being a recycled design for Spacegodzilla.

I understand why people dislike or hate this game, but I love it and have great memories playing this game. I actually never had a problem with the fighting system personally but will fully acknowledge that it is really confusing for most especially if you didn’t grow up with it. Great review MIB

It's an obscure Japanese only release for the Dreamcast. I am not sure if it's a promotional item or not. Very rare.

Honestly I feel like the monster combat sections of the game could've played like an actual fighting game and by pausing the game you're able to see a list of Godzilla's attacks/finishing moves instead of just carefully treading towards the enemy, doing a punch, move backwards without getting hit, initiating an attack, and watching the same set of repeated animations like an overly long RPG battle. I think that could've made the game at the very least tolerable and very rewarding kind of like watching a Godzilla movie where you watch the human scenes nobody wants to see and getting to the monster fights where everyone gets their money's worth.
