The real reason for giving WAG9 loco are: 1. Wap7 & wag9 are very similar loco having different gear ratio. 2. The production of wap7 loco has been stopped. IR only focusing on vande Bharat Express. 3. IR using those limited wap7 loco in high priority train and other train get Offlink. 4. Wag9 loco are easily available anywhere.

Indian railway me Train ki speed or timing average speed k hisab se calculate Kiya jata hain. 55 km/ h se jyada average speed rakh kar chale to usi train ko superfast train consider karenge. Doesn't matters if the Loco is WAP 4/5/7 orWAG 9. Is train ka mps 110km/h pe restricted hoga. Tabhi is ko WAG 9 allot Kiya hoga.isse average speed maintain ho ja ta hain.
Lol... Vande Bharat also runs at 130 kmph and rajdhani also with same kmph. But VB takes 4.14 hrs vs 4.45 hrs by rajdhani on ndls-kanpur route. It's not the track speed but loco acceleration and braking that defines loco performance.
Most of the SCR trains are running with WAGs category locos, Lalaguda the main passenger loco shed who having most of the WAP 7s they are not having most of the locos in SCR range. passenger Loco pilots hi rehte hai unka fault bhi nahi he 😅😂

Is WAG 9HC loco ka dono pantograph Faiveley LX3600 single arm type High Reach panto hai. Ye ek special baat hai is loco unit ka. Ye pantograph common nahi hai, lekin jahan hote hain waha train ka overall looks jarur enhance karte hain.

WAG12 are replacing WAG9 at a faster rate, so now IR has many WAG9 free. If there is any shortage of WAP7 due to failure, then WAG9 is used. That too for slower passenger trains and those express trains which are running at sections with speed limit restricted to 100- 110kmph. Many WAG9 are now free in southern part of India, where freight trains are now hauled mainly by WAG12, and here track has speed restriction. So you will find WAG9 in those section with express trains.

Dekho seddhi baat main reason hai wap-7 loco ki kami bhi hai ..Aur (Traction Loco Controller ) TLC jo ki train ko loco assign karte hain unke pass wap-7 loco currently available nahi hoga kyun ho sakta hai vo ya to maintenance ke liye gaya ho ya kisi dusri train me assing hua hoga .
One thing I have noticed with Indian passengers. If they are given good food and drinks (tea, coffee, juices) etc. and clean coaches, rest is immaterial. Even if the train is a few hours late, they don't care about the technicalities😄
Koi v loco pilot ho sakta hai waise. Jisko 3 phase loco chalana aata hai woh gadi me duty kar sakte hain. Kyuki passenger wala loco pilot ko goods loco operate karne ka experience hota hai pehle se.
Vande Bharat is now profitable for railways because of the following reasons: 1. train can carry more passengers, even in the 1st and last coaches, which otherwise get wasted as generator cum luggage van 2. VB trains don't require separate engine for shunting 3. easy to reverse at terminus station without increasing revenue and cutting cost, railways will be making more losses and lose passengers.

As far as i know the loco arrangement for Pune Sc Pune Shatabdi is of SCR though it's a CR rake. May be the previous night it might have come with WAG9 loco and return with the same.

Few days ago even 12223/24 Ernakulam Duronto was hauled by WAG-9 ... Is it a joke ? Why the hell is WAG-9 given to a premium train ? While on the other hand train like Konkankanya express which is a superfast train gets either wap7 or wap4 daily 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ I can understand even Duronto can't go beyond 110 in Konkan route but still isn't it a bad thing ? Actually WAP7 Ka production bahut cum hi aur WAP7 ko ab lambi duri k train k sath attached kr rahe hain aur cum duri k train k sath WAG9 attached kr rahe hain
I dont think even in 2023 any section of shatabdi route on this section requires or supports 130 kmph, but train reaches on time. So logical guess is railways hasnt planned high speeds. Does this engine support passenger train safety

No. Premium trains don't have ALPs. They have LPs only...and that too LPs driving premium trains. Just because an engine is a WAG 9 doesn't mean the staff is the same.

Now u might say that train with more than 55 kmph avg speed is superfast, but this train was late during its entire journey except for SUR.
