There's nothing like precision machining, and this was NOTHING like precision machining! Oh well, good-enough for one of their local-haulers. And besides, the sooner it needs replacement, the more work they get. And those blade-edges look like they've already seen a few thousand nautical miles of high-cavitation use.
The lathe was not Flexing, it was the extra long boring tool which you saw Flexing. And that is because the prop was true centered not the prop shaft hole. The prop shaft hole had tolerance poured into it at casting. Did you notice the special "swing" on the lathe though?
I've seen some rough machining but this is as rough as a dogs xxxxxxxxx I also get a feeling once fitted to a ship that propeller will be the source of much vibration
Such a shame half the worlds population are probably ‘ non practical ‘ and wouldn’t even be able to comprehend the skills involved throughout this process. We are the true creators and survivors of this world we live in today . Respect to anyone with practical skills👍.
would ❤ to see you go over with these blokes usin their tools n do a better job!!! Bein part of the western world like me has spoiled us we put things like this in a machine that makes it all to spec… These blokes have do it all by HAND WITHOUT COMPUTERISED MANUFACTURING & you have the gaul to say this 💩
We all know a propeller must be perfectly balanced, calibrated and aligned, but these guys are making them wearing sandals and pouring molten metal like if it was soda into a bucket, just big respect!! 😅
Step one, disregard your work boots and put on sandals. Two: Ensure your clothing is loose and flammable. Three. under no circumstances should you operate with PPE. Begin.
I smaller pilot hole first before using the big drill bit would have helped reduce the deflection of that borehole. Otherwise my respect, a job well done.
Great skills of foundries casting such big properl blades, in such way, no Engineering can compare the education in college, great its beyond imagination
Hier gibts nichts auszusetzen.

No toes were lost in the making of this wobbly propeller. I guess if the waves don’t put ya to sleep the nice vibrations of the propeller will gently rock to sleep.
Not gonna bust on these guys, they’re doing pretty good work with rudimentary tools. Probably gonna go on some crappy river craft or some kind of island hopper thing. Probably hooked up to some crappy diesel engine that is held together with baling wire and hope , so I seriously doubt the vibrations of the prop will make a difference 🤔
Are you kidding me? The drillbit is wandering all over the place. I would love to see an x-ray of the metal. The metal urge has got to be spot on. I can’t believe what I’m watching but hell it’s all you got it all you got good luck for ingenuity.
It's great to see international occupational health and safety standards in action. These working man's unions are really representing. Hopefully, these men can take their day's wages and barter some rice for the family dinner. Precision tolerances with a tape measure.
i love seeing people talk trash, machinists and hobbyists alike, here let me clear it up, the machines are older than all of you, their economy is... ehhh, plus they don`t require ultra fine .00001 tolerances because iunno the ships are old as hell too, they just need it to work i would LOVE to see you machinists use this and achieve your precious precision, and i use an EDM for my parts i rarely send it to a machine shop because... government but i digress, the machines are older than y`all, they need refurbishment or replacement so why don`t y`all buy them one? i meaannn you mighty judges must have billions of dollars for your precision work, lockheed martin must really want y`all, they are doing the best with what they got quit being a negative about it and watch these men do what they HAVE to do not want to do i know for a fact there are people capable of making these machines accurate but ya know, that takes money. so from someone who actually likes precision by burning it off with a beam of high energy/intensity photons as well as EDM yes my electric bill is a smidge high but that`s the price you pay for shaving literal atoms off instead of gigantic .001 slivers, you guys, the ones making stuff, you`re doing great don`t let the sticklers bother you, put in hard work like you have been you`re awesome for what you do, and best of luck with whatever machining/engineering jobs in the future :)
Finally the guide believe has shoes on. Now we need to start a fund to get him some safety glasses. The way that things bounced around, i'd be afraid to get the to close without safety equipment.
I'm impressed with the old-school know-how and skills.... but why does one melt down an old propeller and go through all that work to make a copy of itself when the original wasn't damaged, bent or even worn-out looking?
Bhai its my humble request That with the earnings of these yt channel please provide them with proper working boots, hand gloves, plastic face mask etc. Its nice to see so many talented people working with so little technology but at the same time we know that these hard working people also need some kind of safety.
They’ve got to find a more efficient way of lifting heavy stuff, those chain blocks are running at about 100:1 reduction ratio, that’s a lot of time and effort that could be more productive.
In Britain if you went to a foundry and said you wanted a 2 metre ships propeller you’d need drawings , plans , specifications , 12 planning meetings and a Health and safety visit and if your lucky you’ll get it in 5 or 6 months … in THIS foundry if you went in and asked for the same thing they’d tell you it will be ready tomorrow afternoon 😅…. Your ship might vibrate like a 1960’s washing machine though 👀 I truly respect these guys though .. Cannot Do .. is NOT an option for them 👏 👍🏴
1) Original propeller Here, they don't hesitate to break the model to recover the metal and cast a new propeller, which shows extreme confidence...And if the casting goes wrong, what do they do? 2) Balancing the new propeller The old diesel on the boat shakes as much as the propeller which shakes as much as the boat. So, it's all right.
It's fascinating to watch a group of men manufacture a propeller using state of the art technology and equipment and procedures all while following the strictest regulations that their OSHA equivalent can put on them
