Thank you all for watching the video of my new bike! What's the best thing about this bike? Ask me anything, and check the links in the description for the codes and affiliates!
Seriously cool bike Remy. I think it's about time to upgrade from my 2017 Pivot Firebird which is a pedally freeride machine. The Spindrift may be just the ticket. I'll keep an eye out for when you get a discount code for these.
Hi Remy, absolutely in love with this bike :) What's your inseam hight? I'm always struggling with insertion depth of dropper posts due to my short legs (anormal ratio from upper to lower body)
best bike presentation for spindrift! sure, remy is sponsored but everything is absolutely comprehensible and no BS talk. remy would never ride a bike that doesn't suit him, he doesn't think he needs to. thx remy!
I'm glad Propain is involved with the Pros in refining an already great product. Propain was out of stock when I was ready to buy. I knew I wanted a bike that was adjustable, and could run it in mixed wheel or full 29er. Hopefully companies lean towards this kind of adjustability. I think it makes biking much more enjoyable when you're not limited with settings.
I am not so fluent in english, but i need to say just that : Entre 1992 et 2005 ( j'ai arrété de rouler en 2005) j'ai étudié la geometrie de tout les vélos qui étaient susceptible de me faire plaisir.
Hey Remy ! I love the option of riding full 29 and then being able to switch to mullet , that's well thought out ! Hats off to Propain for working with you on this bike , and lastly yourself on intimately knowing every detail of this bike , thank you for sharing your knowledge ! 👍
Remy you are so spot on with the longer chainstays. I recently bought a new bike mainly due to the long chainstay available on it. I'm glad to see high level riders and a company like propane speaking out about this. The spindrift has been a favorite of mine, but on paper, it lost out. 6 months ago. Maybe next time.
@remymetailler I ride a 495-510mm reach front triangle. I find a chainstay of around 455mm to better suit the longer front triangles. It helps stability in the chunk and steeps. It loads the front wheel more with less body english and climbs better. For me...
I was torn on what bike to get so I got a Specialized Evo Pro. Since then I put 165mm cranks, fully extended and slacked, upgraded to a Fox 38 with 10mm more travel, running mixed wheel with a WRP yoke and Cascade link, and EXT E-Storia coil. I went with the Evo because it's so adjustable, and a bunch of aftermarket parts are available for it.
Actual meaningful changes with this version, instead of changing the headtube angle by .5° every year that some companies do lol My Spindrift still rides perfectly so I'm not in the market for a new one, but I still really want it
Superb improvements on an already fantastic bike. Propain are killing it on progressing their range and I'm proud to be an exclusive Propain rider. Thanks for the vid Remy, as always you're very informative and love your passion for detail.
Insane looking bike - wow. I had the previous gen Tyee before & I miss it. I was thinking about the new Tyee MX but now, I’m think I’ll try the Spindrift MX this winter. I’m excited to try it. Thanks for your hard work & sharing your thoughts.
I think you sell a lot of bikes for Propain. The fact that they basically made the new one as a copy of your modified one says a lot. Also super good that they made the same frame for mullet and 29 and with just a flip chip to adjust. I definitely want one now.
ordered the AL medium for the kiddo. bummer they didn’t offer the CF with a full 27.5 setup - at the same time I like the little less slack head angle for a more playful ride and more close to current one. They did a great job with the builds and bike
i always wondered if it bothered you the rattling noise of the cables in the tube....what i did i used a rubber hose and installed it on the inner cables....zero noise ! unfortunately the cf is out of my budget...even al is quite high...i compared it to the Tyee unless you can provide 15% discount the Tyee ends up much higher with the basic specs...a shame you can't select Shimano instead of Sram or Magura. I will have to remove lots of components and resell those if possible...I just want the RX Zeb to be included and not Lyric like with the Tyee...
Knew it will be the new spindrift when you dropped the reel on Insta😅👍 Crazy bike! Love the flip chip option. U can play around and adjust just like u feel. Sick!
I have a CUBE ONE77 I can say that is a great ripper.. However I am always rideing CUBE but PROPAIN and CANYON are brands that I would like to try in the future, and almost went for the Thyee last time..
i've had the same setup last year :) e13 9-45t + XT + 30t AbsoluteBLack oval 30t + hayes Unfortunately, e13 was no that reliable and died pretty fast. For the price it has a pretty short life span, so I switched over to XT 10-45 cassette
Are your bottle cage sponsored? If not try the Fidlock, it is really so nice and easy to take on and off, and at the same time it never falls off while riding because it needs a twisting motion that does not occur when riding.
Nicely done! Im wondering where I could source this spacer under the fork to adjust the bb height. Sounds like an affordable way to try this option… thanks
Hi Remy. Thanks for your awesome videos. Coluld you please advise does mullet configuration work significantly better than symmetrical 29 wheels in terms of bike control? What are mullet's disadvantages from your point of view?
Curious as to what you think about putting the new Marzocchi Super Z 190mm fork (or the Zeb 190mm) on the CF version to make it lean more toward park, but still nimble enough to pedal up. It would slacken the 63.9 degree head tube closer to the park version (63.5) but not quite there. I like the longer chain stays on the CF version just as you suggest.
Hey Remy, can you by any chance write the exact Works Components reach Adjuster you used? I would love to try it on my spindrift, they offer like 10 different versions.
Just double check the size of the cups but it should be this: workscomponents.com/en-eu/collections/reach-adjust-headsets/products/reach-adjust-ec49-ec56-to-suit-tapered-steerer-5mm
Given the high anti-squat through the middle of the travel, isn't an o-chain or E*13's freehub decoupler needed to reduce pedal kickback? Also, what width tires at 20/22psi? 2.4/2.5 F/R? Wider tires need less pressure
@@remymetaillerah okay nice. And this works with everybike? Fx i have a xc bike with 100mm on the fork and I want it to be a little more slack? Or if i want to try mullet on my propain hugene?
Do you ride your tires tubeless? Do you use an insert? Do you know the weight of the carbon frame? Haven't found the info yet. Is it possible that the flip chip is only available for carbon version? Regarding DVO. I am riding the same fork with 65psi, one token, full LSC and two turns for HSC. I am 178cm and with ride gear 90kg. I do not bottom out. But the fork feels very harsh and it looses 10mm of travel due to the negative chamber. Do you have that too? And what HSC do you ride? Btw I am on the DVO Jade X. Have you tested the DVO Jade X Prime? Also I want to switch from Spindrift 3 in size M and mullet to a bigger one. I need more stability when it's getting faster. Thanks for the instruction to the new Spindrift.
I love the bike, but at the same time I hate it. I hate, that it is not available in 27,5” version. Will it ever be? Or do I have to buy used Spindrift 4?
is there a way to get the new chainstay protector for the spindrift 4? I just bought the bike when it was on sale and the chain slap sound is killing me.
Love my tyee. Such a great bike and I have been swapping back and forth between mullet and full 29 which I feel the bike does an awesome job accommodating both. Quality on propain is second to none. This bike is incredible. That being said - cable tourism sucks. Is awful. Is horrible. Is a disaster. Propain need to get rid of this gimmick junk because their bikes are so good it’s not needed! Again - anybody on fence about a Propain - the bike is awesome. Just say no to cable tourism!
@@remymetailleri might have a question about that. Since the rear part of the frame is wider, is there a higher possibility to kick it with heels? This happemed to me on my old Meta and it was annoying. Thank you in advance and really god video!
without even looking it's a Spindrift 5, too late for new reveals, haha. Most of these bikes just look the same, including the Santa Cruz line, from afar you can't tell the difference.
The 5 looks sick I think we are all jealous of every sponsored Rider and the many dentists who can afford. a new bike every year 😂😂 On a serious note I don’t know why everyone buys a new bike every year what’s. wrong with the one you had last year realistically there. is not much difference. between the 2023 and 2024 mods of the bike that you have brought just a few tweaks here and there Just my opinion but unless your carbon or aluminum frame brakes. what is the point. in wasting money. on buying a new bike every year.
comical tho, how many people fuss over 29 vs 27.5 when there's only a 3/4 inch difference in size, from the axle. so you have 3/4" more 'butt room'. imho, having a 29" front wheel isn't a huge difference of "rolling over things" capability.. it's just not dramatic. for me, a freeride or enduro 29er just feels sloppy. the 27.5 is far more steerable and quick thru jump lines. 29er for light trail and XC? sure! YMMV
Awesome now let's see you go get hurt riding that expensive bicycle through the mountains 😂. A true mountains bike rider has some injuries somewhere on there bodies 😀 👍 ❤
Hello, Comparing leverage ratio it seems that MK5 have lost midstroke support? Already I find midstroke support to be to low on the MK4 comparing to my MK2 YT Capra. Do you feel the midstroke on the spindrift to be too low?
