It's 6am and this morning's yoga feels like a jelly donut.
I don't know why it feels that way. There must be a neuron in my brain that's connected to the memory of eating such a delicious monstrosity. And the dopamine response that usually follows the sugar shoveling is being provoked...
by the natural release of dopamine from this morning's stretch...
and the sound of songbirds chirping from the window sill...
rooting me on like cheerleaders...
Anyway... this video features Malcolm, a defensive end for the Omaha Beef. Yes, that's really the name of their team. And he did fantastic with this adjustment.
But I want to tell you about Ron.
Ron had some acute, left hip pain. He hobbled in this week, just days before his championship match. He was extremely grateful to get on the schedule.
His spine is like an iron gate. I fixed his neck 3 years ago and as he reported this latest visit "hasn't had a problem since."
Anyway, I worked hard on him. Ron doesn't get cracked though. We did a lot of drop, instrument, and soft tissue mobilization. I think I cracked his psoas. Athletes can take a beating on the table.
And I implored Ron, "if this doesn't fix it, CALL US!!! TELL ERIN IT'S AN ATHLETE EMERGENCY. THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS IN 2 DAYS AND YOU NEED TO GET ADJUSTED!"
I love treating Athletes.
btw, Ron is 62 years old and is vying for the championship trophy of the local bowling league.

Let's just pretend for a second that this video isn't about athletes.
I've got a serious question for you all. Specifically, the peoples who identify with the female gender.
Do you carry tweezers in your purse?
And more importantly, would you get offended if someone asked you for tweezers in public?

I mean, I know women can be feisty and all... but the sarcasm I received from this request was a bit unwarranted. It's not like I asked for a trombone. Or an electron scanning microscope. Or a pair of elephant circumcision snippers.
Tweezers are the size of your pinky and her purse was big enough to hold 4 gallons of milk.
I probably wouldn't have assumed so much if her eyelashes weren't 27 inches long.
She reminds me of Indiana Jones when she blinks...

tbh, I thought she had pair hiding right there, inside those naturally lush lashes... and upon request, a single lash would unfurl like a spring fern to reveal the tool, the tweezer, which I only assumed would be helpful for taming those eye beasts.

the songbirds have all flown away because my children are now awake. And they're yelling. For no reason at all.

Yesterday, I canceled my tattoo appointment. Jasper (from season 1) has tendonitis... that I can't fix. Her apprentice is an amazing oil painter and is transitioning to skin ink.
But the vibe wasn't there. I need to search elsewhere. Oh, the despair...
....
Life is a dance my friends. And music really is everywhere. You write the lyrics. But it's not like you only get one song, one genre. You're going to write album after album after album.
Today you may write a slow, hip hop jazz melody that conjures up images of a smokey, candle-lit whiskey bar.
And tomorrow you may be composing a hardcore, rage in your face, piano jingle.
Actually, I'd be impressed if you could transition that quickly. It takes years to develop the subtle sense of the piano classics.
Either way, just keep singing, keep dancing. Happy songs with happy feet. Sad songs that meet your grief.

I hope this isn't making any sense.
You have to be careful of what's being proposed in the here and now. The truth is often much more subtle and stranger than you think.
For example... the sun creates the beautiful illusion of day. And the blue sky reflects the immediate earth experience. The oceanic reflection in the atmosphere is very poetic and romantic. But when the sun traverses beneath the terrain, at night... is when we see the truth. And it's much deeper, darker, and mostly empty. A space to create our fate... in the constructed matrix of omnipotence.
Truth exists in the shadow, also. It can be scary.
But there is deeep clarity. Billions of stars. Some of them already dead, leaving behind their light legacy.
And you and I will not live to see the end of their story.
But we can imagine, singing and dancing with the stars until the cyclical nature of the universe reveals itself again.
