@Willie The comment came from me on Chris's premier stream, and I stated that UI offically supports this unit on 8.0.7... Just as you did you updated the controller to the official release, but I personally never tell my customers to run on anything less than what the company stated it will support.
The take home lesson is only use these UXG and any other devices in the Unifi line if you deploy multiple units per location. Being able to manage these devices from a centralized location is a time saver. By contrast, if you only have one Ubiquity router in the network, use an EdgeRouter instead. With that said, I prefer to use a Dream router instead of the UXG. At least this way, I don't need to get a separate Cloudkey to host the Controller.
@@JacksonCampbell Not true, i had Edgerouter X on 1Gbps fiber connection and it works many years without any problem at full speed (+-900Mbps). Right now i have UXG-Lite and it is the same +unify +dpi +content filtering
@@JacksonCampbell Yes, that is true, but for device which can be as cheap as 45E it is incredible performance. Most user don't have synchro internet speeds.
Is it possible to do site-site between two UniFi setups, where both LAN's can communicate with eachother simultaniously as both UniFi's has their own VPN client to hide IP? Without routing internet traffic through the other UniFi. Think duplicate of what you just setup. But with an addition that you can use a VPN from some VPN provider i.e NordVPN in order to hide your public IP. And then having both of those remote UniFi setups comminicating with eachother. WireGuard as preferd application.
9:30 They populated in mine, but when I clicked to adopt it said I needed to update. I'm not sure exactly if the UniFi OS or Network was required to update, but I updated both to the latest before I was able to adopt the UXG Lite.
I really like these uxg but sadly I cannot get rid of my edgerouter for one because I don’t really want to run a separate switch when I don’t need many ports at home maybe one day they will make one with four ports the same as the edgerouter
i am planing network with U6 LR and U6 mesh , with remote hosting , witch hardware do i need ? if i use unifi cloud gateway ultra , do i need an extra cloud key gen 2 ,

Hi love the video, first setup I found on the network 8.0.7 I'm struggling with installing 'rules' to get the different networks (Guest, Kids) to AIR-PLAY to the "default". Do you have a video on that? Or get the possibility to print from an other network to the printer in the "default"network. Thx in advance
I checked isolation option at 22:39 for my guest Vlan but that caused all iOS devices have no internet access. They can still connect to WiFi from U6-LR but it says no internet connection. Should I try to leave that unchecked and apply firewall rules to isolate my guest Vlan?
Done much with the U6+ Vs the U6-Pro? Interesting re the UXG-Lite. Fore the moment I'm staying in the pfsense / Sophos XG orbit. Agree re vendors getting greener re packaging.

Hi. Very nice setup - pretty much what I want to implement. I have 1Gb internet connection - so this UXG lite would be enough for me. But my problem/concern its next one: I have 6 vlans and I'm not sure that this uxg-lite gateway can handle inter vlan routing traffic for me. Of course most of the traffic will go only from my vlans (guest, iot, dmz) to internet BUT I still have some inter vlan traffic, inside my network: main vlan servers vlan - and for each of this L3 traffic the path will flow through that (limmited) 1Gb LAN port from this uxg lite. I was considering exactly this setup and using an USW-Pro-8 but then I read about the fact that you can not configure at least some basic ACL to segment the inter vlan traffic as you want (on this L3 sw) ... so we go back to that limmited 1Gb uplink to uxg lite if you want to really separate some traffic. I know that you can add some ACL on L3 sw but at the first restart thoy will disappear - so no use for me. I had one UDM pro to do it all in one device but unfortunately for me - I had to change this solution because the FAN noise from udm pro became to much for me. I need a completly fanless solution. Unfortunatelly it seems that there is no such thing from unifi yet ... This was almost the right solution but with this (only) 1Gb LAN interface, where much intervlan traffic have to go through (in my case) - i think it's a no go. At least if they put a 2,5 Gb LAN port, or 4 LAN interfaces ... could be something. Maybe in the near future - i still hope for a gateway ultra or something a little bit more advanced or with few extra ports ... would be nice.
@@WillieHowe so lets supose that I have 1 uxg lite + 1 USW-Pro-8. Where/how do i have to configure gateways for all 6 vlans, in order to be able to add some firewall rules to block some inter vlan traffic and also to not overload that 1Gb uplink between uxg lite and usw-pro-8 with all layer 3 traffic from one vlan to another ?
So are the older USG-3P still worth having around? I need to get something like OpenVPN on it as my new cell wont allow me to use IPSEC vpn I have been using for years? I still have 2 USG's deployed. Are these older USG still able to provide security to keep unwelcome actors out of my networks?
Hi Willie, I stumbled an upon your video and it’s fantastic! Would you recommend upgrading the USG to UXG or UX? Is it even worth the upgrade meaning will I get more throughput on a gigabyte service? if the USG is primarily being used as a router without a lot of advance, features, will I know a difference using a UXG or UX?

Two quick questions: 1. IOT network being isolated if say an AppleTV is on that would I still be able to control it via my iPhones Remote app or if my Ring cameras are on the IOT network would I be able to see them in the Ring app on my iPhone? I would assume I would need my iPhone to be on the IOT network? 2. I have a device that is very sensitive to ensuring it only has a 2.4ghz connection in order to work properly. How could I ensure it always gets 2.4 and nothing else changes on it (it is a robot snowblower).

@@WillieHowe I have bought a Udm wall by spending around 1200 bucks. Also 2 unify access point 6e dome version one unify express. I wanted to secure my home network after someone completely took over my wifi (through hand shaking)and all mobile devices. Originally the ISP gave their own modem (Speedprt pro with hybrid LTE option from telekom). But then I want to use only Udm wall as main modem and router. I plugged in the DSL cable to Udm wall, but nothing is being recognised...I am not a professional, but I really want this to work and have a secure connection.pleae help..where am I doing wrong..I would like to return the ISP modem
I guess never thought about it as all my APs, switches etc have all kept their IPs since adoption. I do however assign static IPs to clients like my Synology NAS. Thanks!
