Shaq, Kenny and Chuck look at the acquisition of Larry Nance Jr., George Hill, Rodney Hood and Jordan Clarkson with the departures of Dwyane Wade, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose and Channing Frye.
Kenny is spot on like always. New era. Social media is nothing like the Bad Boys days and when MJ had to go through Atlanta The Cavs with Mark Price Ehlo and those other big men. It's kind of like pick up basketball. It's not fair but they're changing the game and making it entertaining. I just don't like how Lebron is controlling it. But oh well. Roll with it
It's entertaining? I stopped watching ball cause I already know what's gonna happen. I'll start watching games again during the second round of the playoffs. The game is so unbelievably un-competitive it's not even fun to watch.
JeremyCuddles exactly it's like I keep saying that no one wants to take the Hard Road to win a championship anymore you know. And besides there's not enough Talent spread out across the league to offer competition it's not the same way in other leagues in other leagues you could have stack teams and even then they're not guaranteed to win the championship the Yanks in the 90s the Red Wings and the New Jersey Devils those teams were loaded the the Penguins when they had Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr you can essentially have a somewhat of a super team in the NFL and they're still not guaranteed to win the Super Bowl
Based King exactly I don’t get why people are mad at Cleveland lol they clearly did it because Wade wanted out and they respected that. It didn’t work like they thought.
thepersianlion acttually, Wade wanted to go back to Miami, I think he's gonna retire next year so it would be more than nice to ended up where it started. So basically he requested that in my opinion
It wasn' true that's what happened, I don't think nobody could foresee a situation this bad, nobody could expect IT and Crowder to do this bad after an amazing season in Boston. Plus bad chemistry, egos and fingerpointing and you have the recent Cavs. It wasn't that easy to anticipate.
I love the Hill/Hood acquisitions. I also love how the culture reset, perhaps best commented by Brian Windhorst, is going to be implemented. I don’t love the IT deal. 1st round pick was too much. Nance was the sweetener. Giving back the Lakers a draft pick, esp. with the way Los Angeles has found steals (Nance, Kuzma, Hart, Clarkson, Thomas Bryant (possibly)) in the draft, could be a thought to set them back. Let’s also not forget which NBA superstar could leave this season, and with $70M on the table, don’t expect Pelinka/Magic to not talk with the King and another superstar to team up in LAL.
DJT: The pick given up in the IT trade is recouped by getting a better player in Nance. That pick would have been in the 17-25 range... are you getting a better player in that range than Nance?!?!?!
Why do people value late first round picks all of a sudden. I seen a stat somewhere that a player picked between 20-30 has an 12% chance to make 1 all star game in thier career dating back the last 30 years. It's not important.
Making a first or a second round pick a valuable player for your franchise is not based on its position, its based on scouting. If you believe in your scouting team you could find a guy like Robert Covington in the second round, a guy like Kawhi Leonard or PG13 in the 12-17 range, or even a Kyle Kuzma at the end of the first round. There are gems, you just have to know where and how to mine them!
So easily they forget how the mavs won their title, no super team, all around good players, one great player, defense, and a good coach orchestrating it. Had it not been for free agency the following year, they had done it again. It can be done, the Stars gotta alone something special though.
but they have to jell...chemistry men, overnight a title contender? they will be lucky to come out of the regular season! and with the coach they have?
raptors are still the best team in the east , Yeah the cavs got better on defense but they couldn't stop a nose bleed so thats not saying much. having kyrie on the floor as a 2nd option is what made them so dangerous before, they still dont have that 2nd option now thats nearly as good as kyrie
So what Kenny said, is that back then, a bunch of players just sat back and were ok with there being better teams and players than them and accepted it? to me teams back then fought harder, had more longevity, and didnt care so much about image, like now, it was just play and i dont care about all the other stuff.
The NBA wants Leflop to win, he is like the spoiled kid in a candy store crying "I want this, this, and this". Now, he does not need to play for this team to win!!! let's see what his excuse is going to be this year!!!
Kenny is forgetting the fact that the talent around today is 10-fold on the talent of the early 2000's, which means more 'superteams' can be built in both the eastern and western conferences to compete for a championship
Lol Kobe came from.high school so shaq was taking a risk playing with him, almost every other player that came from high school except for lebron, tmac, and kg were complete busts
BlobbyBlobz i dont think theyre saying it like there wasnt superteams back in the day. But theyre saying like shaq and kobe didnt decide together they wanted to make a superteam. Kevin McHale, Bird were drafted while Parish was traded. Michael and Scottie were drafted. There was no desire from Bird to join Isiah Thomas. There was no desire from Jordan Barkley for example to join Bird in the Celtics when their contracts expired.
Thats out of the nba's control when someone doesnt want to team up with him. trade for nothing? come on! actually the cleveland did get kyrie from the clippers for nothing. thats Dufuq i'm talking about. also, Kenny Smith is LBJs B1@&%$
