Great video and beautiful coloring! You were one of the first coloring RU-vidrs I discovered when I started coloring about a year ago, and I've been watching all your videos ever since. I really like your videos because they’re so relatable. I especially appreciated your rant in this video because I feel the same way. I've been wanting to start a RU-vid channel to share my coloring and do buddy colors, but I worry I won't be able to keep up or reach the same level as others. For me, coloring is just for fun and mindfulness. I do try new techniques sometimes, but it often feels like coloring has turned into a competition, and I find myself comparing my work to others and feeling like I’m not good enough. Thanks for making such great videos! Even though you’re busy with your full-time job, you still find for the coloring community, so thank you. :)xx

@Colouringfrankie aww Frankie what a lovely comment! You should absolutely start a youtube channel! For me it's about the process, the joy of colouring (ooer 😆). I don't want to compete with anyone else, just colour for fun and relaxation too but sometimes it can be a bit disheartening when you see fantastically shaded teddy bears in a tent 😆 I definitely don't like the competitiveness either! Look forward to seeing your channel pop up 🥰

Very cute pages, looks like you had fun. I remember when I first heard of adult coloring they made a big deal out of how you couldn't do it wrong, and it was relaxing etc. Then it felt like it all became a competition, that is not relaxing to me at all. I enjoy seeing some of the fancy pages but I am not interested in competing with anyone. Enjoy what you like and what you can do atm. Hopefully after you heal you might want to do more pencils someday but if you don't feel like pencils then either enjoy your markers! 🎨

@colorcrazy2944 That's so true, it was touted as being relaxing and mindful. I remembered when I started scrapbooking and it was about preserving your memories in an archivally safe way... then 5 years later people were sticking £10 worth of plastic embellishments on a page and there were competitions and voting on "whose page was the best". Talk about not fostering a relaxing hobby... when others start critiquing and comparing your stuff it sucks the fun right out! 🥰

Ahhh Lilly, I just love you and now I feel as if you have given me permission to just colour for fun and relaxation because I, too, cant do all that shading and bling, I have arthritis in my hands etc I'm 76, and really only want to lose myself in colour and not worry about all that other stuff, it's so intimidating, as @Colouringfrankie says above and I would join her youtube channel in a heartbeat if she started one up and might even find the confidence to share some of my colouring a la natural, lol !!! Thank you for your delightful, chatty videos, big hugs. Oh by the way I live in Melbourne Australia, but my family are English and it's comforting listening to your English accent as well xox

I'm so with you on this! I use pencils but I know zilch about light direction, maybe someday, but one of my favourite colourists used to use pencils and she was great but now you need sunglasses to look at her pages there's so much glitter and metallic paint lol. I miss her old stuff.😊

LILY your colouring is lovely it is for you and only you I understand completely what you mean sometimes I feel like I jazz simple pages up I just can't help myself haha but that's the way I colour I absolutely love the way you colour too though it reminds me of childrens books I mean that as a compliment like it takes me back to flipping through childrens books and watching cartoons I sometimes wish I knew how to be low key with my colouring but I'm always like add this and that and before I know it everything is on it haha I colour more for creativity but then I do have those pages when I just want to simplify and not do as much I understand what you mean though when your new to this community and everyone is so good and stuff it can be like a competition and stuff and it took me a while to not compete myself to others but now I'm just doing my own thing and if people like it they like it but the main think is I like it but sometimes I am too much for myself haha 😅 hope your shoulder heals well I have to go to physio for a trapped nerve in my neck so annoying but we have to do what we have to do ay sending hugs 💜💜

@chelseascreativecolouring We all colour in different ways; some colourists are technically brilliant with light and shade in all the right places, some use glitter and paint and sparkles galore and some do simple straight colouring (that's me 😆)... either way, none of us shouldn't be judged negatively for indulgening in our creativeness otherwise it sucks all the fun out of it 🥰

Thank you so much for your “rant.” This was very refreshing to watch!! I enjoy coloring because it’s a relaxing creative outlet. But the perfectionist part of my brain that has watched hundreds of RU-vid videos is telling me to find my light source & white out the black lines. I don’t want to…. lol, I just want to color! Also, I think your coloring is great!

Yay! Just colour! I don't like whiteing out the lines either, I think it looks odd. I like seeing the illustration lines. It's like we all have to follow someone else we saw do it once! (I'm going to get kicked out of the colouring community at this rate🫣🤭)

I get it!! 🤗 I broke my left elbow and tore my rotator cuff in May. My elbow needed a plate and 5 screws. I'm so grateful I'm right-handed!! 😍 But sitting to color, I want to do a page in one sitting. However, sitting that long causes my arm to swell and become painful. I have only done a couple things over the summer. I miss the therapy!! 😢 You've done a great job at getting your coloring pages done with a dominant hand rotator cuff tear! 👍 Bravo!! 👏👏

And thank you for the rant - sometimes it does need to be said that colouring is about having fun, not creating masterpieces - unless that's fun for the person of course. Aww, thanks my lovely. I do know some people like settling down for hours with their light-sources-o-meters and making all the characters look real... but for me, colouring is just a bit of fun relaxation time and the less stress the better! 🥰

@@ArtJourneyUK Thank you Lilly! That’s nice to say! But no, i am not on instagram or facebook, i am not coloring for a long time and i don’t like to be judged. I just like to color. I did the color along from RJ Hampson lately, so my coloring is on his website right now, it’s on the 5th row from below, on the far right. It was a joy to color! I have also a website for different hobby’s but i did not put up content for about a year, so stupid….somerhing holds me back, i don’t know….

"No one is ever going to see these anyway" Um, *technically* that's not how youtube works 😅 But you're right of course, at the end of the day colouring/your hobby of choice should be fun. Some people have fun spending dozens of hours on one page to create masterpieces, others have fun using big old markers to get something done quickly.

I need too get surgery on both of my shoulders. I have a bone spur an it's facing in towards my nerves. Also my left arm has narrowing in the cuff so it needs to get done. But first I'm having back surgery and I'm fused from the S1 -L4 he my surgeon wants to now fuse me from the L5-T10. So fun time's. I'm seeing the surgeon on the 23 of this month. And it's the follow up for my cat scan/Myelogram. It's is too show him my back with the existing metal in my back too see my L4 area and I have a nerve being pinched an it's effecting my right leg. I just can't gain any new muscle in my right leg I'm actually losing muscle on my right leg.
