Hi,
Start of a another series based on recently completed transit projects (within a couple of years of less) in the GTA and beyond.
Join me in this first video in the playlist and take a walkthrough the Kipling transit hub and a cool underground link that probably is not that well known!
Thanks so much for subscribing and supporting the channel. If you have been watching and are not subscribed, please just hit the subscribe button and bell. It really helps to build the channel.
Cheers,
Graham

I lived through all the past construction and will have to endure the new upcoming construction. The Kipling/Dundas/Bloor redo, the Kipling bus platform work, a new building at Aukland and Dundas and the new GO/MiWay, etc., etc. took 3 1/2 years. I was surrounded by it all. A bit stressful but worth it in the end....I guess. LOL I can see my condo in your video. 🙂

Alas it's part of Toronto life eh! I think six points delays are scandalous,. Get the heck on with it already. They talk about a housing crisis, allocate much of this area and not a shovel in the ground two years after the roads are completed. Could have had a nice new area started by now.

nice to see. The bike facilities are really unfortunate existing from kipling though, in my opinion. hope the six points facilities will help with at least one direction of travel...

The South side of the TTC station on the buses level there's a platform for the never built Etobicoke RT line which would have complimented the Scarborough RT

Thanks Richard, that makes sense when you see it like that.

Great video! GO would love to run trains all day on the Milton line but they can't. Milton is one of the few lines (along with Richmond Hill I think) that GO doesn't own. CP owns the line and is hostile to more passenger service. Unfortunately, it'll probably 10+ years until we see improved Milton GO service.

Thanks Andrew. Wow. Did not know that! That’s a shame.

CP's hostility to passenger service cannot be understated. The only reason they allow commuter service on the line is because there was a derailment several decades ago, and part of the case settlement was allowing commuter service on the lines. Meaning if not for a horrific tragedy they never would have budged an inch.

@@TheHothead101 So sad eh! It's hard to imagine the reasons why this would be a problem for them. Other than money of course.

It would be nice if they extended line 2 west of Kipling!

How far would you go with it? Maybe to Hurontario?
@maddygilbert4328

I think they wouldn’t because that would put it into Mississauga. As well, when the subway was extended in 1980 there just wasn’t the density to support a subway further than Kipling.

They've studied extending it to Sherway Gardens mall a few times in the past, most of the time with an infill station at East Mall/the old Honeydale Mall site. It's never gone further than environmental studies, the ridership projections always lead to the same conclusion, extend it to Square One Mall, but that will never happen, at least in my lifetime.

Thanks! Be great if they ran more go trains and they had a people mover from the TTC

Thanks Tony, Haha I was going to comment on having one of those airport movers but I couldn't think of the correct terminology so I was fumbling along.

It's a 3 minute walk in a heated tunnel, does it really need a people mover or just being lazy?
@gabrieldsouza6541
@gabrieldsouza6541 Год назад
@@anareel4562 It's a pretty long walk honestly, as someone who's able-bodied I couldn't imagine an older person or a disabled person making it through that tunnel. It's fairly steep uphill and downhill, a people mover would make sense if you're gonna spend the money for a tunnel.

@@gabrieldsouza6541 tunnel- cost around 1 million Peoplemover- cost 50million+ I don't see the benefit, except doing the regular government thing and just throwing money away...

"What does a completed GTA project look like?"--- we don't know. Our incompetent govt can't complete projects.
