The Lamello Invis is a brilliantly designed, magnetic joinery tool that tightens a hidden fastener inside your work piece and leaves no evidence behind. This video will explain how to use an Invis to join a fitting to a railing on a balustrade build, in conjunction with a Domino XL 700. This machine is also ideal for the furniture and cabinet maker.

Scott , just finishing up an over the post railing on a winding staircase and balcony. I bought the Lamello invis mx2 system because you made a good case for it and I have to say, I couldn't be any happier !! What a time saver when assembling and dis assembling things to get the fit right. Fantastic!! Thanks for the info and keep up the good work, Jay

Have to get one for the next railing job! Fantastic. I remember seeing Tommy use this on this old house years ago. Keep up the good work !

Yes it is a great tool. Especially for a pro (like you). You can bill out the joining elements, which is a bonus. A few years ago I'd never heard about it. Then a commercial finisher told me about it and I checked it out. Well worth it. Thank you for the encouraging comment!

It has been said that working with wood is not rocket science. Well this tool is sure bringing woodworking closer to the rocket science spectrum. LOL Love your channel, it is very informative.

Yes as long as the material is deep enough to accommodate the fittings.

Thank you! I can't remember actually. When I get back to my shop I will look and see if I have more left and let you know. I use a professional paint shop to guide me towards the right products and they're awesome. Thank you for the comment. Cheers Scott

I really was shocked I never heard of this? However my question is do you use this much? Or it’s nice to have? Cost to buy also?

I use it on every railing job - especially on mitred handrails. I've also used it for railing to newel post connections. It's around $800+- (Canadian dollars). So it's expensive enough - but not crazy. Thanks for reaching out.

please what is the name of the second machine you used to chip in the wood?

I believe what you are referring to is the Festool Domino XL 700. It's a great machine for making solid joinery. www.festoolcanada.com/search-results-page?keyword=domino%20xl

Does this work on an inclined handrail? Like with 22.5° mitres?
@scottearlsmithFTC
@scottearlsmithFTC 11 месяцев назад
Yes. I've done them on mitres and also where the railing meets the newel at the newel at the top of the stairs. Check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4q9QOTmwQqQ.html Cheers Scott!
