Nice video. Well done. This next comment is for anyone else who might be reading this... I built my first PC in 1981, my last PC 5 days ago, and have built well over 1,000 in between. I am a professional in the industry, and I can tell you everything this guy said is spot on. Most of the time when I watch these videos, they get it 95% right. I have watched two from this channel so far, and everything is super accurate. This is a new channel, but definitely worth a sub. Cheers.

Another great build and video! I was half expecting you to fab a mesh panel to replace the glass. Glad it works "out of the box" and anyone can build it!

Loved the concept and I hope that I can try to build a similar PC in the future. One suggestion I would give is that you leave the "Geek mode" sections of the video unedited, those are the fun bits lol

Nice build, I'm going to use case you used here for my build - good find! I can use my full size psu and this case is tiny. I prefer semipassive solutions. Psu and gpu will not spin fans at idle (psu even during gaming is not spinning fans), and gpu will (obviously...). I'm using Noctua passive cooler 😎

I just gave up on my first passive PC, was going to be based on the Intel N100 and ASRock A380 Challenger with a Raijintech morpheus 2 core aftermarket cooler. I'll probably copycat most of your build with the customized A380 when I have the funds. Thank you so much for the inspiration and the research into the case that is optimized for airflow and such. The only tricky part now will be cutting a copper heat spreader for the VRAM on the A380. Looking for a good way to insulate the non thermal contact areas to avoid shorting things out.

Can you install an RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio from Msi underneath? It stays silent until it gets into gaming/heavy loads. Would it negatively affect the CPU cooling performance by too much or could it work?

Yoooo! I want to build a passive 8700g build, is this cooler overkill? I don't think I'd need anything greater than a PICO PSU as the power draw will be pretty low, so I feel like this case/cooler combo might be overkill.
@bluetech2809
@bluetech2809 2 года назад
Would have been to cool see how far you could push it if you just had one (low speed) Noctua (or other brand very quiet) case fan. I noticed Noctua has some you can set to like 12db. Surely that would be essentially silent (I wonder if we can even hear 12db unless we were in a completely silent room) but would provide some performance boost? (like allowing you to increase the power draw or something?) Anyway awesome video.
@kleinbottled79

I know modern AMD's will boost higher the lower temp they are at. So for a modern AMD chip more cooling probably means more potential performance. Dunno about the current intel stuff. Older Intel I would say for sure no, not without overclocking it.

Would it potentially be worth chucking some intake fans in the bottom, then programming them with a fan curve that basically stays off, then kicks in steeply only if the temperature hits a dangerous high?
@ElevatedSystems
@ElevatedSystems 2 года назад
I don't think so. It is pretty much impossible for a modern CPU to get dangerously hot as it throttles itself and will instantly shutdown if there is a rapid spike. Besides if prime 95 only rose the temp to 83c there is nothing an average PC user is going to do to drive the CPU that hot. Plus fans on the bottom will impede the convection flow when not spinning. Like I said if the PC is in an environment where it can get hotter the best thing to do is lower the PL2 power limit.
@gerritwanderer5510

Would you still recommend the matx case with a dedicated graphics card (with fans)? I don‘t mind fan noise while gaming, so I‘m looking for something like a GTX 1650 with a Fan stop Feature in idle mode (to have a silent system most of the time).
@ElevatedSystems
@ElevatedSystems 2 года назад
No, you want as much distance between the graphics card and CPU cooler as possible so I'd go ATX and put the card in the lower PCIe slot. Check out the build Noctua did in the Jonsbo case.

You can pick the GTX1650 KalmX: www.palit.com/palit/vgapro.php?id=3494&lang=en The issue is that the side panel should be perforated aluminium, at least the lower part by the expansion slots.

I think it should ot be terrible, there is plenty of headroom with cpu cooling adding gpu would still be safe. I'm thinking of using it with 5600x +4070 rtx (hopefully, but now 2060s rtx) in the same case.

Thanks for sharing... You inspired me to build a passive Mini Itx on Aluminum Case. Can you please tell what is the highest safe temp for PCH? With 22c ambient room, mine reaches 50c with 2 intake at 650rpm if I turn them off PCH reaches 69 on ZZEW B6 14L mini itx case, Gigabyte Aorus Z690i lite d4 (with 2 gen4 NVME SSD and 2 sata 2.5 ssds, i5-12400+Thermalright SI-100 210TDP rated 31-47c and 56c highest with no fans; GPU is a HP AMD RX5500 oem replaced heatsink with a Raijintek Morpheus 2 Core no fans 32-40c normal use and 57c gaming) is 69c or even 70-75c degrees ok for PCH? Thanks before hand!

Depends on the motherboard but M.2 slots are typically in the PCIe lane area so should have no impact on a CPU cooler.

I have a dumb question why not cpus get bigger instead of sticking to the same form factor ? That way they could be more powerful and techy and maybe generate less heat?
@ElevatedSystems
@ElevatedSystems 2 года назад
Actually the smaller the a CPU gets the more efficient it is. It required less power to move electrons across gates, they have less space to move through, less curent needed to read gate states, therfore making the CPU faster and cooler.
