Hey guys. I dont know of you read these or if I'm just writing to internet. I just got to let you guys know how I feel. I watch you guys like tv. Every video since I discovered you guys. I love the comradery you guys have. My wife just watched this episode with me and she LOVED it. Even though this was the worst case scenario outcome for the trip, the content was so real and emotional. It really captured the investment you guys have to the machines and to your community. So look, even though this might be a little gut check. Get over it. You guys are living the dream and we are so thankful that you let us be apart of it. So keep your heads up. Keep smiling. Keep laughing. Keep moving forward. And most of all. Keep build baddass machines. Thank you!!!!
awesome adventure, I've been in the exact same shoes but now I google map and bing map the crap out of my routes for that exact reason, what looks like passable terrain on a regular papermap can be a road leading to a creek with no bridge to cross.... looking forward to the recovery vid!
this video adds to my hatred of SxS tracks. I bought a set of the older model tatou tracks for my RZR 1000xp. I do land surveying in very deep snow and some cleared forests. I've never been so disappointed with a product. Broken ALWAYS!! and when these things break your totally screwed
Oh my gosh........tough breaksville is an UNDERSTATEMENT!! Holy cow. So sorry you guys had to deal with this crap. I’m only like 10 mins in at this point. Thank god you guys are ok. Wow. Tough. Break. I guess we can’t make fun of Ricky’s X3 anymore. Lucky break Rick 😎 for real, at least you guys are ok. You got straight poop shooted by Snorienteering.
The hardest trips are some of the best you’ll never forget! My opinion your centrifugal clutch side by sides lasted longer than I expected. Good trails not for the weak!
Can Am should use this video as a sales tool for the Apache Tracks. They held up unreal pulling you guys out. Fun time. If your not going to pack a chain saw. Get a Silky or some sort of folding saw!
Omg my heart was pounding watching this...wow you guys stayed calm. Lol 😂 for the love of god which one of you thought of this super rugged trip? True grit...all of you, When Doug is down we want tp cry 😊 you’ll get her out
Tough luck there, but hey...no peronal injuries and you got a great video out of it. For next time, before heading out, find the local 4x4 people, they usually have some sort of rescue hotline app thingie going. They'll com get ya.
By the by, i hope you all used the running sxs to pull trees under those tracks and get it up off the ground, even winch one side u and put trees under the tracks and then lift the other side up and get trees , limbs under the tracks because I`m an old logger in Northern Canada and i have seen stuff freeze in overnight and even in a few hours. Well, i hope for the best.
Lol I live in kinross. You where absolutely trying to go thru the swamp area which isnt even much of option in the summer lol. I had my honda talon stuck out there the other day trying to see how far I could go. Nasty area you guys where going thru and yeah the ice storm last winter still isnt fully cleaned up on the trails. You all rock though love ur episodes to funny to see you by where I live. I was checking to see of I wanted to get tracks for next winter but I'm not to sure after watching this lol.
Come on guys, Your lack of preparation when going riding is borderline "rookie status" lol how hard is it to prepare a proper tool bag, tow bag, and all the normal riding gear that most people pack. I mean, u brought a frickin generator for god sake... why!? lol! I love the vids keep them coming.
J P my thoughts exactly I ride up here in Alaska and you better be prepared for about anything An eight dollar hatchet from Walmart I couldn’t tell if Sous was using the sharp edge or the backside of the tool🤨
I think I would rather take my chances with mud tires than those fragile ass tracks! Granted I know zip about snow. I have been in your shoes before, but in mud. Come a long'ed a 96 f350 for 5 hours with a Ranch Jack after breaking a Ford auto hub. You just suck it up and press on because nobody is going to save you! I agree with other comments that Doug is tough. Always looks on the bright side! Good job fellas. Looking forward to the recovery video.
From what I’ve seen now and in the past is the track system is just not very durable. I love and own a Polaris but from working on them the engineering is a little shady on some things. Thanks again for the video entertainment.
Opp`s I'm back just watched Castle Motor Sports a vid they posted 6 days ago, laugh a minute and carnage that should give you guys a laugh, where you guys lasted 2ish days these poor bastards well let's just say much less than a day.
Your right, I would have lost my cool and killed everyone. Well, they probably would have kicked my ass and dragged me out hog tied but they all would still fear me!🤣
Dang Duders you’re only 30 minutes from my house I could’ve come saved y’all!! And I own a motel you could of stayed at 😬 Brimley motel suites next time👍
When that track fell off i started laughing and thankfully so Did Sous and Nick. So ummm mad mods would be windows and a heated cab and you can get electric heated gloves for snowmobiles so ya, heated stuff. Kinda reminded me of Hansel and Gretal - Sous and Nick following the parts that fall off. Well you were not defeated just an incredible journey, no one died {except from laughter} and if everything went smooth in the end would not have been as epic a trip and no lessons would be learned. Thanks, glad you Dudes were safe and enjoy. Plus now the rescue will be anticipated.
My friends and I always go riding in the mountains of Tennessee. On one of our trips we were lost stuck and broken down for 20 hours. Cold and raining. It was the first time I built a campfire for survival lol. I know exactly how you feel. It’s pretty miserable when it’s actually happening but I will tell you the stories and memories that you have from the experience are worth it. I rarely comment but this particular episode struck home with me. I really enjoy your content and Im glad you guys are becoming more and more successful. If you haven’t been riding in Tennessee you have got to go. The mountain trails are insane. Keep up the good work fellas.
RZR Daze well that’s a fact. Some of us wouldn’t have made it back if that was the case lol. Although I usually over prepare for everything so there is a chance haha.
It's moments like this that test the brotherhood. Still laughing and building memories priceless way to hang together. Youll look back at this when your 70 and say remember that time...
Talk about the toughest of tough breaks. Wow. It really amazes me how Doug stays so positive in situations like this, and keeping the moral up while the tough breaks keep coming. Props to you guys for even doing this honestly snow is cold screw that.
If you live long enough, and play hard enough, ta get one of these here deals. They truly suck at the time...but they become just another chapter in your book of memories...and you will laugh a lot longer than the misery lasts.
Like Lonnie said, those tracks were adapted to the RZR Pro, so you gotta cut 'em some slack. Also, the RZR Pro was blazing the trail. RickMav still awesome tho 👍🤟🤟
@@snoop8093 That def could be an issue, i just watch a lot of vids where tracks on a sxs have the same issues where the flip over and break the mounts.
Remember these vehicles were not designed with tracks in mind they replace the tire setup, and because of this they are not as good as a track based vehicle would be Also this shows the disadvantage of 4 independent tracks instead of having the more conventional 2 body length stretch all the problem they have had on this trip so far would have been either greatly lessoned or out right eliminated with a conventional tracked vehicle..... .... . And a chainsaw
I had a friend that took is big Chevy out into a swampy powerline trail late in the fall in northern Minnesota a number of years ago. His truck got buried in a hole and they could not get it out by the time darkness fell. They walked home and were going to get someone to help pull it free the next day. Well temps dropped overnight and the mud froze around the wheels and rear axle. It sat until spring!!!! Great story, before GoPro camera though.
I always look at Doug as the MacGyver of SXS Blogs, but this time he got beat by the challenge... I look forward to seeing you get out of this predicament!!!
Looks like the classic track derail. Maybe multiple tracks. I have faith in Doug he always stays positive and makes the best of everything truly one in a million guys
I UTV winter camp in Canada on my RU-vid channel and just bought the Apache 360 LT tracks for my Can Am Defender. My first outing is this weekend and you got me scared 😅 Looks like I’ve got to be careful!! If you ever need advise on camping gear let me know ⛺️ your gear made that trip rough! I have a hot tent with a nice wood stove for me and my dog 🐶 love the channel and can’t wait to see the postmortem on those tracks! 👍 Michael & Esme 🐶
Do they make a wider variant? Seems like the rig was just too heavy, while the X3 seemed to generally stay on top. We did learn tracks are not invincible, seems like SXSBlog has had a lot of trouble with tracks, is that a general experience of most people that use them on rough trails and areas?
He mentions in the next video that these tracks were meant for another, lighter vehicle and he acknowledged that by pushing them beyond their rated application, he was risking failure. I have a set of tracks for both a Polaris and Can Am ATV. Neither has failed in over a decade despite hard use in the Sierra mountains. (Elevations to 11,000 feet)
the second that rotated and you noticed the hub wheel had failed, you should have cut a decent sized tree 4-6" diameter, and lashed/ratchet strap tied it to the rear lower arm, and just had the other 3 tracks drag it to the nearest point.. remove the track if you can, but expect some more damage.. the tree would be the sacrificial part, and save your metal components from being destryed, and costing more $$$
Damn the luck. But, you guys made memories that will last a lifetime. Some of my best memories are due to situations just like this!! Keep pushing boys!
After 4 years serving on active duty in the Marine Corps, the best memories that I have are times when situations got sideways on us and we made it out anyway. Life's greatest moments are completely unplanned! This is one adventure that all of you will be rehashing over beers for quite a while. Semper Fi.
I'm in Western Australia in the summer and I thought damn that snow looks nice. Much better than 40c. Fuck that. Give me rocks , gravel, mud and sand plus the heat over that any day. Showed my Canadian neighbour this vid and he just laughs and says "Now you know why I'm here. Love this channel. Cheers fron Oz.
Tracks are cool and all but I bet you guys were just wishing you had wheels and tires on that Polaris. Thank God for bullet proof Can Am’s! Good show boys!!!
We all "get-it" you guys had a bad (2)couple days lol maybe a little under prepared but its ok. Most of us watching have "been there done that" love life your ok and you will now appreciate life a lot like a lot more!!!! and a warm bed lol-lol !!!! Wow never, never, never give up Doug should be your name!!!
Y'all still positive after all that speaks volumes and I promise I enjoyed it more than y'all did even though didn't really like seeing y'all freezing your asses off. I don't think you were defeated because you didn't just give up. You did everything you could without putting your selves at further risk by screwing around until the sun went down which could have ended very badly so good call. For that I'd say you won not lost. I really, really hate the cold especially that kind of cold which can easily kill you if you're not educated on how to survive it. Next time make sure you bring the old school cowboy bedrolls along with your bags. Heavy Burlap with a fleece or wool blanket to lay your bags on will help a lot. Plastic as you found out is worthless in those temps. You can get canvas tents at an army surplus store fairly cheap that are easy to set up and depending on size you can actually make a fire ring inside as they have smoke holes/chimneys built in the tops. Glad y'all made it out okay and good luck on the recovery definitely not going to be fun...
It's not worse case scenario boys! Ya got one machine that's good. You got each other and it's one for the record books man... Doug, as usual, you keep the ball rolling in the right direction man. Thanks for sharing... Would love to see the rest of the recovery!
So it turns out; tenting in sub zero weather with wallmart gear... maybe not the best idea. Classic tough break! LOL Seriously though, glad you guys are ok. Next time take some crazy carpets with you and some rope. Great to stick under busted tracks.
Well, this goes to show that the tracks just aren't cut out for orienteering. Its incredibly unfortunate for you guys and I truly am sorry you had to go through such a disaster of a time, but hopefully you are all safe and warm now. Thank you so much for taking us on this adventure with you! I wish that I could help you out more than just liking an commenting on your videos.
Things like that happen you gave your all what more can anybody ask of yous, you got my respect, am sorry for what am About to say but this has been one of the best and funniest video I've seen in a long time LMAO
Maybe if yall go with Osta he might can show yall boys how to do it in the extreme cold. He lives way up theres near Canadia dont u know! Btw dont get down when u have a bad day on the trails, its part of the game. You guys do really good but u cant win em all!
So the beginning of this video immediately brought to mind the coldest most miserable night of my life. Worked in Antarctica and had to go through a 24 hour snow school, and genius that I am I chose to dig a trench and sleep in that for the night(choices were, scott tent, ice trench, or igloo). I started sweating digging the trench then of course all that sweat turned to ice, so longest night of my life, didn't sleep a wink, froze the entire night... I imagine I looked just like you guys the next morning.:) The great thing is, you never have to do that again!!! At least not in subzero temps.. Can't wait to see the rest of the trip. Entertaining as always! :)
Wouldn’t the easiest thing to do at this point is to just put the Polaris on regular wheels and tires. And come back with the x3 and mud life. And some good straps and new winch line?
I can’t believe that but things happen all the time so you just have to stay ready for them so y’all don’t be talking down everything breaks down sometimes it’s just a part of life✅✅✅✅👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🛠🛠🛠🛠it’s going to be fix and no time
oh you shit that really the worst thing that can happen I know that such off-road tours are nothing like they should be but you learn from them and you will always remember them nice greetings from Germany
Also, hands down besides the jp reveal my favorite video yet, you guys had great attitudes in spite of the frustration you must have been feeling. Great job guys!
I guess you guys never heard of a hot tent, lol we camp all the time in winter in alaska, but I'm really enjoying watching this video, need some bushcraft skills you some funny guys, keep the videos coming..
Damn! What a tough trip you guys had! But I'm glad you uploaded this to show what happens when things go bad, cause not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Would it be any helpful if you guys had spare wheels with you? I'm thinking if you replaced the rear tracks with wheels... Or would that not work if the front's on tracks? Nice video anyway! :D
